Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 Congratulations on completing the "Kill Bill" duology. I haven't seen this one. So it's a first time watch for me as well. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today, and a great weekend! 😊

Thats MR. Baldamort

You should watch "Django Unchained" next its honestly just bad ass, and filled with one AMAZING cast including Leonardo Dicaprio and one of his best moments in his acting career. Which when the time comes, we will happily give you you fun facts when you watch it.

Let's give Addie a round of applause for embracing her bloodlust for Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2, despite having to deal with her snake-related kryptonite with Elle Driver's black mamba in one scene. 👏👏 Happy Friday. I own both movies on Blu-ray and I'm DEFINITELY watching both tonight. BTW, I like how you're wearing your red flowery t-shirt this time.

I was honestly kind of underwhelmed when I first saw this half. We didn't learn what happened to the Pussy Wagon (all we got was a throwaway line referencing it) or the fate of Sophie Fatale. I was also kind of disappointed that Beatrix didn't actually get to kill Budd herself as well, and the final duel with Bill felt rather anticlimactic in its brevity. But I've gradually come to accept most of these things on subsequent viewings. As I've mentioned before, though, I still *really* want to see that single cut of the film and how Tarantino would've originally presented it. Come on, Quentin! Give us the goods! One more interesting tidbit: the actor who played Pai Mei (Gordon Liu) also played the head of the Crazy 88's (the bald one in the eye mask).

Not really a duology, just a film split into 2 halves at the behest of the studio.

My hope was that it would've finished closer to "Kill Bill" in the poll, so that she'd have no choice but to watch it as well. Now it's kind of up in the air. I'm hoping she does, though.🙏🙏

"Looked dead, didn't I?" Love this movie--I think, maybe, more than Volume 1. Volume 1 has the action, yes. This one has all the rest.

This was a good reaction. I think the Superman metaphor for Bill and Beatrix didn't quite land, but that's ok. We've had like 20 years go dissect it. I think a classic trap people also fall in with this film, is that the protagonist is the hero. Beatrix is a bad person, she's done alot of bad things, and it's fun to root for her revenge, but her and Bill's relationship was toxic both ways, she betrayed him and her team, and they were justified in their rage. She just happens to win in the end.

The proper name for the format is a 'diptych'. Yeah, I had to be that guy. 🙂

Trembling Colors

“He just likes hearing himself talk.” You described practically every Quentin Tarantino character.

Trembling Colors

Absolutely, I think people do get too caught up in rooting for Beatrix and ignore she’s just as much a bad guy as the people she’s fighting.

LaserLamb

Really? You needed to know what happened to the Pussy Wagon? Apparently, she loaned it out to Lady Gaga & Beyonce to make the "Telephone" music video.😄 But seriously, she would've had it destroyed, seeing as how she killed (or severely concussed) the owner. She would've been in a world of trouble if the law caught up to that truck. What I really wanna know is how did she walk all the way from Barstow, California to El Paso, Texas...barefoot, no less!!!🤣🤣🤣 If I were her, I would've found a way to dig that grave up & get her boots outta there!😆

LaserLamb

It's a bit like John Wick. She wanted to leave her wicked ways behind her. She ultimately wanted a life of decency & salvation. She tried to do it as quietly as possible, but she got pulled back in. So she had to go on a killing spree to get back out again. She could've killed Karen & Linda Wong, & then reported back that she was leaving the life (how DID she wind up in El Paso, Texas anyway?). But the Squad may have given her a hard time about it, especially broken-hearted little Bill.

Hopefully this might kick start a whole Tarantino watchathon, I'd love to see Deathproof and Hateful Eight get added to the list, i know a lot will ask for Django Unchained so i would love to see his more underrated movies get a chance.

Addie, did you catch the post-credit scene? Here it is, in case you missed it: https://youtu.be/thvvJEEtt8k?si=Hq3bSnqt7Eee6HPy

A hint that Vol 1 was going to be have more action than Vol 2: the opening to Vol 1 displayed the "Shaw Scope" logo, which represented Shaw Brothers Studio (out of Hong Kong), which produced some classic martial arts films. There's a line in this film, "Before that strip turned blue I would have jumped a motorcycle onto a speeding train". Michelle Yeoh (who you know from Everything Everywhere) does this stunt in Supercop (1992). Definitely worth checking out! (I feel I should also mention that Michelle Yeoh was in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000), and while I think that is a decent film, it isn't nearly as fun as Supercop)

I suppose, then, bigger questions would be where did she store it during her trip to Japan, and why did she initially choose to start driving it again once she returned? 🤷‍♂️

Doug

Lol, it's been a little while since we had one so I kind of forgot about Addie's fear of snakes until BOOM there it is! 😄 And on a tangent from that scene, you kind of have to appreciate a villain who literally writes down an entire monologue to their victim on a notepad the night before. That's some dedication!

Andrew Roach

I may have said this in vol. 1 but these are not two movies, they are literally one movie that ran so long that instead of doing massive cuts Quinton decided to simply make two movies out of it and the studio went along with it. Aside from more revenue to be made from the studio's standpoint Quinton was one of the rare directors who could probably do what he wanted.

Addie Counts

I should've expected a snake at SOME point in these movies since their name is literally the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, but I still wasn't ready haha

Julian San

Addie said ASS in this reaction. Takes me back to the old days when she would cuss like a sailor in her videos. Good times. 😊

Alex Tan

I do hope that we get an actual reaction to Anaconda (1997) in October. #AnacondaForAddieCounts

Doug

Lol, well it is supposedly the “best” snake movie on some rankings with Snakes on a Plane being second place. (Or to be more accurate, they’re the “least awful” snake movies, most movies about snakes are unfortunately pretty bad.)

Vol. 1 & 2 were the very last films I purchased on VHS before the switch to DVD. I bought them together on sale at Blockbuster. The four-hour composite of the whole film is called "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair". It IS 'out there', but it's never been released on home video or put in commercial distribution so you'd need to seek-out bootlegs in order to be able to watch it. The content itself is mostly the same, but there are some changes. Some are minor (For example, the fight with the Crazy-88 gang is in color the whole time, instead of switching to black-and-white partway through), but others are a bit more substantial (slightly extended scenes, alternate cuts, etc.). The story is identical, it's just the EXPERIENCE which is different since instead of ending-and-beginning the film just keeps going.

Mr. Reggie

Addie, you missed the black-and-white mid-credit scene where Uma Thurman/Beatrix Kiddo is riding in her car and you also missed the end-of-credit scene. A lot of reactors miss the scene relatively often.
