5:10 OH, but little did you know that Class:y IS a KPOP girls group. They just happened to sing some song in japanese, and that one being used for tha opening for Undead Girl Murder Farce. Also, the music is very good, worth reacting either to the opening or to their dance/lyrics video 😁

So many good openings from 2023. Now, I want to watch about half of the them from this list lol 😆. My personal top three? “Idol” - Yoasobi “Kizuna no Kiseki” (Demon Slayer) - Milet x MWAM “Escalate” (NieR Automata) - Aimer Happy Holidays.

I was waiting for trash JJK to be forced into the top spots because of its mainstream viewership. You are my special opening is cringe and dogshit. The other one is decent at best. Leave it to the JJK fans to be biased and have terrible taste. Literally not surprised it was forced into the top spots. Another shonen to put on my shit list because normies are annoying af.

Disappointing biased list once again. Really just not surprised anymore. Its been that way for a few years now. The better shows get overlooked due to the dick riders for the mainstream shonen shows that are average at best.

Dont listen to people saying to you to not watch My Hero Academia. Watch it. It's very good, even though some people are disappointed with the current events, this is one of the best animes out there, which will surely give you a lot of emotions

as soon as i realized that the people voted ao no sumika over specialz i immediatly started celebrating, and no i do not hate specialz its incredible i just think that ao no sumika and idol are both better, i can understand if you put specialz above them aswell, but it made me happy to see that im not alone.

Honestly can't wait for 2023 to be over so we can stop with all the "best anime openings of 2023" videos. Though soon there's going to be another two dozen "best anime openings of 2024" videos.

Yeah yeah, decent vocals, yet underdog shows such as “ Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts” opening 1 to be exact is not on the list. Why am I not surprised? But again, perhaps copyright is tough around it. And no, I spear, it was not the anime I cried the most over in 2023 ;_;

The problem is that 1) There's not so many good anime OPs in a year that it requires a dozen different videos to see them all, and 2) They're called "best of 2023" even when it's only part way through the year. If it was "Best of Spring 2023, best of Summer 2023, etc. it would be fine. Realistically there should only need to be 5 videos, one for each season and then one for the year.

The opening is not bad (I just listened to it), but anime is not popular at all, people will not vote for something they have never heard or seen. And in my opinion, the opening is not good enough to go viral, but it could potentially get into the top 30-40+

For me, this top is better than the previous one, but not by much. jjk should objectively be in the top 15-30. But it's the most popular anime of the year. Of course, it would be better if everyone had to listen to ALL the openings before voting and not vote only for those they listened to, but this is not possible.

My personal favorites for this year are : - Apothecary Diaries - Otaku Elf - Heavenly Delusions - Tonikawa S2 (soo good bro) - Ancient Magus Bride S2 part 2 (Paradox and Goblin Slayer S2 very close to make it in my top 5)

Im quite sad my favorite song this year only made 40, OP from My Happy Marriage. It’s not aimed at the majority demographic of anime fans so I can understand but please give the song a try if not the anime…. I have full version of it and Idol on my list and that song has about 3 times more repeats than Idol….

As I expected, it’s purely a popularity contest. The best opening song this year was at number 35. At least to me. That song is so unbelievably soothing and chill, it’s been almost a year since it released and it’s still not gotten old. Unlike songs like idol that got old on me after about a week or a month, or the demon slayer op.

17:51 I got to disagree. If the opening doesn't give a powerful emotion every time I rewatch it, it doesn't deserve top 1 or even top 10 anime opening music of all time. If it doesn't give me a powerul emotion, the visuals of the opening needs to be the best opening visuals I've ever seen with maybe a lot of hidden meanings behind to make the opening in the top 10 of all time.

JJK season 2 part 1 opening has the better song, but part 2 has the better visuals in my opinion. But I would have voted for part 1 because the song has a greater effect on my appreciation of the opening.

My top 3: 1. #40 My Happy Marriage 2. #29 1/3 Dr Stone: New World part 2 3. #2 JJK season 2 part 1 Special mentions for : Frieren, Mushoku Tensei, #29 3/3 My Love Story with Yamada-kun..., Undead Unluck, #14 Apothecary Diaries, Heavenly Delusion, Zom100, Vinland Saga S2 Op2, Link Click and Oshi no Ko. Number 1, 2, 3 and special mentions are all S tier for sure, for the rest I'm not sure if they are S(peak), A, B, C(mid), D, E or F(trash) but almost all of the one in the videos are C or higher.

Some of these being ranked lower makes sense just because even if the OP deserves to be higher, the anime that it's tied to just wasn't as popular so not as many people have seen it.

It's disappointing how these lists always end up being a popularity contest for the shows, with JJK being the worst offender. Don't get me wrong, the openings are good and I can totally see them being top 30 to 10 based on the ops alone, but top 2 and 3? Absolutely no way. If Idol wasn't as popular as it is the JJK ops would have absolutely stolen the top 2 spots, simply due how mainstream JJK is.

Yeah i also wouldnt call it one of the bests, but the earlier seasons are really the best example of classic shounen. Though it really really falls of later, i would rather recommend Black Clover which is the opposite and gets better the longer the show goes. But i guess MHA is just more popular.

I would have put Otaku Elf much farther down the list, that song is such a bop. Hana ni Natte from Apothecary Diaries is my obsession right now, so I'm glad it was as high as it was. I would have liked Dangers in My Heart higher, just because it's Yorushika... they're up there with Minami and Ado for my most listened to singers

The problem with fan voted rankings is that most people will never see all the openings in the year + they will pick good series over good openings.

CLASS;y is a K-Pop group who are really quite good. I don't know if the opening they did was sung in Japanese or not, but the fact they did an OP at all fell under my radar. Shame on me. But, yes, you should really check them out.

That definitely seems to be the case! I wonder, though, what would be a good rubric for ranking objectively good openings? I have wasted too much time in the shower thinking about rubrics for anime shows (sales numbers, industry influence, longevity, recency bias), and one day I will try to make an objective top 10. But openings are probably even harder! What do you think should go into consideration to counter biases?

I like how you say, "I know it isn't K-pop...but" with Crack Crack Crackle (the Undead Girl Murder Farce OP) but CLASS:y, the group that sings that song, IS a Korean K-pop girl band. It just so happens they can also sing in Japanese, but you definitely feel the K-pop in their Japanese songs, too.
