I always get asked about starting the DC movies, so let's talk about it! Here is a list of a BUNCH of the DC movies! I'm using this poll as a guide of which DC movies you want to see a reaction to. You get multiple votes on this poll, so vote for whatever you're interested in. If the DCEU wins, I'm not sure if I'll watch all of those movies, but I'll at least watch up to Justice League (I've been told to specifically watch Zack Snyder's Justice League, and not the 2017 release?) and assess from there.

If you're somewhat new to my channel, I've already watched The Dark Knight series and The Batman (2022).

I'll also go ahead and tell you that I already have plans to watch Joker (2019) soon! It's one that I've been interested in watching for a while, but I kinda forgot about it until the sequel was released earlier this month!

Wolverine

Batman 1989, the only Batman movie that matters

Thomas Yanez

I definitely be up for the original Christopher Reeve Superman, Michael Keaton Batman, and Henry Cavill Superman. You can stop after the first movie of each. 😀

Mark Dahlen

Original Superman is the movie every superhero movie since has tried to emulate

Aldo Gonzales

I’m surprised James Gunn’s Suicide Squad isn’t included. That kickstarts his take on the DC universe.

KingGoji94

Ignore the joker sequel. It ruins the first one for me so I pretend it doesn't exist lol. Definitely watch Keatons batman movie

Scot Jebens

The first Superman was mind blowing as a kid (I was 11). Even the credits at the start were amazing special effects! It was so scary and cool and you really thought Superman could fly. Today, as an adult, it’s 10000% cheese. Funny how that works.

Stephen Fairley

Superman the movie from 1978. There are some amazing DC movies and tv series to be watched. The Penguin currently airing is outstanding TV. But I'd defo start with Superman. Looking forward to seeing some DC content now. 👌🏽

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday & Happy Halloween, Addie. All are good choices but my votes belong to the Batman tetralogy (Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992) Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997)).

Jon Anderson

When I'm in a very silly mood, I sometimes like to watch Batman 1966... but failing that, the late great Christopher Reeve.

Byrd N. Hand

Well, we're back to normal films -- at least until December when Christmas-oriented titles re-enter the conversation. I have to admit I was truly disappointed in the October slate from most of my favorite reactors this year. Too damn many titles from more recent years for my tastes all around. Even worse, I've come to the unfortunate conclusion that Addie is in fact an even bigger 'horror wimp' than Popcorn in Bed (Cassie has now at least watched "Poltergeist," *both* "It" movies, and "Saw" -- all titles that Addie apparently still won't touch 🤔). Anyway, in regards to this poll, any vote for anything other than the first 2 Christopher Reeve "Superman" movies and Tim Burton's 2 "Batman" movies is wrong.

Randee Carreno

Happy Halloween Thursday, Addie! 🎃👻 Great DC poll for today. However, it was a tough decision for me between "Superman" the original and the 1989 "Batman". Ultimately, even though I love both of those movies "Batman" got my vote. Michael Keaton is fantastic in that roll. The same can be said about Christopher Reeve(RIP always)as Superman. Have a fun & safe Halloween today! 😊

Brian Leonard

Also, Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad.

Philip Davetas

Ya done messed up, Addie, if that's your real name, THE SUICIDE SQUAD should be on there.

Byrd N. Hand

"Batman Returns" is just as good... and also takes place around Christmas, so this is the perfect time for her to watch them.

KingGoji94

Yeah the channels I watched did not give much when it comes to horror movies I was very let down

Bryan Fritchie

Not all movies are loved, so I'm sure some people will disagree with this. But I'm typically on the side of watch them all, and in release date. 1) More content for the channel. 2) Experience everything that we experienced over the years. 3) Fully understand ALL references.

REDR58

Clearly you have to start with Superman 1978 and then Superman II…and then move on. :)

Alex Tan

I even wished that she watched The Exorcist (1973). But hey, there's always next year. By then, we all DEFINITELY need to steer Addie into the darker direction of watching scarier horror movies, against her better judgement. #MoreExtremelyScaryHorrorMoviesForAddieCounts

Bryan Fritchie

As someone who won't go near horror movies, that's fine with me. But have you seen the way she jumps at movies? Those would probably kill her. 🤣

aarswft

Please stay away from DCEU. It only attracts the worst kinds of people.

Chris Shine

With DC you might be better off just doing "the good ones", because they can be pretty hit or miss, at least imo

Alex Lee

Superman '78 and Batman '89 are definitely the way to go!

Alex Tan

Agreed. Despite my enjoyment of horror movies, I still accept her October output because it offered her a good mental balance. Plus, the comedic ones really define her preferences.

Alex Tan

Yeah, Folie à Deux (2024) was hated because of it being a movie musical. But, if my gut feelings are correct, it could be one that Addie may enjoy, due to her background in musical theater.

KingGoji94

Thing Is though it doesn't suck because it's a musical, it's because it's a bad musical made by someone who doesn't know how to do a musical

Justtired

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I found Zack Snyder’s Justice League unwatchable. Or, to be more accurate, the 2017 release was mediocre. The Snyder cut didn’t make it better and the length makes it unbearable. I’d definitely recommend Batman, Batman Returns (for Catwoman, if nothing else), Christopher Reeve’s Superman and Watchmen. Also, The Penguin series has been very good so far.

Kevin B.

you can vote for every show you would watch not limited to a single vote on this one

Alex Tan

And director Todd Phillips says that it's a movie with music in it. That's what musicals are.

Doug

Couple of random thoughts: - The original Superman is good, the sequels are skippable. - The original Batman is good, Batman Returns is ok, and it goes downhill from there - The Watchmen film is decent, I especially like Rorschach in it. If you do end up watching this one I highly recommend the HBO TV single season TV series as well which acts like a sequel to the film and is pretty great! 👍 - Deadpool shot Ryan Reynolds when he was reading the Green Lantern script for a reason. 👎 - Lego Batman was pretty funny. 😄 But if you’re thinking of watching this, I highly, HIGHLY recommend watching The Lego Movie first. Not only is it a really terrific film in general, but it also introduces Lego Batman as a character and the Lego Batman film is a spinoff from that. - DCEU is kind of a mixed bag, I definitely think it’s less consistently good than the MCU is overall. But I would say the best movies in that lineup are Wonder Woman, Shazam!, and The Suicide Squad (as opposed to the original). (Honestly I think you could stick to just those three plus the Peacemaker HBO TV spinoff season and be really happy with that set!) - Notably missing from the poll are any animated DC films. Some of the animated DC movies are quite good, especially some of the animated Batman films including the two part Batman: The Dark Knight Returns movies, Batman: The Long Halloween movies, and Batman: Under the Red Hood. Also the double feature of Flashpoint Paradox and Suicide Squad Hell to Pay (which do surprisingly tie together) are both really good as well.

Doug

Your opinion isn’t unpopular, Zach Snyder’s Justice League is divisive. The directors cut is a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is ok but even that is the “better” version. The theatrical version is only 39%.

Doug

FYI The Suicide Squad is under that DCEU group. And yes, I definitely recommend that movie for Addie given how much she liked James Gunn’s Guardians’ films.

Doug

The first one is kind of skippable. (It’s not the worst film ever or anything but it’s definitely not as good as James Gunn’s version.)

Luis Fernandez

Since Addie already watched 300, I'd suggest she watch Sucker Punch (2011) (which is also not a great film) to get a complete look at what's in Snyder's bag of tricks, then stick to the mercifully-short 2017 Justice League.

Doug

I think there are a few other good ones available in that poll. Lego Batman was pretty funny, and there are three or four DCEU movies that are definitely worth watching (Wonder Woman, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad and its TV single season spinoff Peacemaker, all pretty great. 🙂) Also while the Watchmen movie isn’t the best on the list, it’s good enough that if she DOES watch it I’d highly suggest the single season HBO show Watchmen (2019) that’s a sequel because it’s quite good! (A well deserved 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.)

KingGoji94

He also wiffed on the ending it could have worked if *spoiler* Arthur embraced the joker persona, instead he gets torn to shreds r*ped in a shower then gets killed

Thats MR. Baldamort

Be sure when you watch the snyder verser you also watch the "Ultimate Edition" of batman vs superman. Im tired of people telling addie to stay away from the DCEU it clearly has a lot of fans. The vocal minority who hate it will speak out here in these comments. I love the DCEU Starting with Man Of Steel. Yall need to stop trying to convince addie movies are bad befroe she watches them. It's all just your subjective opinion. It's annoying. However I agree I think its best if you start with Michale Keeton batman and the original first superman first

Luis Fernandez

Definitely watch the first two of Supermans and Batmans. They are not only good movies but also cultural touchstones. (Batman II will give you a look at the Penguin, and maybe make you want to watch the Penguin series, which you should because Colin Farrell is KILLING it!) The Watchmen is great, but it'd be better if you could watch the Director's Cut. But I don't think that is available anywhere. Please please please do not watch the Ultimate Cut.

Troy Sinegal

The first two Superman films, and the first three Batman films with Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer are a must see. Batman & Robin I advice you to watch just for a laugh. It's up to you

SR2 Prod.

I hope you watch the DCEU after watching some of these original DC films. The DCEU is so fun!

Byrd N. Hand

I suppose another can of worms to open is which version of "Superman II" Addie watches: the original theatrical cut or the Donner cut? Both cuts have their pros and cons, and there's really no definitive version of the movie between the two, so, in a perfect world, Addie would watch both, but that's probably not going to happen. Therefore, if I had to choose one, it'd be the theatrical cut, since, even though the Donner cut is more cohesive overall, I feel the theatrical cut gets 2 crucial story elements right -- one of which being the ending.

Philip Davetas

As much as I like the Donner Cut of SUPERMAN II, the Lester cut is just plain fun.

Byrd N. Hand

There's just too fucking much recency bias around here for my liking. Y'all are aware movies *did* exist before the '90s, right?? 🤷‍♂️ And if Addie's going to watch "Joker," it would do her a world of good to watch Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" and "The King of Comedy" first.

Cody Cameron

If you watch Watchmen make sure to watch the director's cut if you can

Byrd N. Hand

Both the original theatrical cut and the Donner cut of "Superman II" have their strengths and weaknesses. Ideally, Addie would watch both, but given that the theatrical cut has the better ending (and also does one other crucial story element better), I'd go with that.

Jasbro

It HAS to be Superman (1978) for a first ever DC movie followed by either Superman 2 or Keatons Batman. I also respect everyone who voted for Green Lantern even though it should never be someones first ever DC movie, that movie gets too much hate, it sucks that even Ryan craps on it even though he met his now wife on that movie, he could be memeing though i can never tell when hes being serious.

Connor Ellis

Watchmen isn't connected at all to the others btw.

Byrd N. Hand

No, "Superman II" is just as good as the first... even if there's no definitive cut of it thanks to the Salkinds intervening and not allowing Richard Donner to finish it on his own terms.

Justtired

I don’t think she should stay away from any film just because some of us aren’t fans. Nor would I suggest she steer clear of the DCEU as there are several decent films in it. There have been plenty of movies I don’t enjoy which Addie and others have reacted. I simply skip those reactions and look forward to the next. That’s what’s great about the polls. Everyone has their own opinions and preferences. Do I always agree with the winner? No, of course not. But, often it opens me (and others, I’m sure) up to something i ordinarily would not watch.

Cameron Kerby

If the poll doesn’t make it evident, which it should, she hasn’t seen any DC films. Which, should tell you her knowledge is very limited and she just didn’t know to include either Suicide Squad movies. Ok? So cut her some slack.

BubblyRainbows

Yes, movies existed before the 90s, but before the 80s, they all sucked! (That was a joke) Seriously though, Addie does seem to have an audience that is much more interested in recent movies. I mean she does use polls to select a lot of her movies, so it's just a reflection of what most of us want. I admit to being a bit anti-old-movie myself (there are some great ones, but I think many of the "classics" are highly overrated... not BAD, but not the masterpieces some people think they are, and the ones nobody ever heard of are unheard of for a reason) It would be cool if Addie would toss in a few more "Classics" polls though, or maybe polls for a specific decade, like a poll of movies exclusively of the 60s or something. I think the polls are good, like I said, but I do believe everyone's interests should be met at least now and then. I've been fortunate enough that Addie has watched a few movies I really like that generally aren't very popular, and it's nice to see something pop up that you really want to see. Anyway, I was going to leave this comment at "That was a joke," but if you really love older movies and want to see more of them on the channel, I really do hope you get your wish. There are certainly some older ones I would vote for in a heartbeat. Hope you (and everyone else) are having a great day. ✌️🤓

Happy Hanukkah

I'm willing to watch a select few DCEU movies, but if it's going to be all or nothing, I choose nothing. (I assume there's no getting around the "trilogy" (Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Justice League) and the only other movies I'd add are Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam.)

David Martin

Wish Batman Forever can get some more votes. I think you would really like it. Underrated

Cole Trahan

I’ll never watch DC, besides green lantern, because that character sounds cool, the others just seem and look bleh. But I’ll most likely watch it in the future if I had a gf to watch it with if she wanted ti watch it.😐

Thats MR. Baldamort

Personally She only needs to watch everything up to Justice League snyder cut. Which is only a handful of movie and nothing HUGE like Marvel. I think the snyder cut is home to some of the best super hero moments in any super hero film.

Bacil Donovan Warren

Green Lantern is a must-watch, IMO. Very mixed reactions, largely negative, from many who have watched it but I still think it's a crucial watch.

Andre Agog

There's also the Supergirl movie from 1984, a campy mess where Faye Dunaway and Peter O'Toole have a scenery chewing contest. But man, Helen Slater has amazing hair in it. Oh and speaking of campy messes, there's the 1966 Batman too. But that era gets forgotten now because Batman is only allowed to be an emo fop these days.

Exinferis

On a sidenote, has she ever addressed watching "Arcane" with season 2 coming out soon?

Anthony Jackson

U have to try Green lantern its right up your alley!

Kyle Brandon Sanger

I have championed 'Man of Steel' and the rest of Snyder's trilogy. Henry Cavill was born to play Superman.

Anthony Jackson

I love the Lego batman movie but you should defiantly check out "The Lego movie" first, won't spoil but def worth it

Armando Castillo

Superman the movie! Start where it all began

Scot Jebens

The George Clooney Batman is probably the best movie on the list from the perspective of worst movie ever made. It can be quite funny and very entertaining. I could have lived my whole life without seeing Batman & Robin wearing costumes with fake nipples on them.

JSin

whatever path leads you to the Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series lol

Luis Fernandez

I wanna say it was on a TV poll but didn't come close. I can't quite remember when that last TV poll was.

Julian San

You’re missing one… Supergirl: The Addie Counts Story (1984)

L3MONz

If you want to watch Lego Batman you should watch The Lego Movie first. Also, even though it's deep into the DCEU The Suicide Squad (2021) is a real gem and I'd hate for you to miss it.

Alex Tan

Hear, hear, BubblyRainbows. In the comments of her reaction to the first episode of Daredevil, she also said that she'll do her best to balance out the types of content that she offers.

Alex Tan

Sure Folie à Deux sucked because of it being a bad musical that's made by someone who didn't know how to make one, but the hard truth is that musicals have quickly become the most disliked genre amongst the general public as of this decade, my girlfriend & I included among them (although we both enjoyed The Sound of Music, various Disney movies, and Mamma Mia!), and nothing was able to convince us and/or them otherwise.

Philip Davetas

The most interesting factoid about SUPERGIRL is the scene where she flies out of the lake. Apparently, it's a photograph of her against a wooden cutout and wires pulling it out of the water. I haven't seen the movie since I found that out so I don't remember how it looks.

Philip Davetas

I like SUPERMAN, but my issue is the part where he zips around the planet. I would think people would be flying off into space at that point and not the way the movie was trying to accomplish. I feel like that's a bit of a cheat in the same way FUNNY GAMES did. But that's what they did. I guess there are take-backs.

The Uber Geek

Fuck the Snyderverse. Poor Story telling for simple people. Superman 1979 (directors cut) Superman 2 (donnor cut) Batman 1989 Batman Returns Then do the DC Animated Universe. For the channel, do movies starting with Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox, for Patreon, start with Batman the animated Series 1992.

Byrd N. Hand

Yep, those are the only 4 titles here that I care about Addie watching (and, frankly, the only other superhero movies I give a damn about outside of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy)... though I'd lean slightly more toward the theatrical cut of "Superman II" (if she's not going to watch both versions, which would be the most ideal situation). mostly because I feel it does the ending better, as well as one other crucial story element. P.S. "Superman" was '78. 🤓

Julian San

I never questioned it as a kid. But I think knowing it makes it look obvious.

Thats MR. Baldamort

I disagree 100%. The snydererse has a big fanbase. Dont gatekeep what addie should watch and stop trying to convince a reactor a movie series is bad before they see it. Snyderverse has a lot of strong areas even the snyder cut of justice league is pure cinema. Its just your subjective opinion. People have been requesting it for YEARS since she started this channel. Also there is no need to insult everybody by calling them "simple minded" for liking something you dont. Kind of a pathetic comment tbh.

Thats MR. Baldamort

"Recency bias" Bro, the 90s was more than 30 years ago now. There is nothing "recent" about 90s movies.

Byrd N. Hand

To be fair, those first 2 "Superman" movies kind of got fucked up thanks to pressure on Richard Donner from the Salkinds when they went over budget. I'd love to see the alternate reality where both movies got finished as intended and money wasn't an issue.

Alex Tan

Hear, hear @Thats MR. Baldamort. Not everything Addie watches has to have some kind of seal of approval.

Jay Perry

I voted for Watchmen. If it's Watchmen, it has to be the Director's Cut. Nothing less will do.

LittleGalaxyBoy

I'm not the biggest fan of the Snyderverse, but it's worth a watch. Even though it's not really my thing, Addie may like it, feel indifferent, or hate it, it's up to her to decide, no one else.

Alex Tan

I have a gut feeling that she watched the theatrical cut on Max.
