Enjoy!!

Roxy’s Holy Relic

You should react to the OP’s for “Chained Soldier” and “Gushing over Magical Girls.” Both anime’s just released this week, both will be peak…It was also announced that LiSA will be doing the OP for “The Irregular at Magic High” season 3 but I don’t think it’s dropped yet

Orieng

You should really try The God of High School Opening :)

Oliver Yan

I'd recommend you to check out the official anime version of the song "anytime anywhere" after you watch episode 14. I cried, hope you won't :) Here is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv5R6C3hz54

Nice. I was expecting boring Thursday but this came as a pleasant surprise. That too a double reaction. Thanks.

Burezu

That backstory for Stark had me crying evertime I saw it man

ShadowNeo

I'm glad I was not the only one crying at the Stark scene. 💚

Some0neElse

Thursday sounds good on paper but i think Frieren is releasing on Fridays so it might be schedule issue when you catch up. Also as much as im eager to start Solo Leveling im more excited for the new season of Tsukimichi. Boy that winter season is gonna be lit between Solo Leveling, Tsukimichi, Mashle and Blue Exorcist

HappyDoodads

"Fuck off, Millet!" as you're on the verge of tears is such a mood, it do be like that sometimes.

Nathan

Stark’s scene is one of the few anime scenes that made me cry. And yet I saw a lot of sad anime but THIS scene... this scene got me. There's someting special with the Frieren anime man, loved your reaction 💚

Marcio Neves

Catching up? Two by one? 😁

Orieng

Lukes reaction to the small sickle and Stuat Little comment, made me spit out the water in my mouth xD haha

Marcio Neves

7:28 are you SURE you are watching this first hand? How can you always be on the spot 🤣

Pega

When you are caught up on Frieren it's time for Apothecary Diaries, or you'll miss the other great show from the fall season, maybe of last year. ;-)

Ante

It's never said outright what grows your mana best but from the flashbacks and fern's initial training it's evident that meditation along with practicing it's usage is what seems to be the best method for strengthening it, while suppressing it is just an extra chore that doesn't grow it's strength but only adds something more to constantly have to pay attention to subconsciously. That's also the reason why Aura reacted in confusion in ep 10 as to why Frieren would do such a largely unproductive and tedious thing for her entire life.

Rnn

Their own kind most likely refer to her personality\trait more than race.

Eliana

45:50 How come you don't get that scene? It's crazy how my heart races wherever I see it. Frieren is just too endearing

Guido Muñoz

Two episodes, lets go! 💚

FullHeart

I love episode 12 because it recontextualizes Stark. He doesn't run because he's a coward. He runs because he is loved. The only person who ever loved him and respected him told him to run and to live. When he runs he is just doing what his brother told him. When he fights and he doesn't run he's putting other people before even the love of his brother and himself. He is a good hero.

Robert F

Always great to see more Frieren reactions! I think Stark did want to try pulling the sword. It alludes to why he didn't in the second half of that episode when it shows a flash of the sword alongside his flashback. He doesn't feel like he's worthy of such a title or role (yet). Would love to see him return to it later.

Neidhardt

Very excited for the next few episodes! 1

Thomas Juino

The kind here is the genius kind XD

Ryan H

1💚 thanks for the double drop

Blackcat menace

here it would be super cool if you did a reaction to all of the link click endings as they are by the same people who made the openings and deserve a video aswell. There is also technically three endings as they used a different song for the final episode and also deserves being checked out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86IgTxnkx1o

The entire point of the heroes sword is to acknowledge that Himmel was a hero even when fate told him he couldn't be. That sword could possibly never be pulled from anyone but the people who have the courage and push through instead of relying on a "sword" are the people that can stand up to the demon king and become a true hero. Either way it goes it was only to show the character of Himmel and further push that he was an actual hero. The moments we get with Himmel in literal flashbacks and how amazing he is on the minimal amount of screen time that he gets just proves that he is without a doubt my favorite character of this series. One of my favorite characters of all time. People end up completely going the dumb and basic shonen brain direction and think that stark will somehow be the one to pull the sword and become a "hero" which is completely ridiculous if you have any idea how this show has been at this point. The entire idea behind stark himself reflecting on the hero sword that Himmel never pulled was him comparing himself to Himmel. Himmel is someone stark sees as someone that can defy odds and live up to the name of being a hero. Himmel was willing to defy fate and beat the demon king with a fake sword. Stark unfairly tends to compare himself to Himmel when at the end of the day they are two different people. Although Himmel is a perfect role model to try and live up to it just isn't fair on stark.

L.C.

He is a good warrior. Stark is a warrior. Just like Eisen. People need to stop comparing him to being a hero. A person can be a warrior and do good deeds. That doesn't make him a hero.

L.C.

No he didn't. You are missing the entire point of Himmel not pulling the sword and missing the entire point of how stark feels about himmel. It was literally never about pulling the sword. Stark is NOT a hero. He is a warrior. He does good deeds but he isn't a hero. Stark is reflecting on himself and comparing it to Himmel. Stark sees himmel as a role model as he is seen by a lot of people. He constantly compares himself to who Himmel was and how he acts. How himmel was willing to never truly run away and he defied odds against him when he couldn't pull the "heroes sword". It was never about pulling the sword. Himmel pushed through and did it anyways. Don't worry though it seems like a ton of people just completely missed the point. People with basic shonen jump brains thought he was gonna pull the sword and become the next big hero. That would literally be the dumbest plot line ever. It would ruin the show. Somehow people miss out on the fact that stark is a warrior and not a hero.

L.C.

I thought it was alright. I am a HIMmel fan though. I don't cry unless Himmel has to do with it.

L.C.

I love how 99% of every reactor I have watched for this episode about the sword being pulled has basic shonen jump brain rot and thinks its about someone pulling the sword and becoming overpowered. As if this were some dumb shonen jump series.

rostikowb

When was Solo Leveling elected to replace jjk? I must have missed the vote

L.C.

That cloud had a minimum of double J tiddies. Perfect size to waist ratio. I wish that cloud was real.

Marcio Neves

There's no big goal... so far, at least. The big goal is already done and finished, it has already happened, the Demon Lord was killed. This is what "happens after", wich we basically never see in the stories 😁

Marcio Neves

"Why is she so young?". Looks like the leadership title is passed by family line, from parent to child. And she was the next in line, probably because her due predecessor (mother or father) had already passed away. The girl in the cave with the quartet was her grandmother, in the flashback

Cédric Michaud

2:28 There is two major theories for why Fern acted this way 1. She protective of Frieren (like a mother you said) 2. She doesn't want Stark to have another woman in his arms ^^ (jealousy) Pick the theory you want, it doesn't matter anyway

L.C.

The kiss scene was a joke on how innocent Frieren can be and her master wanting to mess with her. The whole blowing a kiss scene would not be seductive to normal people. The difference is that Fern and Stark are technically innocent and sheltered by always being with frieren or heiter or eisen. They see that and its so lovey dovey and romantic. Frieren thinks it is seductive because it worked on Himmel. The reason it actually worked on himmel was because himmel was in love with Frieren so anything she did like that would be super romantic to him since he loved her. Above all its basically a joke on Frieren being over a thousand years old but using a tactic like blowing a kiss.

Marcio Neves

34:20 for us who have watched every episode without skipping the opening, we FOR SURE got "spoiled" that he would join the group in the end, because he is there with them 😁

L.C.

Also its Heiter. Not Hikel? Or whatever you call him. lol Heiter is the name of the original party priest. Sometimes people get it mixed up with Himmel because they both start with H.

Cédric Michaud

The Stark backstory episode always get me. I'm crying again, just like with every reaction video of this episode.

I’m so glad to see you coming back to Frieren! The writing of this story is just so phenomenal and profoundly moving. Through only short flashbacks, we not only get to learn so much about the individual characters and their motivations in a very short amount of time, but we also get to witness such incredible character development and learn amazing life lessons. Absolutely loving this show so far and I’m glad to see everyone else here seems to be as well! P.S. I have seen someone else point this out before, but I just love the little detail that despite all the legends and stories that get passed on about the “legendary” band of heroes that defeated the Demon Lord, we get to see in this episode that the world was, in fact, saved by a “Fake” Hero, a “Corrupt” Priest, a “Cowardly” Warrior, and a “Blasphemous” Mage.

Anonymous

Also, I’m not sure if someone else has pointed this out before, but the names of the main characters in this show are all German words which are quite symbolic in their own right: • “Himmel” means “heaven” • “Heiter” means both “cheerful” and “serene” • “Eisen” means “iron” or “to be made of iron” • & “Frieren” means “to be/feel cold”

BornOfOsiris

Such a treat getting 2 episodes in one. Thank you luke!

BornOfOsiris

Except Luke has barely any Shonen jump experience. Certainly none of the og Shonen shows like bleach and naruto

BornOfOsiris

The village chief's VA also plays Roxy in Mushoku Tensei. Thats most likely where you recognize her from

Exter

Frieren's Gremlin expressions really are the best. Also you do indeed remember most of the names but "Heikel" is actually called "Heiter" with a "t" which means "cheerful" in German.

Anonymous

I think she’s also specifically referring to “geniuses” as her own kind. I believe that she realized and called Sein a “genius” and then reflected on how she doesn’t really know how to interact or give advice to people like herself.

BRUNO Marques

If you want to have an idea of why the sword was not pulled : Magic is a bit more complicated (and also super simple) than currently portrayed. The demon problem was always about perspective, the world was never in danger, so the sword stayed put. The "main" story is still happening.

Arcade'owy Łowca

This church is a strong believer of the balls bath xD

Lex

In an RPG world game or anime, hero, warriors, monk are character classes, stark can't pull the sword cuz he's not a hero class, just like you can't put a wand on a warrior class in game, Frieren is a traditional RPG based anime.

Sharif Alvi

Looking forward to the next reactions! 1

Kosumi

I really love that they animated Stark's lip quivering when he answers Freiren about the taste. The man didn't cry, but he's barely holding it together and that simple animation fit the scene so much better than if they did have him cry

Daniel Golas

ok hear me out, what if frieren is not about when you just doing side quests. What if it is the NG+, definitely feels like NG+ to me

L.C.

I'm not simply speaking on him. I am speaking on the general audience of reactors that mess with anime. They majority have the shonen brain rot and think things along the lines of typical shonen. This guy has seen enough anime stuff and shonen stuff to understand how it all works. Saying he hasn't seen the OG stuff isn't any different. JJK is the same type of shonen repetitive braindead writing as the past original series.

Abe J

The subtle writing on that first episode is so freakn good! Also, "im so confused" x50 ... stop, your just trolling

Misteryk

And chika from kaguya sama and Mona from genshin in JP dub

Eivind Skåra

I love the pride about remembering the original partys names, meanwhile Heiter is crying in a corner being called Heikel.

Bobby Vang

Well Luke, Are you alright? Can you hear me? 💚

Rimmar

Nice, two episodes! 💚

axilir21

It's crazy how fast this anime makes you cry then makes you laugh 10 seconds later

Marcio Neves

Better than being called "Hitler", as I've seen one reactor do, recently 😅

Arcade'owy Łowca

I've just got an idea. Himmel couldn't take out the sword, because altough Himmel took down the Demon King, sword was created long before. Thus the original story says "only the hero that drive off the great calamity bent on destroying this world, can pull out this sword". So, originally it was meant for Himmel, but due to the wording used in the spell, it was shifted to another person. And that person is... Frieren.

Aliziel

no wonder you recognize the voice.. its Mei from Hell's Paradise, Chika, and Roxy..

Aliziel

so Luke is not there yet.. 😏

Bård Fredrikson

It isn't quite accurate, because while they do look like side-quests, all of the things Frieren does has some tie to what happened 50 years ago, while side-quests are usually things not tied up by the time the main quest rolls over. Sure, Qual and Aura are both like side-bosses you could argue should have been defeated by Frieren earlier, fact is that most of the other things are things that happened naturally after Himmel died.

Lareolan

Nah, this really does feel like a Final Fantasy game, they beat the main story, now they're going around hunting random monsters, taking down side bosses, and so on.

axilir21

There were other demon kings before the one Himmel's party killed, the great calamity likely hasn't happened yet

Bård Fredrikson

I dunno what Final Fantasy games you've played, but it doesn't really remind me of any of FF1-FF9.

Stefan

Man that ending of ep 12... Can't believe he can have something that good without being a long anime or some detective shit. Pick up that sword man! Be careful of snakes, man a priest with those qualities must be a high priest!

Cyrill Attakpah

"yo pride, you are the pride of the village" xD gets me everytime

Funny thing: In german version they going to "paradise" not "heaven" - "heaven" is translated "Himmel" and would be confusing with the character Himmel.

Jan Negrey

About this that you never know what kind of episode you're gonna get - I call it "Random Frieren Generator". I legitimately called it that way in one of the conversations I had and for some reason it stuck in my mind.
