I hope that the sub or dub poll is still planned. I love both sub and dub so I´ll continue watching either way (although I do like the dub more for this anime), but I am really curious about what the results of this poll would be.

You basically got the map right. Depending on which country you live in, the world map may be shown from basically a different "center point". Most maps you will find in Europe will have roughly the center of the Eurasian continent in the center, and america (continent) on the left. But american maps often have North/South america in the center, with Russia on the left and Europe on the right. from what i could find with a quick search, Russia seems to use the same map layout as Europe (America in the west, Eurasia on the east) on todays standards, the majority of maps will have the "european" layout. Not for Europe specifically, but due to how the coordinates on the globe are structured. The prime meridian (0° east/west) goes straight through London (or to be precise: it passes exactly through the Royal Observatory, Greenwich in southeast london), and as such, London becomes the center-point of the maps, putting the american continent to the left, and the Eurasian continent on the right by definition.

If you first watched it dubbed is going to be better for you. English is not y first language so for me Japanese would always be better than English. But I agree that some dubs are really good. In fmab reaction I missed Romi Park 😭

The one significant misunderstanding Luke is having here as that he is thinking of Clovis as "the king" when really he is just a prince put in charge of one recently conquered region of the empire.

Wow really? Steins gate is by far my favourite dub and also voice acting performance in all of anime. I don’t like many subs but okabes voice is so amazing and the comedy is perfect.

I don't think that the history of Britannia was ever really explained in the anime so this isn't a spoiler. As far as I know the US lost the revolutionary war so it remained British. However Napoleon succeeded in conquering all of Europe including the British Isles which is why the British roylty fled to their colonies in America. Then they reestablished themselves there as the Holy Britannian Empire and the Americas became their new seat of power. The capital of Britannia is also if I remember correctly neither London nor Washington (for reasons mentioned above) but a city in the middle of America called "Pendragon".

I watched Code Geass dubbed since I started watching it, but I have to say the Japanese actors are quite excellent. Do I wish the English-speaking characters actually spoke English? Sure, but it's no longer weird that they aren't for me. I have definitely become a subbed-over-dubbed person.

This is just the beginning. Remember Lelouch said he was 17th in line for the throne, and Clovis is just one of his siblings. And Clovis mentioned that he now owes a debt to his older brother….. I would say don’t expect to run through all the royal heirs but we will be seeing more to come. But I think Luke is about to suffer a tone shift come next episode.

This show has one of the best endings in all of anime. It is also an anime original, meaning it isn't based off of a manga or light novel. I don't know who is saying it may not live up to its reputation, it isn't that old; just 12 or so years. I will say to expect large tone shifts occasionally and there are some spots in season 1 where the pacing slows down a bit. It will be a roller coaster. Like I mentioned before, please be sure to re-watch the episodes if you continue with subbed and feel too lost.

Clovis is the 3rd prince, so likely around 5th in line to be the next emperor. Currently however he's a viceroy to Area 11 (Japan), meaning if he dies, is captured etc. he can be easily replaced by another member of nobility, including the princes/princesses. Clovis is just one of many heads to the hydra of the Brittanian empire, one of the heads as you've just learned being Lelouch himself

There's a lot of English and German in this anime and it really works when you're an English speaker watching it dubbed in English. The Japanese VAs are great but so are the English ones. Just with the added benefit of proper pronunciation of English words and German names.

Because some people have Auditory Process Disorder which makes it harder for them to understand while listening and reading at the same time for example Lett's React (Kenny and Montana) has APD and all their contents are Dub only with one exception to AOT No Regrets but they started the dub version when his wife watches it and their community supports them for watching dub only so I don't really understand why people should avoid dub like a plague when it's there for people like them to enjoy anime instead of being left out just because they have APD or any other problems they could have for not being able to read subtitles, sorry for the rant but just wanted to say what i wanted.

I don't mind dub, but I agree that some parts are greater in Japanese. The dub is great over all, and gives a good feel of the characters.... But Nunnally has a voice I can't quite agree with in the dub.

In this timeline America never gained independence. You do find out more about the state of the world. Going to start getting some answers next few episodes. Code Geass is top tier even all these years later, and the animation is still reasonably good.

Yeap but not everyone is an English speaker, I do but I'm not native. Although I have advance capacity of understanding but I don't complain about it, FMAB was so damn good in English but also because it had subs that help me with some parts to understand better. Anyway I'm still prefer original at all cost

I think that watching show in a language you don´t understand makes no sense when you have other options. As a person who is not a native english speaker, I grew up watching american movies, shows and cartoons dubbed in my language, and I don´t regret a thing. Watching things in language you understand will always feel more natural. Thats why I usually watch anime dubbed as well, unless the dub is noticeably inferior tu the original. That´s most certainly not the case in Code Geass. I have watched it in both languages and personally, I liked the dub a lot more. I mean, you don´t read manga in japanese even thou that´s the original version, do you?

True enough. English wasn't my first learned language either though I learned early and simultaneously with my first. My main point, however, is more for the person reacting to enjoy. He'll get something out of it in the English dub. We can read subtitles even with the dub if he turns it on. Best of both worlds for a good dub performance like this one.

But when u reading, u little miss what going on scenes. this is advance of dub. u can watch whole scene, dont focus on down part of screen, but for me, i more understand english when i read isntead of listening, that one of reason why i prefer sub instead of dub

Watch Man in the High Castle. it's a show where the concept is the aliied forces of WWII lost and the Axis won. There are three major factions the American resistance, the Japanese, and the Nazis. The Nazis are evil but characters have families and make human decisions. I won't go on and on but there are main characters in each main faction and minor characters another faction that gets added in a later season. It sounds like you might enjoy it.

to your comments at 18:04. Lelouch Vi Brittania wants to upend and destroy the current leaders of (almost) the entire world. So in different words, Lelouch wants to upend the very fabric of society. That absolutely cannot happen without a LOT of death. In a way he is a villain, but because Brittania is a conquering force he is more of an anti-hero.

iirc the lore of how britannia took over most of the world that you see on the map is that america lost the revolutionary war, and so remained as british colonies.

I find that the Sub makes less sense for immersive reasons when I rewatch the anime, since it makes more sense for pretty much everyone to be speaking English, given the story. It makes no sense for a country as nationalistic as Brittania is portrayed to conquer Japan, rename it Area 11, but then adopt the use of the japanese language. Like yeah, the rebels might be speaking Japanese with each other, but they could equally also be speaking English (except for, like, the JLF) given the times.
