You should've pre-recorded the other shows first. You know I'm ok if you skip a week of Star Trek. So the Original Series had three seasons and 78 episodes total, I'm not counting the unaired first pilot. That was actually pretty standard back then. Hell, the first season of Doctor Who had 42 episodes. Hour-long shows were 50+ minutes back then simply because there were less commercials. If you continue with Star Trek into Next Generation and onwards, you'll see the episodes go down to the 40+ you see today. So if you noticed from the stardate, this episode actually takes place earlier on. "Mudd's Women" was actually the third episode produced even though it was the sixth to air on television. The in-universe explanation, which you never hear, is that after a mission, Uhura simply requested a transfer from command division to operations, hence the switch from gold to red. In reality, Gene Roddenberry, the creator, realized that the gold uniform on her was unflattering and that she'd look far better in red. A few other characters switched division colors as well, between the second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and the second episode produced: Spock went from command gold to science blue to reflect his position as science officer more, and Sulu went from science to command when he went from astrophysicist to helmsman. Damn you're intuitive. You're the first person I've seen identify Mudd as a pimp that quickly. Yeoman is pronounced "yo-men". I never noticed it before until you said it, but Mudd's earring does look like the Potara earrings. Vejita, or Vegeta if you prefer the English, is actually pronounced like vegetable. Harry Mudd was played by the late American actor, Roger C. Carmel. I honestly have no idea what accent Carmel was going with, and I don't think there was any intentional linking to the sex trafficking that goes on in the Arabian peninsula or in India. While it did happen back then, even the term sex trafficking wasn't invented until the 80s. The character of Mudd was originally invisioned as a simple con-man. Technically, Arabic is pronounced as "air-uh-bic". Harry is short for Harcourt. Pause the show and talk as much as you want during these reactions. I definitely do not mind. Star Trek is supposed to make you think and you can see from my comments that I can discuss for hours every nuance of every episode. I am glad to hear you got Floki to the vet. The head of a geisha house specifically is called an okiya in Japanese. The head of a brothel is called a madam, which I think is what you were really looking for. Living above the Artic Circle, or below the Antarctic Circle, you actually experience 24 hours of darkness for about four months straight. The body does need sunlight. It provides vitamin K. Not having a set sun/moon schedule can wreck havoc on your sleep cycle though until you get used to it. From what I've read, most people tend to stick to routines and be as sociable as possible to avoid depression. Basically, you just get used to it after enough time. So yeah, not the best place for you or me. You don't really notice it in the show, but the Enterprise does simulate nighttime by dimming the lights. While you don't get the actual sunlight, astronauts aboard the International Space Station actually experience sixteen sunrises and sunsets a day. So you can actually see McCoy switch back and forth between the regular long-sleeved uniform, which does have the black collar, and the short-sleeved surgical tunic which doesn't. The surgical tunic is meant to give more freedom of movement. I agree with you that chores should be split in a relationship. Although something tells me if we both ever somehow got together, you'd make me cook every night lol. I actually made a German chocolate cake last night. I'll mail you a piece lol. Thank you for the compliment. I take great pride in my vast esoteric knowledge. Sorry about the comment length again, but you give me so much to respond to, and I love it. I actually hate it when I watch a reaction of yours and I feel like I've got nothing to comment on or questions to answer. As always, another great reaction. Thank you for letting me be a patron, thank you for creating Pixie Dust, and thank you for reacting to my favorite show.
