the light novel is much darker than the anime, the author even rewrote the ending of one of the chapters because it upset so many people. I wont spoil which version got adapted into the anime though

Just to put momon’s thought in context. One of the name clementine mentioned that’s on par with her is the head warrior ains observed closely back in the fight with the angels. Meaning he knows he can beat her with the handicap he is giving. :)

This anime is like Ains "Grasp Heart" makes you invested in characters then rips your heart out. 7:00 Ninya was the mage, she pretended to be a boy since the adventurers had said girls in a group were bad, Clementine took her time torturing Ninya. 12:25 Each scroll can be used once only, Ains is going to need a lot of parchment to make more scrolls considering how many scrolls they are using this time.

One of the four mentioned by Clementine has already appeared in the series. Gazef Stronoff is the Warrior Captain of the Re-Estize Kingdom who appeared to defend Carne Village from Slane Teocracy's Sunlight Scripture led by Nigun Grid Luin (that Angel dude).

You're finally realizing the true strength of this anime, the characters. Every single even seemingly insignificant side character is so INTERESTING. You could do a full series surrounding almost any character in this show and I'd watch it.

Did you miss when they revealed that Ninya was a girl secretly pretending to be a boy. In the scene where Ains finds Ninya's corpse it showed a band tied tightly across the chest and a flashback to when they said letting girls on the team causes complications. I think you missed it because you were too shocked that they actually killed them off.

I've commented it before, but Ains (Momonga) is the villain of this story. Don't be surprised when he says something inhuman or evil. He has already said it himself in the first few episodes, human suffering doesn't effect him the way it should. He's undead in body and mind.

One thing I love about this anime is, you don't really get too many anime where the villain is the main character. At least, I haven't seen that many (HELLSING, yes, but even Ains would squash Hellsing in a heartbeat--just my opinion). So seeing this told from his POV is really cool.

So what is actually going on in this anime? I haven't been able to detect an overarching plot so far. That in itself isn't a show stopper (see Re:Zero), but it doesn't feel very coherent. The MC is vastly overpowered to the point that there are no real challenges. I mean it's fun to watch the MC obliterate the enemy with a single shot (or two), but you can only see that sort of thing a couple of times before it gets pointless ("Oh my, another enemy, well they're dead"). Momonga's NPC groupies are unrealistically loyal with none of the side plots you might expect within an evil horde. So far there hasn't been any character development amongst them (nor with the MC). Even the artwork and animation isn't particularly good. So why am I enjoying it? Probably because it is so brain-dead easy to watch and Luke seems to be enjoying it so much. Can't wait for the next episode :-)

The main point of the story is That Momonga Doesn'y have any development, it's Just degradation. The people that do show Character Development are the Side characters, who have to experience an ungodly amount of strength. The real plot points come later. Remember Ainz and most of the NPC's are Fully leveled characters. The story mode has already been finished and now it's new game plus

Clementine's VA is the same as Tanya from Saga of Tanya the Evil. Very good VA. There's lots of references or plot points that are made in the first season that will come to light in seasons later, you may forget some of these lol its very well written though

I don't think Momonga wanted to test the granny. Her grandson is super dangerous AND he figured out his real identity in mere seconds. Having both of them submit completely would ensure security. PLUS, they are both skilled alchemists and they know a lot about the world. I am sure Momonga wants to use that.

I haven't seen anyone say that MT is darker than Overlord... To be honest, the first seasons of the anime are not very well done, they don't have enough budget, they don't convey what happened in LN, they showed us the group that was killed and we didn't feel anything because we knew them for too short a time. Even the fact that the "boy" magician was tortured, when Clementine found out that it was actually a girl, she cut off her ears, tongue, gouged out her eyes, all this is not quite clear in the anime, it looks a bit cartoonish, so it may seem that Overlord is not that dark

Him asking for everything in return also goes back to when he saved the village. If he "did it out of kindness" they'd probably be very wary of him, but flat out stating he wants something in return makes him more trust-worthy.

That's fair. But I don't want to see him have a negative reaction to (insert spoiler) because he didn't realize this on his own. There are a ton of people who straight up stopped watching the series back when season 2 and 3 were airing cause they thought of Ains was an anti-hero.

i mean.. it didnt bothered me much either.. but after watching some of the best animated animes.. yknow.. fate,ds and now solo leveling.. more i cant think rigth now.. it pains me what they did in overlord.. :D just a bit :D i still like the show^^ cant wait for the movie maybe next last season and ill probably read the manga/LN after the end of the anime just to se how much they cut out :P

@Matt It might also be because she had the strongest motivation. They mentioned the whole thing about saving her sister and they said that infront of Clementine. So she was the person that was likely to hold out for longest if she was tortured.

@antoine Jones LOL. From the start of s1 I got the vibes of a villain. He always acted "arrogant", but like luke pointed, even when he's alone he act 'arrogant'. Which is a villain trait trope. And since we always have hero MC, having a villain MC was so refreshing, the annoying part was the lack of action the anime provided compared to the 'teasing' it did offer. I wanted to see more ainz flexing @_@ and killing ppl like a true villain. But ig he is just fake villain.

It's worth noting that this isn't a strategy available in any MMO I know of, it's a strategy that was absolutely necessary to do in D&D 3.5 however, at high enough levels. One of the names Clementine mentioned was the Head Warrior guy Ains saved, so pretty unlikely she'll be any threat at all, since Ains was way beyond that guy.

I've seen a bunch of reaction to this series and only 1 of them has ever caught that Ninya was a girl, and he suspected it after the offhand comment about the team being all guys and Ninays face. I only got it on my first viewing because of the chest rap.

Ainz wasn't necessarily saying he would kill people like Clementine does. A good reason for Ainz to do that could be if the adventurers threatened/attacked his people or perhaps if they had vital information that Nazarik required he might torture and kill them without much thought. All for the betterment of Nazarik not for personal pleasure. Similar to Clementine, but not the same.

How the fuck would anyone consider Mushoku Tensei darker than Overlord? Overlord probably has the darkest world. Although Re:Zero easily has the darkest experience for the MC.

Clementine is strong Indeed, she considers herself as good as gazef stronoff(the king's Warrior), and other 3 people strong as a adamantite level. And watchin the plates on her clothes there are a lot of copper, silver, and gold ones, Even There are one myhtril, the green-ish one. Above they only are orichalchum, and adamantite, the strongest, so, yeah maybe have no a great display of Quality on plates, but maybe cause she goes after the weak ones althoug she is strong
