Love Star Trek, even more amazing with the context of what was going on in the world when Star Trek first aired back in the 1960s. Also why I find it funny when people complain that modern Star Trek is "Woke" yet Star Trek has always been like this but as many people watch the older shows with modern eyes the progressive elements go over there heads from not only a woman on the bridge but a woman of color. We see Russians and Americas working together on the same starship, short skirts which for the time was pretty risky but they rocked it in this show. So many more examples that upset alot of viewers with interesting views. Next Generation is my personal Favourite Trek show along with Deep Space Nine but you'll not be diving into those spin off films yet, Next Generation should provide a clue on when these shows are set. And finally the Star Trek films by J.J. Abrams which are connected to everything you'll be watching but it's still different in a way i can't reveal for spoiler reasons.

I see the trajectory here but just gotta say there are more than a few episodes of The Original Series that are better than this one. Ones that delve into the story of that elf and such. Spock is a Vulcan and the rest are from Earth and it takes place about 240 years from now. If you can learn to appreciate the goofy 60s set design and costumes, you can quickly look past it and get fully immersed. There are truly some killer episodes. A LOT of sci fi you see today is based on various episodes of this show. This and The Next Generation are the comfiest shows of all time. But that's a lot of content. Still, I'm not sure why the second film was randomly requested but I'd recommend the others too, especially 4. Though not a formal request if ST doesn't end up being your thing.

Spock is what they call Vulcans. They are a strongly logic based society and try to not think emotionally. The Enterprise is mixed earthlings and aliens. They are part of a multi planet alliance called the federation. Enterprise is an exploration voyage.

If you guys ever want to start a new show for reactions I'd recommend Stranger Things and Money heist. You've most likely heard of Stranger Things but Money Heist is another fantastic show.
