So...Rebecca does another terrible thing.

This is one of my favorite episodes. It's so well-written. Those perfect oh-shit reveals of the text going to Josh and the rock coming from inside the house, the other lawyers being so into the textastrophe, Paula and Scott bonding over Rebecca's drama.....I love it. And of course "You Stupid Bitch" is brilliant. Not only is Rebecca hating on herself, but she even imagines that the "audience" is singing along with hating on her too. That's totally how it feels when you're that low, and who hasn't indulged in a little bit of self-loathing during a particularly bad time? So great.

"Oh, Josh - you sweet, stupid man..." That is the correct response. Well done. 🤣 P.S. if you're grossed out by the mere mention of a UTI, I'm going to gently encourage you to get over it. You have a few episodes to do so. LOL

It's so fun hearing you speculate about what'll happen. We all did it when the show aired... and meanwhile the creator/writers had their own 4-season plan in mind. Enjoy the ride! (And we're not THAT near the end of season 1; there are 7 more episodes to go.) Behind-the-scenes fact: Connie, the blonde opposing lawyer, was played by Briga Heelan, who in real life is married to Rene Gube, Father Brah. They met when they were both in the cast of the sitcom Ground Floor. "You Stupid Bitch" tends to get singled out by commentators as one of the top songs of the whole series, it embodies so well the self-hating mood most of us have felt at one moment or another without really wanting to admit it to others. And of course turned into a classic number for the diva whose fans love to watch her be a wreck onstage (Judy Garland at the Palace comes to mind). One of the great pleasures of my life was attending the Radio City concert the cast gave after the series ended, and being able to join in the sing-along part along with everyone else in the huge audience.

Yeah, this is not the first time that Joe (? I keep forgetting which is which. The guy on the right) has expressed some over-the-top disgust with perfectly common bodily functions/conditions. Guy had better grow up fast, because this show GOES there.

"You stupid bitch" is definitely one of my favorites so far; it really shows the depths of Rebecca's self-loathing.
