So Betty is a spirit like Puck is. Subaru formed a contract with her when he convinced to her to go with him, so he's a spirit arts user now like Emilia is. The ice magic Emilia uses isn't her own magic but spirit arts using the power of lesser spirits and Puck. Subaru can't use magic anymore due to destroying his gate earlier in the season, but he can use spirit arts now due to his contract with Betty. At least that's how I understood it.

if i remember correctly Subaru has profficiency in the same type of magic that Betty does (i believe light and dark, subaru has potential with Dark magic). so Subaru probably was doing at least SOMETHING. i could be wrong tho lol.

Btw you can use blankets on the floor and even the walls if you can figure out how to hang them in place of sound panels. Maybe some hooks, curtain rods, or nails? It won't look pretty but it's a good temporary solution, assuming you have some extra blankets, or are able to buy some cheaply. You could probably find some at a secondhand store for cheap.

Overlord does indeed complete the "Isekai Quartet", but ONLY for Season 1, since season 2 introduces additional Isekai characters. So it would make sense to watch Isekai Quartet season 1 after overlord, and then finishing up with Shield Hero and Cautious hero for season 2 (if i remember the characters right)

I think Roswaal overtook every of his descents and either suppressed their souls ( Goa'uld style) or pushed them out... Either way he did something really bad... Emilia jumping to conclusions... Still this shows how much is she lacking knowledge. She has a long road ahead for her to be a ruler one day. For the next reactions > I'm a bit disappointed, I hoped that these 3 slots would get something different to help Luke to experience other than fantasy/supernatural themes. These animes are also all from last decade. Together there are 144 episodes (not counting ovas/movies), till Christmas week. So I hope in 2025 there will be in the main slot some shojo or sci-fi or historical... Rewatching the OPs/EDs 👍

Puck wasn't really screwing with subaru specifically. He just gave Emilia an uncomplete sexed, omitting certain details and one of them is how babies are made. But im sure thets one of the topics Emilia and Subaru will "discuss" during the night ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Season 3 is rumored to cover the next two Arcs of the story, The teaser is just for Arc 5 but in the promotional material they show Arc 6 characters. The rumored amount of episodes is around 35-50 depending on how they direct and pace everything out with arc 5. Preproduction for season 3 has been crazy considering Arc 5 has some heavy animation needs for all of its fights. I'm super hype as an anime only from the few things I have heard.

Yes, as you correctly deduced Emilia THINKS she's pregnant because she kissed Subaru and that's obviously Puck's fault for telling her that. BUT! if you want, I can give you a darker interpretation about a detail a few episodes ago... So: Emilia thinks kissing makes babies. Remember back in ep 11 when Subaru got reduced to Swiss Cheese by the rabbits and Emilia was acting a bit crazy and in the end she kissed Subaru's corpse? Don't really know if she was supposed to have in mind THAT, but certainly adds a lot of dark to that scene in perspective.

Echidna looks different because the form she took in the trials, be it an illusion or an imperfect clone, was about 10+ years younger than she really was when she died. The real her was aging and more plain looking. She may have just wanted herself to look prettier and more approachable.

What makes this Isekai anime so endearing from the ones we’ve watched, (aside from Beatrice), is Subaru. A normal guy that uses his wit & knowledge of his former, contemporary world to deal with the fantasy universe that he’s now in. A very satisfying conclusion to S2.

It was explained in season 1 but it's been a while - magic users differ from spirit art users in where the magic comes from they use. Magic users: Internal magic -> Gate -> Cast spell Spirit art users: Magic in the area -> Spirit Contract -> Cast spell Since Subaru's Gate is entirely broken now he absolutely can't cast spells from inside anymore, but this is potentially a buff since his internal magic was kind of bad anyways. Now that he can take magic from the air and also has a contract with a greater spirit, Subaru now has a *ton* of room to grow as a caster.

I've given up on that myself. Luke's viewers have weird attachment to the newest shows, even if they are trash - some people in this thread even seemed to suggest Shield Hero as something he should watch. 💀 Luckily so far he's had at least one or two shows in the rotation that are decent, so as long as that continues, I guess it's fine.

The overlord movies that are out are recaps and then there will come out another movie that isn’t a recap movie like how the Made in abyss and Madoka magica movies did, except it’s not a sequel movie but more of a overlapping of season 4 with the timeline.

Ref Overlord I like the show (a lot) and I don't know why. Objectively, it doesn't seem that good but it WORKS for me. If I described the show to someone I doubt if they'd think it was a show worth watching. Ref Isekai quartet. I recommend reacting to the movie. If you watch the first episode of the series, you'll have all the info you need to understand what's going on in the movie. IMHO, the series wouldn't do well as a reaction (I enjoyed it, though)

Yeah, he really should start widening the genres he watches. Relying solely on the audience leads to a dead end because it's self-reinforcing. More of the same attracts more of an audience that likes more of the same - rinse, repeat. By all means take the audience preferences into some account, but throw in new stuff now and again. On the positive side, we do have Vinland saga coming up - swords aplenty, but no magic.

I very much enjoyed journey of ReZero with you. I had watched the first season years ago and though, Eh it was good, but I wasn't hooked. This time on the rewatch I enjoyed it so much more, and finally got around to watching season 2. Season 2 to me was sooo good, it really cranked up my interest in it. I bought volume 16, but I haven't gotten around to it. My daughters and I love Overlord so much. The current 2 movies are pretty much just recaps. I don't think you need to watch them? I don't know if there is any new content in them at all. There is a actual movie coming out this year, and it is part of the story. Just be warned that that the first 2 episodes are pretty slow, but I love world building, so for me its not a negative. I can't wait for Monday.

Well I'm sad now. Watching Re:Zero again with Luke was amazing. I can't say I'm looking forward to Overlord though - I've seen too many bad reviews of it, but here's hoping. I might give Demon Slayer another shot when it comes up. It does at least have pretty animation, if little else of merit.

Basically, Subaru has a contract with Betty and because of that he can use her mana to use magic Al shamac sends the user to basically a different dimension where they will never be able to come out of Betty used all the mana she was gathering for 400 years to use the spell so now she doesent have much mana anymore Also something about magic in re zero all magic has more to it than just the elemtn assigned to it. Example: Fire magic isnt just fire magic its kinda temperature magic, fire mages can use Ice spells too. Water magic is also healing magic etc. Rem has water magic, thats why she was able to cast ice spells and heal. Also an example, Puck is a fire spirit (Season 1 episode 13 emilia says "Puck, a great spirit who controls fire" but he always uses ice. Shadow/Yin magic has the quality of seperation (iirc) so the spell shamac seperates something, base shamac seperating you from your sense of vision. And highest shamac (Al shamac, the prefix Al means its the highest level of that spell basically) seperates things from basically the world

I was always confused by the whole Echidna face stuff also. Looking around most people seem to be saying it's because she's older in the coffin compared to the younger version of her that's projected in the trials. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a case similar to Roswaal though where he looked slightly different because presumably he's been transferring his soul into imperfect clones or maybe even decedents. The whole clone soul transfer thing to keep her immortal was originally her plan. Maybe she tried, the new body didn't work and died anyway, thus, her dead in a coffin with a slightly different looking body.

Also to clarify that baby thing, You know when Emilia froze everything she was still very young right, and when she was in the crystal her body still grew but her mind didnt because she was unconcious. So when she met puck in the forest (that part where puck is crying and emilia asks him why or something) she was still that young so Puck had to basically be her father for a while (and that comes with explaining things to her that she was curious about including "where do babies come from" so he said kissing i guess)

I believe he can't use Shamak (or other, regular, magic) because he broke his gate. Felis warned him he had to wait and let it heal. He didn't. I forget what episode it was in but when he cast his last Shamak you could hear the sound of his gate breaking.

Vinland saga is deep on my watch list, so I don't know. For historical I will put my money on Kingdom even if the season 1 has that unfortunate CGI. I never read manga (the arch is only now animated as 5th season) that a character managed to troll not only his opponent but aslo his alies + me as the reader.

A lot of cut content in the final episode sadly. One big cut cliffhanger that won't be mentioned in Season 3 is presented well in Echidnut's "How Re:Zero Season 2 REALLY Ends". So I would recommend watching that after the final episode. Other stuff will hopefully be mentioned in the beginning of s3, like details on Subaru and Beatrices contract.

Can we just stop for a moment and think about the fact that Emilia thought women got pregnant by kissing someone, and yet she still lets Subaru kiss her? That's how much she loves him, although she doesn't realize it yet. Well, regarding Overlord being the next anime, I'm sad because I wanted Demon Slayer to win (come on, we all want Luke to see THAT episode), but still, Overlord is also good. Guess I'm gonna have to be patient.

What if they do a s3 episode 0...like Mushoko Tensei did for s2? It's really an important scene because it changes EVERYthing. It just can't be left out, can it??? That is the only reason I would suggest not watching the Echidnut video covering it. But it would be shame if they do nothing with it and he just goes on thinking s2 had a happy ending. So... Watch it, I say! Just search for Echidnut how rezero s2 was supposed to end and you'll find it

Subaru and Betty both can use Yin magic, also since they have a contract Betty uses Mana from Subaru. One of the most basic Yin Magic spells, which even Subaru could use until the collapse of his gate, was Shamak. When cast, a blanket of black smoke would erupt from the user that would cover a significantly large area.

Roswal told us " you need only prepare a vessel that has high affinity with the soul" So in my understanding he transfers his soul to his child at the certain age. I think it passed over the head because you usually react strongly then its about children.

So previously Subaru was using magic through his own power source- his Od, which he messed up fighting the dogs and went to Felix to heal it but he left early and was told not to put any weight on it until he recovers- that's why he wasn't ALLOWED to use Shamac- doctors orders. By forming a pact with Beako/Beatrice/Betty, she has become his Puck- he can use her magic source without using his own damaged Od because they are both Dark affinity, and she can teach him new spells

I’m so excited for season 3 because they will be able to cover so much detail. This arc is the longest one and they had to squish it down and cut a lot of detail to make it 24 episodes but if we assume that season 3 will only be arc 5 then they will be able to cover it in detail with time to spare! (Hopefully they will use that time to cover the cut scene from the end of this arc if ykyk)

Demon Slayer is only good because of the visuals, Ufotable did wonders. The story is even more simplistic than the average shonen and the characters never really evolve apart from Tanjiro (no developement of side-characters). A very mid manga.

To think they only fought 1 bishop in season 1, 0 in season 2, and it seems in season 3 they'll face 4 of them at the same time... Including the gluttony guy, which hints that maybe Rem will be cured in that season.

Unironically the thing that I'm most excited for in season 3 is to see more Subaru and Beatrice interactions lol. I just love their sibling/father-daughter dynamic so much. Also Betty is clearly best girl in Re:Zero.

Re: the baby talk. Emilia froze herself as a child. Her body kept growing in the ice, but mentally, she's only experienced about 13-14 years total currently. So she never had "The Talk" with Fortuna, and Puck never explained it properly to her. That's why Subaru is mad at Puck- he was doing a bad job of being "her father".

I don't think this season is as short as 25 episodes considering each episode is longer than a traditional anime episode on top of skipping OP/ED often. We basically got an extra 12-13 episodes of content because of it for a total of 38~ episodes.

As an anime only i'm really looking forward to S3! I'm curious about Subaru's progression. By the end of S2 he's making a clear effort to survive and not just die so casually, so he's going to have to get stronger somehow if they're going to face more arch-bishops. Will Subaru start to learn more magic now that he has his contract with Betty? Will he actually keep practicing and get good with his sword? Or is he going to try and improve his leadership skills so he can more effectively lead his weird band of misfits? I'm really hoping that defeating Gluttony's Arch-bishop will bring back Rem too, though knowing Re:Zero even if that does happen it won't be until the end of the season.

Re: your mic test on ep24, it was immediately noticable. The mic used in this current ep (ep25) is much clearer, if you are taking votes, then i would go for this one (ep25)

Just for the clear up some confusion what happened and such gonna try to keep it spoiler free; When subaru said pick me and i will make your days filled with smiles this is the condition of the contract. He is obliged to make betty happy and be her side untill the end of his life. 2nd subaru is using minya think him like julius from season 1 subaru is a spirit knight rightnow. He is providing mana to beatrice wich is convinient since his gate is all broken and he himself cant use magic now he just funnels his mana to beatrice and using her as gate he can use magic like minya, shamac and later on some others. Blue haired girl in the end will take quite a big role. Between the time passed after santuary to final scene she had some moments in light novel aswell.

in that same sense beatrices / subarus shamac work. subaru uses "shamac" basically the weakest version of it. beartiece used " al shamac" on those bunnies

Roswall does something similar to sloths body take over thing that transfers his consciousness to another body, so almost like immortality, which was what the witch of greed experiments in the sanctuary were trying to achieve. also, a few episodes ago when Emilia finished the trial, she looked upon the body and said “isn’t this supposed to be the witch of greed’s graveyard… then who is this”. I’m not sure what that means but they aren’t supposed to look familiar One last thing, think about what Emilia “knows” about a kiss, for reference, Puck was like a father to Emilia so he didn’t FULLY explain how babies were made to innocent lil Emilia, and now go back to the episode where Subaru left and Emilia’s mind was broken, the end of the episode she kissed him as he’s bleeding out… ya, that scene is way more F’ed up that you thought.

Damn...this last episode utterly amd completely killed it for me! Every time I watch this, I'm smiling nonstop and jittery with hype for what comes next!! See...they give us happy endings each season to...well, I'm not sure. a bit late but for your mic quality, the stream mic last episode was significantly worse, although I got use to it by the end. I think your best option is your current camera mic along with the audio panels to reduce the echo. Even just cheap foam acoustic panels would do wonders

Season 3 was announced quite a while a go, but I don't think we will see it this year too:( C'mon season 3:)) Congratz man, now you are up to date with the best 2 isekais (at least I don't think there is a big 3 in isekai world cause none of them come close to those 2, maybe Overlord could be cause it has some high moments (S4) + popularity, but still there is quite a gap between them) .Highly support reacting to op&eds of Re:Zero now :D

Subaru IS using magic. Beatrice functions as a replacement for his broken Mana Gate, and in this fight Beatrice and Subaru both have an abundance of Mana (beatrice due to slowly collecting it for 400 years, Subaru because he naturally has a fairly high amount of mana regeneration and above-average capacity. He is a Spirit-Arts user now, like Julius and Emilia before she broke her contract with Puck. He focuses mana through a spirit (Beatrice) and she helps him to control its flow and lends her knowledge to him through their pact. The only downside to their pact is that Beatrice has HORRIBLE mana consumption, and used Al Shamac in a GIGANTIC area so she ended up blowing through all of her and most of Subaru's mana reserves in this fight.
