The ending of this episode is one of my favorite scenes in ReZero. The catharsis of 1.5 seasons of pain finally being able to be released. Echidna is a witch so call her a good person, bad person, whatever you want - in this moment she was the *right* person for Subaru and he needed her.

So glad you liked the episode this much. When I first see it I cried like a baby so I suspect you would shed a tear or two 😂 How can't you? Everything is so damn emotional, from the music, to the title at the end "the value of life", and seeing Subaru finally get to say that to someone after all that happened... I believe if you have sympathized with him even just a bit is impossible to remain unaffected. Anyway, this is my 2nd favorite episode of season 2... hope you're ready for what's about to come

Our boy can't catch a break. It's amazing how he manages to pull through against all the op monsters that all try to kill him at the same time. Like the neck cracking sloth and the beluga Whale last season. Now we got crazy intestine lady and freaking lion king over here + potentially others? Could the reason enchilada is not being affected be because she is already dead or is that space (safe)? Is it in his head, a different dimension or some kind of enclosed space? What really is the witches graveyard? Are there multiple? If the souls of the witches are in this place, then can you say they are really dead? Can they still be resurrected?

The list you talk about was a list specifically from a site called "Anime-Planet" Re:zero is both higher rated and more popular on other sites, and I think if you ask people what the best isekai is, it will usually be between Re:zero and Mushoku. MAL: #2 popularity, only behind NGNL #3 (highest rated entry) on score tied with the konosuba movie, only behind Mushoku s1 second half and the currently airing Eminence in shadow s2 Anilist: #2 on popularity, only behind SAO, which technically isn't an isekai #3 (highest rated entry) on score, only behind Mushoku s1 second half and... Spirited away? I wouldn't count that as an isekai tbh IMDb: #1 on highest number of ratings (this is closest to to how MAL and Anilist calculate "popularity") #2 (whole series) on rating, kinda tied with the slime isekai though it's only single decimal unlike on MAL and anilist, and only behind Mushoku

We’re not even halfway through the season but so many more emotional moments are coming up I’m stoked for you to see them

I think you decribed the last scene perfectly. It's a release of all the pent up emotions that Subaru had since basically episode 1. I don't even want to imagine how he must have felt like. There are so many people that he has made connections with but despite all that he was still completely alone without anyone to console him or simply listen to his troubles. Now after so much time Subaru finally found a person who he can tell to that he was returning by death over and over again. This scene also absolutely melted my heart. It's on same same emotional level for me as Rem's confession/Subaru's breakdown or the episode with Subaru's parents and some scenes later in season 2. Also we finally got happy fluffy bunny time <3

this episode doesnt dull the punch it deals even after rewatching it a dozen times. this episode and episode 4 make it my favorite season (a couple after this are just as amazing) and i'm so glad that i've atleast recovered from the bunny ptsd i had after this episode released 3 years ago. teenager me was not ready. that isekai ranking list was very clearly not a good one, i'd be surprised if it wasnt one person who put that together on a saturday evening to get some easy clicks. you havent really seen any of the bad isekai which is the sad thing about being a reaction channel, you're only told to watch the best or the most enjoyable and thus dont see the bad parts of the medium, only hear about it. i found out very early on that seeing the bad anime is a very important part of watching anime, ever since i saw rising of a shield hero i knew exactly how awful an isekai could be despite being a beloved series

I haven't seen anyone mention this trivia yet so here we go! 1. The inspiration for the bunny scene were the velociraptors from Jurassic Park. 2. The VA not only cried, but bawled in that last scene. There's actually an interview of him right after that take and he was feeling embarrassed and felt he probably smelled weird from crying so much in the booth. (the interview should still be in Kadokawas YT channel but jp only)

I can tell you why Re:Zero is not as highly rated, #7 on the list you saw, as it could be. There are three main reasons. One is because there is a good percentage of people who quit the series after the break down at the capital where Subaru makes an ass of himself to Emilia. A lot of people are not very forgiving of Subaru. I would almost say, more people in the anime hate Subaru than Rudy. Among the things I've seen people say about him. "He is an incel who is forgiven and gets a harem for being an ass." "He is a simp who lets the girls do the worst to him, like that bitch Rem torturing him to death, and always crawls back to them like a pathetic dog." "He is a complete idiot who can't take anything seriously and is always doing the most idiotic things possible until he get his final run where he does everything perfectly and competently out of nowhere." Yeah, most of this stuff is from people who quit the show at obvious spots and it is funny to me how so many complaints I read are completely contradictory. But they don't give the show the chance to show how all these statements are off the mark, as few will give the show another chance. Two is the torture Subaru goes through. It is just too much for some people and the payoffs are not worth the price. On the same token, Subaru being able to Return by Death is too much of a cheat. Even with the torture he goes through, Subaru seems like he will always win. Three is Emilia. There are many who hate her. Rem, in season one, is more interesting, more dynamic, more interesting, more loveable and just overall a better wifu. "I love Emelia" is a cursed meme and when Rem was forgotten at the start of season 2 it was too much, "They are going to force Emilia down our throats." I'm kinda surprised how many people quit at Ep 2 of Season 2 because they refuse to accept Emilia in any way. Because of the above, there are enough people who miss out that the show slips down the chart to "ONLY" be #7 or similar rank. Being in the top ten impresses me based on all the hate I see the show get online.

The catharsis when he can tell her about the Return by Death is so overwhelming. Finally being able to offload that burden he's been carrying alone from the start. I did think that Subaru's farewell to his parents would hit you harder than it did to be honest, but I knew this scene would definitely hit deep.

For openings and endings, I personally would much prefer if you just reacted to them as they came. That way you don't run into something like this episode where you think there was a new opening when it's been the same one as the past 8 episode (though, this being Re:Zero they only played it a few times). Maybe run a poll on it to see how people would feel about that or something. Not saying watch them every single time it plays, but I think it's more impactful for a watching experience to see them when they finally show up.

The ending of this episode is my second favourite moment in the entire anime (excluding web novel stuff that happens later). It's so gosh darn cathartic for him to finally be able to burst and tell someone of the absolute loneliness that comes with his RBD ability. My favourite moment is yet to come though, season 2 is really packed with awesome writing!

Wow finally Luke got broken by this show. My favorite episode is the last part, for most people it's the bunnies. For myself I love the psychological aspects of this show with all the fantasy mystery that a normal person like Subaru has to deal with.

Subaru never, even in the lns, ever gets over being a wuss. He just continues to have breakdowns, while we wait for him to get his act together and advance the story. It's extremely frustrating because it keeps happening. He is the least interesting part of the world by a long shot. Ironicaly, when he gets his head sorted in the parallel side stories he actually becomes interesting. But that never actually happens in the mainstory, he is always pathetic.

He's a grown up and can take a suggestion, which is all this was (hence why I said he may want to do a poll on this, to see how most people prefer it). Plus, I never said I didn't enjoy the reactions, otherwise wouldn't be watching it here on patreon. And obviously the Re:Zero OPs and EDs have some spoilers in it, which is why they don't really air them until the relevant parts are done with (i.e. second cour of this season). Spoilers aren't spoilers if you don't have any context behind them, and the studio put them in there for a reason. It's just personal preference, not a huge deal.

among these complaints the only one I personally am somewhat sympathetic to is that it takes us too long to get some character development from Emilia. I do think we needed a couple more character development moments from her in the cannon timeline of season 1 but its not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. I also understand the violence and despair being too much for some people but this show hardened me too it eventually

shinji and Sakura are in different universes than Subaru on the love front. Emilia lacks the maturity to be a proper girlfriend right now but she is returning Subaru's affections with care. That's entirely healthy and reasonable. Sasuke never expresses the slightest interest in Sakura by contrast, and Shinji never shows any real redeeming character development while Subaru absolutely does.

@hatoma, your reply doesn't really make sense. Mushoku tensei and re:zero are pretty much viewed as top two isekai, saying one is 1st and the other is 2nd best doesn't "change" that much. One thing that I can tell you 'a difference' that you are not aware is that Mushoku tensei in season 2 there is technically an arc where there is no action at all, for 8 episodes you watch Main character develop and it was a slow burner, the show went from INSANITY action to a romance school where nothing is going on. Not once during that arc luke said he hopes this doesn't drag on for more than 4-5 eps and then hope he sees action. When I compare that to "re:zero" when where he was in the trial and he specifically said that he wish this is over as quick as possible and not throw 3-4 ep of him at school. Basically when you get from "crazy action -> non crazy action". In re:zero he said he'd rather not have "non crazy action" but in mushoku he was ok. I extrapolated from that interactions that he enjoy the 'direction' of mushoku tensei story no matter what the show throw in his face. While in Re:zero he'd rather see certain things he's interested. So if you have "strict" rules of what a show should throw at you for you to enjoy that show but on another show you don't have any rule, that can only imply which one you tend to enjoy more. The overall argument of what he enjoy better, would imply for you to actually watch the whole reaction with him, then after you watched mushoku, come back here and say: "I watched mushoku and I still think he enjoy re:zero more". Then your argument will have actually weight and be based instead.

The Bunny episode was horrific. Glad the anime spared us of what happened in ligtht novel. Had the is scene been adapted in the 1980s which was the same era as violence Jack, the bunny scene would be 10 times more horrific.
