Kana died in order to torment the Main Character more. That was her purpose in the story.

My favorite character is dead 😢 By the way, the reason she forgot her phone and Shinichi couldn’t contact her seems dumb but it was the only way the studio could do be authentic? To the manga. The manga is old and the only way to communicate was the big dial phones that you can find in grandma’s house. So once you leave, you have no way to contact the other person. Man, It pissed me off too when I saw Kana die just out of the blue the first time. It was too random...

You gotta keep in mind that it was a super short one-shot manga that had a total of only 64 chapters. So, the character wasn't meant to hold any larger arc in the story since the character's one purpose was just to be an emotional stepping stone for our MC.

I felt like you the first time I saw this episode. Kana's death just made me angry. In fact, I think this might be the episode that made me bail and not watch the rest of the series.

The worst place to have a parasite is definitely the head... Second worst is probably having it stop by the heart, lungs or intestines. The places where it morphing would mess up your body or kill you.

Yeah, Kana's death was obvious, what wasn't obvious was that they then went through with the funeral and her effects on the people around her. So the author managed to tell us all that she would die and then make it sad anyway.

I feel like Luke's watching a lot of sad shows right now. He should really break this up with some great feel good shows. Something like Hajime no Ippo would be sick. Started that myself recently. I now wanna be a boxer lol, I may be easily influenced lol. And I think that kinda show would be up his alley, that retro animation style too

True, gotta start with the originals. Unfortunately it's extremely convoluted and it sounds like Luke is already thinking about watching Monogatari, which is even more convoluted than Higurashi. It's easy to get burnt out by either of them, let alone both at the same time.

Is there a more obvious death in anime?(at least in a decent one). Unfortunately, it was a well deserved death, you couldn't ask more. And yeah, I agree that the scene from the ending it was way sadder.

To be frank, Kana was basically having a female version of a wet dream. Combined with a vision of the future. No matter how many times I see it, I'm always pissed and always team Kana. She deserved so much better. Idk if Japan disagrees, but Satomi is annoying. She's always refused to acknowledge Shinichis dark side, meanwhile Kana embraces it. You can do both while acknowledging that someone is still a good person. Rip best girl. -

Technically she doesn`t do that forever. I think is because Kana 1 didn`t have previous relationship with the fully non involved with parasites' Shinichi + her senses are way more accurate then Satomi and she saw more violence as girl in gang. Kana could adapt easier to seeing Shinichi do all this things because she didn`t have so much reference to him prior the hole story and she didn`t bat an eye about violence at least on school gang level

Gou and Sotsu are more like season 4 and 5. If he reacts to Higurashi he should definitely start with the old Deen anime.

People always talk about this episode being the saddest part of the show but Kana was an idiot and got herself killed, his mom’s death was WAY more depressing/impactful

The sadness is not about the death as long as it's a quick kinda peaceful way with no regrets. The sad part are the after effects from the death of said character, Shinichi just questioning his humanity over and over again. I truly believe that the perfect replacement for this anime is Inuyashiki as it kinda follows a similar topic but following 2 main characters instead.

yeah.. and not believed anything he said (despite of the rumors) literally lying to him and herself about sensing him (when literally she mistaked him for someone else just the day before) and toatally ignoring his warnings lol.. imo to me she was the dumbest of all characters..

Always love a comments section filled with "omg she's so dumb" as if the commenter was never a teenager and has always been the pinnacle of logic and reason capable of making only the best choices since birth. She's a kid who got in way too deep into something that is literally unthinkable to most people.

3 questions, why would the parasytes follow him to her house? Cause I can't think of a single reason, secondly even if they did why would it matter? They basically have no reason to attack her even if they knew where she lived (unless they feel her signal but in that case they were gonna attack her regardless of whether izumi goes to her house or not) and thirdly let's just say she's already a target, they wouldn't need to rely on izumi just to find her so I fail to see the downside, especially when migi can simply just sense if they are being followed and tell izumi to not go to her house

Not gonna lie, i like how its such an obvious death that it makes us feel less sad for her. Its almost like we're losing emotions the same as Shinichi.
