Summary: A pioneer of a man convinces his family to take advantage of news of a road soon to be built through an area of the country that can be had for next to nothing. He, his aging, but wise father, his loving and loyal wife, along with a slow-to-persuade son and a divorced daughter with toddler in hand who also happens to be the narrator, bravely move out to this new space and open a bed and breakfast. They make the place everything anyone could want, as they have so much time to work on it, since no one is making reservations to stay there. Eventually, the customers come...but each one dies while in their room and the family is trying to get rid of the evidence a.s.a.p so as not to ruin their reputation before they even get up and running. One thing leads to another and the bodies have to be moved. Written by Natalie D. Roberts "sonta_en"

Stephen Crane

The one thing you can always rely on is Japanese cinema being a little off centre. Coming from the director of what I consider the most horrifying movie I've ever seen in Audition, I'm not surprised this movie is more than a little dark.

Okay, this seems to be the best kind of insane. I'd pay good money to watch the actors' audition tapes.

Err a little off centre? They start off centre and then go somewhere a western audience could not have seen coming. "Toilet of the Dead", "Machine gun girl", "The Visitor". This seems quite restrained.

This looks good. It reminds me of the Korean stage musical 'Jump' which is equally bonkers.

Michael Schmidt

I bought the Arrow Films 2K Blu ray release of this movie many years ago—back when I was blind-buying nearly every Arrow Films release. This is one of the purchases that I regretted. I could *not* get into this movie. The style and humor just wasn’t for me. I like crazy, silly, insane movies, black comedies, and even musicals, but this one just didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was just “too Japanese” for me, just like some things can be “too British.”

This movie is gloriously strange and entertaining. If you love movies, you are guaranteed to get a kick out of this film.

I'm a big fan of the Korean film this is loosely based on, 1998's "the Quiet Family." https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0188503/
