“That was my ambition…” He growled. As he stared at Luffy, he sighed and slumped. “I always wanted to be powerful and respected. My dream was to become King of the Pirates so everyone in the world would know my power and respect me!”

“Is that how you see the King?” Luffy asked.

“Of course, what else could he be?”

“Free.” Luffy said matter of factly. “The King of the Pirates is the one who obtained the most freedom!” Kid hadn’t thought of it like that.

“Not like I can be King of the Pirates now anyway, I’m your subordinate.” He laid back on his back, staring at the ceiling, deep in thought.

“The king of the pirates had a lot of powerful and unique people on his crew.” Luffy pointed out.

“That’s true.” He sat back up. “I don’t have to be the King of the Pirates to be respected or to be seen as powerful. I can become the next Dark King!” The first mate of the King of the Pirates was infamous, seen as just as much of a monster as Roger himself.

“Shihihi, sounds good to me!” Luffy offered him his fist.

“You are something else, captain!” Kid fist bumped Luffy. The two now had dreams to chase and adventures to have.
