Watching films like this, you realize how much movies really are the embodiment of wish fulfillment. Because most action movies, and certainly about 99.9% of them in the eighties, were directed by men, and most men seem to have formed their unconscious bedrock notions of "what's cool" by fifth grade, you get things like this: super thieves who are world famous but never recognized by any law enforcement anywhere, piles of "cutting edge" tech that surely must have wiped out any profits they make from their schemes, evil businessmen who are very very vague about what "business" they're actually in, neat futuristic cars, and high speed chases leaving a billion dollars worth of infrastructural damage.
