At last - been waiting for this :-) LOL - 3 seconds in and "I don't understand..." - that's our Luke :-) Same sex public nudity is common in Japan. At an onsen everyone is naked. No one cares if others (same sex) are around. But if a bit of simple nudity bothers you then don't worry, there's no more of it in this series*. * EDIT: Oops - Apparently there are some more scenes but I'd forgotten them. Keep that black curtain ready :-)

Trust me. nothing we'll be explained. There are some hints but like we know jack all. Just take it as is. This is an amazing show though very happy you started it.

Keep in mind that this show respects your intelligence - it doesn't really spell things out for you. Therefore, it's important to pay CLOSE attention to every little bit of detail, so you'll need to concentrate and try to keep this in mind when watching. As long as you do that you'll probably eventually be able to put 1 and 2 together and get the answers to your questions. And I'll say this right now, that this is one of those shows that's even better on a second watch due to some details being pretty easy to miss without the context/power of hindsight. Also, please give us your theories as you go along!

Yes it's there. You have to search for it by its Japanese name though 'Tengoku Daimakyo'. They really didn't bother to advertise it. That might be why it was a bit of an unknown to many people.

so other people already told you but this anime will NOT explain stuff, try to pay close attention to details and I recommend you to take note of the names if you can't memorize them

Heavenly Delusion is definitely a "show, don't tell" type of series, lots of little details are important later on, but they're not necessarily made obvious at the time. Also I will add, this isn't a complete show so don't expect answers to everything in these 12 episodes. Think of it more like watching the first 12 episodes of Attack on Titan, and how little we knew at the time!

Also Heavenly Delusion is generally very highly rated by anyone who watched it. But as it was picked up by Disney instead of the more mainstream anime services, it didn't get as much attention as it deserves.

Maru is searching for a place called Heaven, Kiruko is searching for Robin (a friend of hers, the guy with black/brown hair on the photo) and a guy called Doc or sir (the guy with a mark on his face on the photo). There is this other place where there are kids (we have seen Mimihime the girl that supposedly dream of the exam test and dreamed of two people saving her, one looking like Tokio, Tokio had a message on her test about the outside of the outside and ask the director about the outside of the outside, Taka who has amazing physical abilities, Shiro who loves working on machines and stuff, and Kona who loves to draw and has drawn a fish with arms.

This anime is really a great example of "throwing you into the deep" and "show, don't tell". Unlike with most anime, don't expect this story to be spoonfed to you with countless exposition scenes.

Excited for this! The show definitely has a heavy mystery element, they do reveal quite a bit over time and some of it is left up to the viewer to figure out. Definitely missed some stuff on my initial watch but I think it's OK. At the beginning of the video I was kind of wondering if this was Patreon-only; this anime is "TV-MA" in NA for a reason. There will definitely be some scenes that you'll need to consider blurring on YT.

A true hidden gem! (Hidden thanks to Disney+). One of the greatest anime of 2023. (some episodes do have post-credit scenes) /!\ warning: You'll be confused at first, that's normal. Heavenly Delusion develops a story that raises a LOT of questions that will take a long time to answer, the writing deals with difficult and sometimes unusual themes. There's a lot that won't be clearly explained. There's a LOT to read for yourself in this anime. To read between the lines, to read in the silent storytelling, in the foreshadowing, the themes and their meaning. It's best to memorize what you're watching to understand the subtleties. -> About the landlady so casual with Kiruko's nudity : Cultural reminder => Japanese people don't see nudity the same way as we do. And Japan has a strong culture of baths, places where nudity is socially normal and even obligatory (all clothing is forbidden, only the small towels provided are allowed). Bathing naked in public baths in front of everyone is perfectly normal and harmless for them. There are even mixed-sex baths, but less so than in the past. Nowadays, most establishments separate men and women. Young children (boys and girls) usually go with the women. it's also a common practice at home. It's common for children and parents to bathe together up to a certain age (around 10). Sometimes until middle school. If it seems weird for us...we can relate this way : for them, seeing someone naked in the bathing area is as normal as for us seeing near-naked people on the beach.

This is an incredible show to think about and theorize, I saw it in its premiere season and I didn't see an anime that theorized me so much since I saw the first seasons of Attack on Titan many years ago, it's a program that shows you a lot with small subtlety and at the same time it doesn't tell you anything, you have to pay a lot of attention and connect the points on your own, a second look is ideal for this program.

One thing that made an impression on me is that the inn keeper not only accepted paper money - she was eager to get some. If paper money is in circulation and well accepted ... it's a fairly 'soft' apocalypse.

first time i watch it too. I must say, it’s so disappointing and boring. I had huge expectations because of how much people talked about it , this first episode was really uninteresting to me. I will keep watching it, hoping it actually becomes interesting.

I haven't seen this, so I thought, " I'll try watching along". It's so much more annoying than watching you watch something I've seen already. " ehhhhhhh" "whaaat, I don't understand" . this show is full of mystery, it wont explain things for you, thats for you to figure out, which usually takes more than one watch, also this is only one season so its not finished yet, so all the pieces wont be in place by the end of this season

you're supposed to be confused right now, so just roll with it, try and come up with your own theories along the way as pieces fall onto your lap, nobody is gonna be mad at whatever you think is going on because everyone else who has watched this show knows just how confused they were when they were watching too

Never seen this before so for fun I'll post my own theories. No spoiler replies please! My theory is that 'Heaven' is the place the kids are at, and that like that placed caused the monsters. Since the girl said someone who looks like the boy is supposed to save her, my immediate thought is that, since this is anime, clones are involved. I'm guessing the monsters are failed experiments, while the kids there are 'perfected' clones / modified humans. I'm assuming that the boy on the outside is either trying to reach Heaven because a clone of himself/someone he cares about is there, or maybe he's a copy from a different location, escaped, and wants to free others? Given the robot teachers and the girl's ray gun I guess they could also be androids, and in that context maybe they're meant to fight the monsters? But that doesn't make as much sense to me, even if it would explain the soccer kid jumping multiple stories and being fine afterwards. Girl is also looking for two people, including a doctor, so chances are they're involved with Heaven too. Could be an interesting twist if maybe she is a clone and just doesn't know it, though in that case the boy can't be one? Someone also is contacting the boy inside the place about getting outside the outside, so I assume it's others that have escaped / or that are like Maru and trying to get people out of 'Heaven'.

Most of the time when you hear 'nee-chan' or 'nii-chan', unless it's stated at some point that they are family, it's usually a term of endearment for an older or more mature friend. Like calling someone 'bro' or 'sis'.

In trope terms, we'd call this world a Class 2 Apocalypse. In the very least, that means regional-planetary partial societal collapse. People still exist and some areas may be livable; small towns, villages, isolated settlements. Maybe even the odd larger town, but large scale infrastructure and governments may no longer function. Cause unknown. The monsters are the extra spicy topping.
