Comments

Marcio Neves

Ok, let's see what you brought this time 😁

Nikkelz

I was one of the people touting kingdom in earlier reactions. I still say it has an amazing story wrapped in history/myth of the waring kingdoms period of china. I WOULD LOVE for a reactor to check it out but idk if it would do well as a series on anyone's channel... sadly the first season and a little into season 2 suffers from a terrible choice of CGI for the battles which I know turns a lot of audience away. I know Luke has said in the past he's not picky about animation but this is more so how many people will actually appreciate watching it as episode 1-3 is usually what gets people hooked on shows and the lack of high fidelity will harm the viewership... :/

Juho Kaartoaho

At least got a small bit but still gonna ask you to react properly to Metallic Rouge OP.

Elle2128

Fighting pigeons lmao. Sasaki and Peeps is great. #22 is the Witch and the Beast, very dark but interesting so far.

Alex Lavigne

I keep saying it but please react The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic opening it was 18 on this list.

Roxy’s Holy Relic

Gushing Over Magical Girls (#25) needs more love imo. It’s one of the first boldly fan service ecchi anime in years since anime went mainstream among the fiction morality police of Twitter/tiktok zoomers that permanently ruined many anime fandoms. Glad to see anime like this making a comeback. If you’re going to do genre based tournaments one of them needs to be in the ecchi category because that seems to be the one genre you haven’t really explored yet. (May need to be Patreon exclusive depending on what’s picked)

Marcio Neves

Yet still no love for Unwanted Undead Adventurer. That opening song is awesome, a really "must check"

Danbro 77

Why do you keep saying frieren was overshadowed? It’s been the number 1 anime of all time for over 2 months even with the crazy fma fans review bombing it.

Moriyasha01

There is a anime that mixes characters from different anime, its called isekai Quartet

Vic97

To answer your question, there is an anime called: "Isekai Quartet" which is indeed a crossover (in Marvel cinematic universe style) of the series: Konosuba, Overlord, Re:Zero, Saga of Tanya the Evil and others. Even though I think you've already reacted to the opening.

Sebastián Zavaleta B

You're reacting to Sword Art Online???? OMG!!! What a time to be alive! Btw: all songs on this list are BANGERS

IvanBV

damn, kingdom animation is SO bad the first season, but god, the whole anime is just amazing, waiting for this last season to end to bing it.

nightovizard .

He said in general he doesnt care that much about the animation but the story, so i can only highly recommend kingdom.

Tatersalad666

Please react to the March Comes in Like a Lion endings and Girls Last Tour and A Place Further than the Universe openings and endings.

Shiwa chan

FYI Coldrain did the OP for the new NINJA KAMUI anime called Vengeance .

wildhunt1973

I'm loving the live action movies on Netflix. I do want to check out the anime.

ElectricAnt

Bravern and Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic are so slept on

Shendri27

if you want there is a crossover OAV with One piece / Toriko and Dragon ball !

Ryan Thomas

Please do a reaction to the Ragna Crimson openings there are only 2 of them and they are both great openings 100% the type of music you would enjoy as well.

John

Still waiting on that full Gushing Over Magical Girls opening 😢

wildhunt1973

I have loved a lot of Winter 2024 anime, but the one that I find myself loving the most is "Kyuujitsu no Warumono-san (Mr. Villain's Day Off.)" It's just a chill, relaxed anime. And the main character is hilarious. I also like "Gushing Over Magical Girls" for...other reasons. "Metallic Rouge" is good. But the comedy of the year (so far) has to go to "Bang Brave Bang Bravern." Overall, Winter 2024 has been a banging beginning to the year. Edit: Oh, and the #29 spot is "'Tis Time for 'Torture', Princess", I believe, another just out there funny anime.

Sai

It's bias, Luke. I am very bias about anime openings as well. I prefer ones I watch already. I also prefer high energy hype openings. Not a fan of the slow soft ones. It's gotta get me hyped to watch the ep. i never skip the openings after all.

MonographicSingleheaded

People get hyped over shows they watch. Too bad there is no real unbiased ranking of the songs alone.

_TKD_

I mean, he has watched NGNL, Konosuba, and Mushoku Tensei, but I certainly wouldn't complain about getting some that are more focused on the ecchi aspect

Link

Apart from Eren you were at first just describing Isekai Quartet when you asked if there are any anime with characters from other anime :P

axilir21

It's crazy how Gushing over magical girls is one of the top anime of the season even though it's pretty much h*ntai

axilir21

29. It's not Delicious in Dungeon (#9 on this list), it's an anime called ''Tis time for torture, princess''. Basically food torture ... that's all I'll say 25. Soooo, you want to watch this anime, but not reacting to it ^^' 24. Ishura OP is easily top 10 of the season but everyone dropped it first episode because of CGI ... 22. It's called ''The Witch and the Beast'' 14. You indeed haven't reacted to the full Undead Unluck OP ^^ 1. Mashle's 2nd OP shouldn't work but it does maan D: Also, here is the full list of the different animes you've watched, a total of 35 animes: - 86 Eighty-Six - A silent voice - Attack on Titan - Chainsaw Man - Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Death Note - Dr. Stone - Fate/stay night UBW and Heaven's feel - Fate/Zero - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Hell's Paradise - Hellsing Ultimate - Howl's Moving Castle - I want to eat your pancreas - Jujutsu Kaisen - Kaguya-sama - Konosuba - Made in Abyss - Mushoku Tensei - No game No Life - One Punch Man - Oshi no Ko - Parasyte - Princess Mononoke - Puella magi madoka magica - Re:Zero - Saga of Tanya the evil - Spirited Away - Spy x Family - Steins;gate - That time I got reincarnated as a slime - The eminence in shadow - Violet Evergarden - Weathering with you - Your Name You're currently watching 8 animes: - Code Geass - Frieren - Gate - Heavenly Delusions - Hunter x Hunter - Overlord - Solo Leveling - Spy x Family season 2

Valrenas

The Weakest Tamer and Villainess Level 99 ops are sleeper hits for me, seriously

Marian Negoșanu

Luke, yes, there are cameos from characters in other anime

wildhunt1973

Oh, h*ntai is far, far, far worse. Gushing Over Magical Girls does push the line, but it never goes full-on. I think it actually makes fun of that and magical girl anime at the same time.

Roxy’s Holy Relic

That’s true and those are all great anime but I would class all of those on the lower tier of the ecchi category. He needs to experience some peak ecchi at least once

Roy Meulblok

I did not expect that #1 spot xd.

FaerieRose

My favorite OPs this season are Apothecary Diaries, Villainess Lv. 99, and Frieren. Day 9 of requesting that we watch Ascendance of a Bookworm after Vinland Saga.

Hawk of Battle

I'm actually glad you're going to watch SAO soon, as once you do you can then watch SAO Abridged, the superior version.

wildhunt1973

Yeah, Luke is definitely an anime fan now. But he still should watch a few older ones: "Outlaw Star" and original "Trigun" among them.

wildhunt1973

And it's actually a very short song, actually not much longer than the OP.

wildhunt1973

Yes! I keep forgetting to list that one and I'm ashamed that I keep forgetting because the anime is so good!

Frentzy

Luke reacting first time to all of these songs: oh they are nice Second time reacting to these songs: OMG THEY ARE SO GOOD WTF

Lu C

I still hope we get to see a reaction to Kingdom. But for this to win any tournament we would need to rally some troops and create alliances 🤔

Eliana

About the cross universe anime, it is not exactly, but the "A Certain" franchise scratches that itch, but its been taking a long time between releases. It is comprised of the main story "A Certain Magical Index" and the spinoffs "A Certain Scientific Railgun" and "A Certain Scientific Accelerator", together making it 7 seasons in total. It certainly has that good MCU feeling whenever the cast of different "sides" of the franchise meet each other

Jc

Still waiting for that bocchi

syaimaral

I would definitely put shangri la op as #1. It's the only song I would play from this list just because I want to listen to it over and over again. It speaks to me, that adrenaline, that excitement. Solo level op is good, but it's not what I'm looking for. I can recognize it's a good song, but it's not a song I would pop on or keep coming back to. For mashle, well isn't it just a meme song at this point? I know creepy nuts from there op and ed songs for the vampire girl which were a lot better imo. Random tidbit: after watching the most recent episode of ragna crimson I was freaking out saying the show is AOTish. The last time I freaked out like that was jujutsu kaisen. Absolutely brutal.

Jurriën Bolding

I do really like the Mashle S2 OP but number 1? Ehhh... I wouldn't put it above One Piece, Bokuyaba, Frieren and Solo Leveling

Kyle Garrett

For these kinds of videos I usually watch it twice. The first time with my eyes closed, and the a second time with them open. That way I have an impression of just the song, and an impression of the song as part of the OP, without worrying about the bias of knowing the anime.

ZckFox

Isekai Quartet is the most notable anime that has characters from other anime by other authors crossing over, because of licensing reasons that's pretty rare. Other than that you sometimes will have anime like Carnival Phantasm where it is characters from different anime series made by the same author crossing over. This case is a little more common, but usually only done as a special episode. Cross overs or cameos are a little more common in manga than in anime as it usually done as promotional material for the two series involved. Neither of these cases are really as frequent as cameos or cross overs seen in Western comics like Marvel or DC.

Mason

the first part of the first season is pretty god after that hehehe oh and Sao Alice first season too

TheReveredNinja

A lot of anirankers rank the songs based purely on the song. I never take visuals, popularity, or much else into account. It is all about how good the song is. Of course eliminating bias is important.

rostikowb

Me too, I usually need to listen to it 4-5 times before I like it. There are some exceptions, for example the 1st OP of apothecary diaries has become one of my favorites, although I haven't watched the show yet 😂

rostikowb

I'm one of those who don't like K-POP, so I wouldn't put Solo Leveling in the top 10 😂

Eric

I wonder if the "JJK overshadowed Frieren" sentiment is a Europe based sentiment, cause i never understood the stance on that as Frieren i found overshadowed JJK in all media outlets i saw here in the west (Canada) . And in Japan Frieren is almost like a cultural phenomenon right now where its over taking almost everything (food , schools , music , books , even hotels weird i know but theres context for it). The only time i personally saw JJK make waves was Gojo incident , and Mappa overworking. Otherwise its been frieren everywhere.

ZckFox

Doubtful, it's probably more like the majority of people around him that he has to talk to about anime are all shounen junkies that only view and like action shows like JJK or Demon Slayer so he assumes because he's never heard of it it must not be popular.

Andy Hinton

The anime at 25 is a ecchi anime with nudity so not a stream anime. Also the girl your talking about is 14 years old....

Andy Hinton

You need to watch some older anime to build your library. Code Code Geass is a good old one. But anime like Cowboy Bepop, and Eureka Seven.

Jordan Grinde

Its sucks that i cant do the twitch stuff because I'm working when you are doing it. But there are some interesting older and not so old animes that I would love to recommend if not for watching at least for their OP and OST reactions would be Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Aldnoah Zero OSTs, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts, The Legend of Galactic Heroes, Basilisk, Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign(Show Reaction).

Jordan Grinde

Also on a personal note, I am so glad Kingdom is going to finally get it's due. You will not be disappointed and will fill at the very least, your non-magic genre. Keep up the excellent work BROTHER LUKE

Jordan Grinde

Despite the early parts of the anime's flaws, I'm actually heartened to see so many actually recommend it. It's just gets better with each season, and it will fill the non-magic genre of his viewing schedule.

Aaron Yoghurt

Would you consider doing the Gintama endings? :D

Tasel

so at what point are you no longer a "new anime fan"? lol

Yui

Please react to Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny and Gundam SEED Freedom openings and endings. Takanori Nishikawa (TM Revolution) just appeared on The First Take performing his new song FREEDOM as well.

Him

Yo side note there’s a new opening for a show called “Ninja Kamui” on adult swim- it’s by Coldrain so right up your alley… first episode kicked ass but that’s a separate story

Faruzan senpai

hi luke, i wonder if you already react to anime "Hinamatsuri" its a good comedy anime

Irimu

Knowing that Apothecary Diaries lost to SAO is the most dissapointing thing of the year so far...

Some0neElse

Is there anime where characters from different anime shows up? Yes - Its called Isekai Quartet :D As for reacting to anime from each genre: Theres like 20+ main genres but as you may have noticed - anime overlaps multiple genres so its very hard to pick 1 from each Genres goes like this: Josei - Targeted to adult women Seinen - Targeted to adult men Shonen - Targeted to teens+ Shojo - Targeted to teen girls Shoujo - Teen+ girls Kodomomuke (Kodomo) - Targeted to children Slice of life - daily stuff Mecha - Giant robots (mostly) Harem - no need for clarification :P Ecchi - Cheeky stuff Yaoi and Yuri - BL and GL Isekai - literally "Another world" And then theres the usual ones - Horror, Action, Drama, Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy, Supernatural, Sports, Mystery etc

Itto Sanzzo

Umu, both Shangri-la Frontier openings are very good.

Stefan

This is rigged, you already knew #1, it is not a coincidence 😂

Marcio Neves

As usual, I will walk down the list commenting about the ones I am watching, and skipping the ones I am not (even if a know about the music/anime) 27 - Sasaki and Peep - the show is about a 39 years old salaryman that suddenly finds a bird that is the reincartion of a powerful mage from another world. It is quite fun, there is a lot of stuff mixed in, but so far they seen to balance well. I like the music, I think it is good, I never skip the opening (Madkid, the same ones the made all openings for Shield Hero) 😁 22 - The Witch and the Beast - it is a story of two people that hunt down "evil" witches to prevent disasters to happen, in a somewhat contemporary worls where witches exists and known. At least is what I got from the first episode. This opening theme is very good 👍🏽 21 - Tsukimichi (S2) - you have already reacted to the first opening of this show, from the first season. And I have already commented about it. To keep it short: some dude is summoned to be a hero in another world, but the Goddes of that world thinks him to be "too ugly". She gives him the ability to understand any NON-HUMAM language, and casts him away into the wastelands inhabited by monster creatures, where he forges unusual friendships. Again, this theme for the second season is very good. I like it a lot 20 - Hokkaido Gals are Adorable - Oh, I like anything Masayoshi Oishi makes, either singing himself or just composing. The story is about a boy that moves to Hokkaido in the winter, and befriends a local Gal/Gyaru. Very light romcom. And the music is spetacular, as usual from Masayoshi 😁 19 - Sengoku Youko - I will make an exception for this one, because I am not watching it, yet (although it is on my list), but the opening is sung by Mindaryn. I LOVE HER VOICE SO MUCH!! Since the 4th opening of Tensura I listen to anything she sings and never skip an opening or ending that is performed by her 😁 18 - The Wrong Way of Using Healing Magic - another song that is BANGER! "Cure" is just fantastic. The anime is about three high school students that are suddenly summoned to another world to be Heroes. The thing is: the main charactere was not supposed to come along, he just happened to be close to the other two when that happens. But, regardless of that, he discover to have a very special kind of magic: Healing Magic, wich is very rare in that world. And he starts to be trained by a "tiranic" woman that wants him to develop his abilities to the exteme, so he would be able to proper rescue and real injured soldiers in the battles against the forces of the Demon Lord. I have already read a little of the manga and though it to be fantastic. And the anime does not fall behind, it is very good! 17 - Villainess Level 99 - as with many of this season, another Isekai. This one is about a woman that dies and reincarnes as the secret Villainess of a game she played. She tries to avoid to be considered the "Secret Villain" of this new world, but while growing up, before the time we follow in the show, she ended up training so much that she reached the maximum level anyone can have in that world. I like this anime very much. And the music is also awesome, the voice of Mayu Maeshima is supperb (ex-MYTH & ROID. She also performed the ending of the 4th season of Overlord) 16 - A Sign of Affection - oh, man, this anime is so, so, so addorable. Is about the love story of a deaf girl (the one you see wearing the hearing aid device) and a young man that travels A LOT all around the world, all the time. He speaks many languages, and get interested in learning sign language as well. Very, very good, a MUST SEE. And the opening is very beatiful: Yuki no Ne, by Novelbright. Worth check the official music video (with scenes from the show, in their official channel) 15 - Bucchigiri?! - MAN, I almost skipped this one. THANK GOD I took a chance to check the first episode. It was an instant MATCH. I am enjoying this one very much. And both the opening and the ending are fantastic musics, and both of them have official music videos wich would be great to be reacted alongside the actual opening and ending videos. I recommend this one 1000x 👍🏽 12 - Metalic Rouge - this one is hard to explain, but to summarise, it happend in a far future where mankind have spread along the solar system, many planets and moons have been terraformed, and traveling among the planets are commonplace (much like it is in Cowboy Bebop). The protagonist, Rouge, hunts down "rogue" androids that pose some sort of "risk" to the society (although it is not very clear how, and the backstory seems quite shady). The music is quite good, but I wouldn't list it this high, I think most the ones I listed above are better 09 - Dungeon Meshi - this one is pure commedy. It is about a group of adventurers that are broken, plain and simple. But they have to get back into the dungeon to rescue one of their friends, that was "eaten" by a dragon, and has a time limite for survival before beind properly digested by it. And since they are broken, they don't have money to by suplies, like FOOD, and the leader of the group decides that they will instead hunt and eat monsters while they go back down the dungeon. It is quite fun, and the opening is just awesome! 08 - Classroom of Elite (S3) - I have to say: the first season os awesome, the second season was good, but this third one is, I think, dragging. The story for me looks quite slow, and there are so many characters, conspirations and sub-plots, that I get lost sometimes 😅. I think the music is just ok, I wouldn't put it this high, also. 07 - Apotechary Diaries - you have already reacted the full opening and I think you may have already read in the comments an overall about the plot. I know I have commented about it more than once, already 😅. This second opening is just as fantastic as the previous one 05 - Shangri-La Frontier - as I've already commented before, the show started REALLY GOOD, but before the end of the ear it was getting less and less interesing. So much that I haven't found the will to return to it and catch up with the episoded from this year. But, the new opening by the same FZMZ is quite good, as much as the first one. 03/02 - Frieren and Solo Leveling - nothing to add, you know all that there's to know about those two 😁 01 - Mashle - if left alone, I don't know if I would like the music that much. But combined with the show's vibe, it mix in VERY WELL. And because of that I like it so much. BUT, I wouldn't cast it as #1. Those popular rankings are all biased by watch people actualy have seen and liked (or not), they are never based on the opening by ifself And, as I have already mentioned, too bad The Unwanted Undead Advernturer didn't make into any of the lists. Both the opening (Immortal, by Juvenile) and the ending (Keep Your Fire Burning, by Mao Abe) a very good songs, a real "must react", both of them. About charecters from another anime, it happens, but not that often. It used to be quite common with CLAMP works, because beside reusing "actors" (the same character designs being reused as different characters all along their works), some of the manga/anime are connected, with returning characters. Like Subaru and Seishiro, from Tokyo Babylon, returning in X, for example. Or the Mokonas. Or Kimihiro and Yuuko, the main character from xxxHolic, wich both appear briefly in Tsubasa Chronicles (the show is pronounced just "HOLIC", no "ex-ex-ex". Rule of thumb: if ou see a single or group of "x"'s in a manga/anime title, just skip it, they are most likely mute. So, it is not "Hunter-ex-Hunter", but just "Hunter-Hunter")

Anonymous

I think the "a certain/to aru" series would count for the "characters from other anime" stuff, as the main characters have their own shows but they meet quite often

Asher Sanjan Abraham

You should definitely start reacting to more ending songs of different anime, other than the mega popular ones.

Sam

Idk if this is controversial… but the ending for Solo Leveling is much better than the opening. The opening is fine but not top 3 IMO. Would definitely put Frieren and Dangers in my Heart Above it.

Mariokempes

I think song sucks, visuals are ok but nothing amazing for this popular series
