THIS FIGHT WAS EPIC!!!

Here is the FULL and UNBLURRED reaction to FRIEREN Episode 25!

Enjoy!!

Cedrick Buendia

Patiently waiting for luke to react to, Shakugan no shana openings and endings 😇

GrumpyOldAndy

Frieren stops detecting mana for a fraction of a second. She knows exactly where enemies are before they start casting, and straight after she finishes casting. Frieren also cast very fast, just not as fast as Fern. So the enemy mage has to react to Frieren's cast, hope it isn't an offensive spell that will hit them as well, such as the big lighting blast at the start of this fight, and cast fast enough, starting after Frieren has already begun casting, that Frieren doesn't finish first, detect the spell and counter attack/move.

Daniel Griffiths

please watch mushoku tensei weekly this next cour is gunna go sooo fucking hard lol

Juan Contreras

I don’t think she would loose since there’s hardly anyone fast enough to make it happen

Muligan Shinzuo

Frieren stops detecting mana for a "splitsecond" which means a mage that can cast fast enough (like Fern) could attack her in that time. However if she knows where the enemy is (because she can track their postition via their mana) she has an easier time to react (she could see the spell as example or just preemtively defend (which you saw at the very start of the fight where they each targeted the other but simultaneously casted a shild where the attack would hit of the enemy)). Therefore the enemy would have to be really fast at casting and REALLY hard to detect to be able to attack Frieren in that small opening window.

Dethrox

epic but very very short.. i actually want that attempt to fail and continue next episode.. even if that would mean endanger Fern safety.. :// :D

dani oz

Stopping mana detection means you lose track of something. Then you would need to focus again to find it. And they already established in episode 1 that Fern is hard to find even for Frieren. Meaning she cant put full attention into figthing Frieren and finding Fern at the same time.

Christian Koch

The thing was that she could not track fern anymore, with other people she can still track them/ use the general awareness you mentioned. Her only weekness are people incredibly good at hiding their mana. And you have to remember that she lost a bunch of times already in fights as established in earlier episodes

Azizella

Frieren mentioned it multiple times that she has a hard time detecting Fern. So their plan was to hide Fern and create an opening that Fern would exploit because she can cast extremely fast. The fake Frieren probably noticed Fern when it was too late. It's a big vulnerability yes but there isn't anyone skilled enough to fend her off for that long and have someone who's a master at concealing themselves on top of being an extremely fast caster.

Daniel Griffiths

the guy said that frieren was to skilled in all other areas for any mage to be able to exploit it and it was a brief moment not enough time to cast a spell... unless your fern:) lol

Connor Grynol

Like what Richter said when they were planning, Frieren is too skilled in all other areas for most people to be able to exploit her weakness. After all, it is only for a moment that she stops. For most mages, she'll already have resumed detecting mana before they finish casting a spell. Fern is able to exploit Frieren's weakness for three reasons: she is incredibly good at hiding, she is the fastest caster we've seen, and Frieren's duplicate is occupied fighting an equally skilled opponent.

Renan Pelée de St Maurice

For Frieren détection issues. First we have to take in consideration the fact that she lived most of the thousand years after Flamme died hiding herself and training mana control. So she probably did not fight much during that time. Moreover if she fights multiple opponents she showed in that episode that she knows very potentfull AoE spells that should Keep most of the other mages in check behind their shields and finaly they say when they discover her flaw that the time her mana detection stops is very short. One even says that probably no mage could take davantage of that opening. Thus I think that only Fern who has a special talent for speed is the only mage out there that could make use of that window.

Emilis2023

Regarding them being surrounded. I'm thinking they meant if they were to open the door to fight Frieren clone, they'd be sandwiched between her on one side and all the other clones on the other side.

Daniel Golas

And now the final boss, fern, who is actually hidden using the same concealment technique, jumping in at the last moment, that would be a twist

Arcade'owy Łowca

"Imagine planning to kill yourself"... hehe...he...heeeeh.

KeanuofRivia

Mana detection is a spell that acts like a radar ping. When u ping out u can detect mana use, but anyone else can also detect your ping. Frieren isn't good at casting a spell while also using mana detection, meaning she shuts it off for a second while casting. Making her vulnerable to a counterattack the instant she casts a spell

Some0neElse

since the community voted on so many unfinished anime to be watched its only natural that we get to a point where we have tons of returning anime that needs to be finished So far i believe we have Re:Zero, Oshi No Ko, Eminence in shadow, Mushoku tensei, Konosuba, Slime, Overlord (i know we are still far from catching up but still...) I think we might be hitting a point when we have to free a slot just to finish up the returning animes Also in theory yes - dropping her detection would mean 2 oponents will have a chance of winning against Frieren.... ofcourse few of them can keep up with her nuke-like spells

Arcade'owy Łowca

Frieren's detection is outstanding, so there's no way anyone beside someone on Fern level of hiding could deceive her like that. And as Frieren's mentor said, mages don't usually train like Fern and Frieren does. They can hide their magic, but they won't do it all the time. When Frieren's detection breaks, she already knows where everyone are, beforehand.

Eico

the animation in this episode or in this fight was crazy good. Might be a hot take but I liked the animation more than Demon Slayer Season 2(entertainment district) and more than swordsmith village

FullHeart

I really felt for Serie this episode. Frieren saying "you're not sad?" mirrors the people at Himmel's memorial saying "that elf girl isnt even crying". Elves probably just take longer to process pain/trauma like that. But you can see Serie already recalling how Flamme smiled, her favorite spell, how she held her hand, her dreams. She must have loved Flamme a lot. And then a mere thousand years later she finally even did what Flamme asked and took over as leader of the mages; she did say elves can put off making a decision for a millennium I suppose.

Daniel arisa

Two opponents who are are strong as Frieren and Fern that knows all her weaknesses and patterns, any other person would be dead before they even counter her first and second spells, at least that’s what I think

abiyyu hilmi

it's overcooked Madhouse🔥🔥🔥

Avaron

Honestly the best moment of this fight is at 15:07 and I don't think Luke ever realised what was going on. Both version of Frieren are going to cast an attack spell and defend against the opposing attack but because they are perfect copies of each other they instantly realise where the other will attack so they move the shield to the next spot and it proves to be a completely futile effort as they both follow it perfectly.

Subaquatic Toaster

"how are they gonna surround the door?" There's one entrance to where they are and literally no exit. It's quite literally the easiest position to surround possible.

GTB

Just to be clear, their strategy is based on a combination of 2 very precise and specific elements: 1) overwork Frieren's clone (it requires a mage capable of putting Frieren in a tough spot) and cause mana detection weaknesses (we're talking a few tenths of a sec) 2) at the same time, use Fern's singular abilities to completely mask her mana and fast-spelling; so as to be undetectable by the clone and wait for a possible fast-attack window. (and 3 : Avoid mage deaths :p) So a potentially fatal weakness, sure, but exceedingly difficult to exploit. Virtually impossible for most mages (or if there are many of them => many deaths). Note that to put sufficient pressure on the clone, for the first time, the spells used by Frieren (and his clone) are ancient, mana-intensive spells (too powerful for magical protective barriers). This is why they dodge or counter with an equivalent spell. This strategy only works because the true Frieren keeps the clone intensely occupied. Alone, Fern didn't stand a chance. Will her attack be enough to kill the clone? Don't forget that for 25 episodes now, the show has been showing us just how fucking out of the league Frieren is... ps: About the other clones: with the mages in a dead end, sandwiched between all the clones and Frieren's clone, the situation could very quickly turn catastrophic.

Marcio Neves

8:13 right up to this point I was thinking "no way! will she suggest using a Mimic?"... but, no Mimic... this time 😁

Frentzy

i'd summary this in: To beat yourself, the easiest and fastest way is to have have a team of yourself and someone else. You vs You will keep yourself so busy there won't have time to react for the 2nd person. Nothing special here.

USful

Yup, Frieren's other skills compensate for her vulnerability -- and because her other skills are so high, it's almost as if she doesn't have such a weakness against your average mage.

Dj

Lawine must've wrestled regularly with all her brothers that she's taking it out on Kanne. She should change profession

Aliziel

omg!! what if it survived?!?

GTB

Twice, it's made clear that the condition is not sufficient. Richter feels that since Frieren excels in so many areas, they can't take advantage of this weakness. Frieren points out that if they all went into battle, victory would almost be assured, but at the cost of most of them dying. So it's not enough for Frieren to keep his clone busy. Fern has 2 skills that make the strategy viable: she can conceal her mana (to hide from the clone by taking advantage of its short detection weakness) and she has a particularly fast Zoltrack. /!\ spoiler coming : spoiler warning And even with this strategy, although Frieren will offer her several openings, Fern will not succeed in killing the clone and will suffer an attack of unknown nature that will instantly destroy her magic wooden staff and injure her. Saved by Frieren by killing the clone.

BRUNO Marques

Still have a few episodes left. This isn't over. Frieren excels against multiple opponents remember, the 1st time she fought Aura she decimated her army + multiple demons (Lugner included) without her being able to cast her soul magic. Frieren is extremely nasty in a group fight, exactly because of her weakness. She just blasts everything. When your method of fighting is surprising the enemy with overwhelming attacks, you don't need to detect much while doing it. Her current fighting style only exists because Himmel admonished her during the Aura fight. Also, the other clones aren't pushovers.

Zer0

I honestly didn't understand how walking to the wall bit resulted in "When casting a spell, she stops detecting mana for a brief moment". Frienen wasn't casting magic before Fern fired Zoltraak. Translation issues? So I looked at the manga for this scene and it describes it as "The instant a spell is cast, her mana detection is interrupted for a mere fraction of a second." Which makes more sense with the explanation Frienen gives later about the knowledge of Zoltraak being relatively new to her while Fern grew up knowing it.

Fabien

The cool lady is Methode, she seems incredibly versatile as a mage. Not only did she try to see if hypnosis or binding magic worked on Frieren, but here we saw that she can even use priest magic (healing magic) with a holy scripture, which isn't really "mage" magic. She's kind of Jack of all trade, doing a bit of everything.

FaerieRose

Day 32 requesting that we watch Ascendance of a Bookworm after Vinland Saga. (Phew, made it in under the wire.)

Fabien

You underestimate the other clones imho. Anyway I have to admit that I didn't really like how they ended that ep (even if I liked everything else about the episode), in the anime specifically.

Lex

When two frierens first pick up their wand they are aiming for the fastest normal attack magic, but cuz both of them reacted fast with defense magic they both decide start using AOE magic.

SakakiMaya

I too thought they were going to toss a mimic into the room. But a comment somewhere I saw made sense. Since Frieren has been 100% searching the dungeon she's already found all of the mimics so there are none left.

Muligan Shinzuo

I thought Frieren only uses basic magic to fight?

GTB

Especially for the anime? The manga chapter is exactly the same and ends in exactly the same way.

Luis Sanchez

To fight mages of the current era yes! To fight the last legendary mage nope 🙃

vesolan

i think she only drops her mana detection for a sec or maybe even less then that so all she need to do to not get countered is to hit every one with a big spell the need to move/defend and she will already have her detection up again and she will not let any one surround her but frieren vs frieren is to even for her to have time to try to find were fern is she is really good at hiding her own mana

Rimmar

btw did you notice that Killua have same voice actor as Serie? :P

WWEdeadman

16:30 That is a surfboard stretch. Pretty popular submission move in wrestling.

Kyle Garrett

The drop is only while casting a spell and that's a very brief window. On top of that, most people don't realize Frieren's weakness because they just assume that as an Elven Mage that fought the Demon King, she wouldn't have a weakness that is only present in apprentices typically. As they mentioned in this episode, most people can't capitalize on this weakness even if they know it exists. Fern is unique because the entire series they've built up how fast she is at casting spells, and how simple and fast Zoltraak is. So Fern is like the perfect counter to Frieren, since she's an expert at the fastest skill, and is unnaturally fast at casting spells too. So it's not that Frieren automatically loses to multiple mages at once, only that there's a much higher chance to beat her in a group fight, though she's still insanely powerful and hard to fight. There's a reason they assumed that if the entire group attacked the clone together than the majority of them would die trying to win.

Kenneth Maliwat

Fern once again proving that stealth archers are OP

axilir21

Let's go ! Glad to hear you'll be watching Re:Zero for sure :D

Hawk of Battle

Yeah I'm actually a little concerned we haven't seen a Fern replica yet. Everyone's been so focused on the Frieren copy, but Fern is almost as terrifying.

Eien

The detail of both Frieren and her clone trying to find openings and simultaneously shielding in anticipation of it so fucking smooth.

Pelle Andersson

From what I have seen and heard frieren is short because she is still in her younger years as an elf. You saw kraft and he looks to be 30-40 (human years). It wouldnt surprise me if there is an end age for elfs but no elf has lived long enough to reach those years. Perhaps this will just be a mystery to the viewers and be up to their own perspective to be the truth.

Stefan

Fern bazooka! Noice animation! Very interesting perspective of Serie about human race time limit and its potential
