Have you ever watched the 1996 version of "The Secret Agent" adapted and directed by Christopher Hampton? I remember liking it, but it is a cold-blooded affair.

Polite correction: Robert Donat had bad Asthma. He usually had an oxygen tank available whenever he was filming.

Quite right - he suffered from chromic asthma. This particular film he missed because he had also come down with bronchitis.
