Summary: Former burglar Quint is forced by FBI-agent Johnson to steal a tape with incriminating evidence from a suspicious company. Unfortunately he is caught in the act by guard Ringer, a ruthless ex-colleague. Running from the scene, Quint hides the tape in the "Black Moon", a prototype super car made by inventor Earl Windom. Shortly thereafter, this car is stolen by Nina, who works for top car thief Ryland. Chased by Ringer and Johnson, both thinking he still has the tape, Quint's only way out is to steal the car back.

See? That is why cars were wedge-shaped in the 70s and 80s.

Stephen Crane

Warren Beaty and Dustin Hoffman in Ishtar. What was supposed to be a big budget buddy movie is an unmitigated disaster. Conversely Jeff Goldblum and a fresh from regrowing his arm Ed Begley Jr starred in Transylvania 6-5000 which is a schlocky but eminently watchable movie.

I remember when this came out on home video how much they touted the film's Carpenter connection. The classic shameful 2nd job that always immediately comes to mind is Roger Ebert writing Beyond The Valley of the Dolls, though Ebert was always proud of it.

'Eyes of Laura Mars' TLJ's breakout role was also based on a spec script by a pre fame Carpenter. The end result isn't bad, it's basically Irvin Kershner's attempt at a Disco Giallo. Robert England directing '976-Evil' which he actually does a good job on but didn't direct again for 20 years after it was cut to ribbons to get an R (ironically during the video nasty panic we got this one uncut)

Elmer Bernstein and John Williams slummed it on a lot of soundtracks before they hit it big.

Also, where is the car when TLJ hides the tape in it? At the parking lot of the club? Otherwise how on earth did he run across it to hide the tape in it in the first place?

They stopped at a gas station. (Not to fill up the supercar - that would be dumb)

When the Dark Lords said they'd be doing this film, I watched it. Hamilton's first wig is quite, quite remarkable; I thought it was a wombat. Also, she has more wigs in her flat than Imelda Marcos had shoes. And Jones takes a worse licking than any Timex watch (old Americans will understand the reference) and still keeps ticking!

That car’s not half as cool as the Turbo Interceptor. And Graham, can you black box TLJ’s shirtlessness? I admit I’m not the target demographic but I still find it unsettling.

Well Lalo Schifin is defiantly slumming it here, although apparently he recycled the theme for 'Blue Thunder'. Of course sometimes a composer can make a film. John Williams with 'Home Alone' is a good example, the producers were convinced it was a bust till his score was put on.

I thought for a moment that was her twin sister Leslie with an ill fitting wig, as with T2, although I think it was before Leslie started doubling for Linda. Sadly Leslie Hamilton died in August.
