There's a """third season""" coming out this year. I fear that it'll be one of those mini-movir ova deals again, but Code Geass' "problem" is that the ending is just that freaking good that it's hard to suitably continue the setting on from there, it's very much possible, but without having some legendary writers writing just to escape the "trap" that ending created for the studio and allow them to actually continue the setting without fans burning down their studio it's certainly a trial. But honestly Code Geass is an outstanding setting, the most realistic and feasible mechs, great character drama, from my PoV the only complaint I have is with the second season and how they handled the battles.

Yeah it was 2 seasons with 26 episodes each if I remember correctly. But the story is still connected and it doesnt start something enterily new. It is also wrapped up at the end. There is also a movie that "continues" the story. But I for myself think that it wasnt a smart idea to make a sequal movie after like 10 years or more. I recommend to just end if after the last episode and dont watch the movie.

what most people refer to as "code geass" are 2 seasons of 25 episodes each called "Lelouch of the Rebellion" and "Lelouch of the Rebellion R2". The first season end with quite a few loose threads, as the story was intended to be told over 50 episodes from the very beginning The great ending is referring to the overall ending at the end of the second season wraps everything up VERY nicely. So nicely in fact that when they announced a sequel movie 10 years later, the had to also announce a series of recap movies with slightly altered events near the end which would then be followed up with the new Movie. They did this for 2 main reasons: 1: the original ending wich is regarded as one of the best endings in anime can remain as is because the sequel follows an "alternate timeline" 2: to retconn some events that would make it impossible for some characters they wanted to use in the movie to appear in the movie. btw you should look up that sequel movie until you've finished the series, even the name alone contains a HUGE spoiler

Lelouch pretty much said in his speech why he killed Clovis: Clovis was using his power to hurt innocent people. Lelouch will only hurt those who hurt others for no reason. One reason he's going after the Emperor is because the Emperor hurt Nunnally by not helping her. If the Emperor had just taken care of his daughter, chances are this entire series might not be happening.

I mean, for me the reaction is really about getting to hear you thoughts, but they can come after the end. But fecal expressions also speak for themselves and sometime no reaction is speaking for itself. But reading minds is not my strong side so its okay to remember to put some words on your thoughts. He actually told you right now in his speech jus now why he killed his brother but not this sister. His brother did watch over innocent people die just to cover up the "fake gas" explosion Dose it wrap up? I honestly could not answer that even if you used gears on me, You just need to watch it. code geas is is next to ATOT and Death Node fore sure in my book On the gears stuff, I dont think its zombie, just "I really need to do this thing" followed by "hu... weird, completely forgot why i walked in this room" But either way it must be really fucked up and ruin people life if you give them some command that they have to do every day. Hope he told the girl only to do it to a wall and to stop when the wall was full. else she will end up not able to go anywhere, as she has to rush back to the wall each day for reason she wont even understand herself. if we get continuation is just milking the original material (e.g Boruto). No reason to watch '3rd season' or if watched should be considered a new show and not continuation to not tarnish the reputation of this series.

This "third season" is based on the recap movies that altered the show and allowed them to make the last movie somewhat possible. This means that it will not be cannon in the original series. it will likely be continuation from the latest movie or just re-branch from the recap movies before the movie to basically another timeline.

To answer your question, they put a flashback at the start of certain episodes to set the tone for the episode and to remind you of the stakes. Other shows may do it to stretch their limited source material, but this show is not like that. This one has an excess of source material and a shortage of runtime, which is also why the pacing is so insane.

I'm not a native English speaker at all, but the English dub is very suitable for Code Geass. Luke just forgot to vote because he was moving, and he's already watched a few anime in the dub.

You will absolutely hate the end of season 1 and rejoice endlessly that there is a season 2. Season 1 leaves most everything unfinished. Season 2 wraps everything up beautifully.

lelouch and his sister are roughly 87th in line for the throne iirc, this anime is 2 seasons, and it wraps up nicely at the end of season 2, the first season is a massive blueballs cliffhanger.

*spoilers* Even then it still requires a LOT to break away from that ending successfully to continue on the setting. Because you have to successfully break fans away from Lelouch without making a absolute Lelouch clone, you them also need to break away from most of the OG cast as well though cloned characters will be more acceptable. And you need to show good reasonable reasons as to why Lelouch's plan had failed (IG he used his Geass on the collective Unconscious with very vague wording thus undermining his own utopian goal)

Remember at the time, most of the protagonist of any robot anime is a warrior. Protagonist as a rebellion's leader is almost doesn't exist. This Anime is so unique at the time which protagonist is not a fighter, but a leader.

I wouldnt say it ruins it, because its an alternate ending technically. The 50 episodes is the full story, but the movie is basically another way that it could have ended so its another full story.

Ok if that's the case. I haven't seen it yet but everyone when it was announced/came out says it undoes everything the original ending did. So I thought it was a Canon movie that takes place AFTER the series ending. If it's just an Alternate ending (similar to Evangelion episodes 25+26 and End of Evangelion) then thats fine and MUCH better

I love that you're enjoying this, considering it's an "old anime" according to some people (16 years isn't that old to me), some people only like anime from best 5 years. But even after 16 years the animation is still beautiful. Despite not being a full mecha anime, this is probably my favorite mecha anime, and in my top 10 animes of all time.

Be careful, you need to watch ALL the movies, because they retconed very CRITICAL and important things from the main story just to make the last film even possible (without spoiling anything, there's at least one major character death that gets erased from history). And YES, it undoes A LOT of things from the original ending. I'll let you decide if you like it or not, that's for everybody to decide on their own terms, but the fan-pandering is very heavy (a lot of characters get a bit more flanderized in the new retelling)
