VAM2 NEWS

Hours ago, Meshedvr posted an exciting update about VAM2 on the virt-a-mate discord:

I was at ground zero, hiding in the cupboard, and got the scoop. As VAM2 is getting closer for the beta1 release, I'll try cover more of then VAM2 news that pop up.

MY TAKE ON THE NEWS

Beta1 should include the Addon Kit:

Until now I at least was a bit unsure, but I think it's now confirmed that beta1 will have plugins, or an equivalent of plugins at the very least, through the Addon Kit. Beta1 lacks many things that vam has now, like hair and clothing. But if it does have plugins, or allows scripting in some way, not necessarily a plugin system, it will mean that we'll start seeing in just months some awesome next-level vam2 functionality:

- lifelike plugins of course. VRAdultFun is back and will probably get into that. I know he started planning the sequel to E-Motion, Mind. I don't know his plans for vam2 and if intends that to work for it. Myself I'm not sure yet if I'll do an Alive for VAM2

- scenes (maps). I think there will be lots of scenes and they should have exponentially more functionality possible than in vam1 assets. Almost all of the VAM1 assets have been static, except a few that had some interaction in them built in Unity, like I did  too with Alive Home.  I think we'll see a lot more stuff like doors, vehicles, NPCs doing complex things. And going back to Alive Home, things in that direction for sure. I imagine something like a vibrant cyberpunk city

- people should be able to start building entire games (I'm thinking like complex scenes with multiple locations), or game mechanics. The scripting through the Addon Kit should bridge what I think was missing in VAM for things like that to be accessible to more people. To do it in vam1 with atoms it's torture. To do it through the intended vam1 way, building dlls for assetbundles, it's not easy for everyone.

In regard to the clothing and UI/UX being very moddable, I don't know what to make of it yet. People can make their entire clothing system in vam1 too right now. They can make their entire UI too. It might mean that the code for vam2 is built more so with those in mind and it gives more access to many more things, or tools. We'll find out more soon.
