About the "rule by fear", what I think about it is that Ainzs does not want to be an opressive governor the would exploit them and make their life miserable, but the demonstration of force is way to say "it would be foolish to go against us, but instead you can JOIN us and be protected just as one of us would be" (and also it was done more as show to whoever may be peeking from afar). And he also gives then a new chance of fighting, to be "fair", since they already won a fight against his forces, and they would for sure refuse to be ruled by an enemy they just "defeated" (althought the leader almost stated total surrender 🤣); so, instead of fighting agains a whole army, they will have a chance agains a single "general". Can't wait to see your reaction for the next episode :)

Ainz didn’t want them to surrender because it still gave the lizardmen hope. He wants to prolong any idea of a coup de ta if not out right crush the idea. Without a battle there will always be the question “what if?”

Don't known if this is considered spoiling since it is quite obvious what the two legged sheep are, but if you don't get it its not chimeras or beast at all. Quite dark indeed.
