Russell Gambardella

lmao Luke's face - his mouth hanging open the entire time - when Frieren was killing Draht was great.

Ren-chon

JJK is out already

Ultraporing

Aaand Title drop xD. Yeah "Frieren the Slayer" is the real title of the show ^^

Arcade'owy Łowca

In japan it is a cultural thing to get "loud" with eating voices, when the food is tasty. You may aswell apologise now :3 4:40

Thomas Juino

just you wait for Flamme XD

Shiwa chan

Speaking of anime eating , in China they eat/chew mouth open smacking lips . When I was raised I have ben told that doing that is bad manners. But in China they looked at me and thought I didn't like their food . Cause in their culture its the opposite and a sign that the food is good .

Ryan H

It's a Thanksgiving miracle. Thanks Luke 🙏

Sai Pavan

Yep, this anime has turned all my expectations around and continues to surprise me every episode.

Gabriel Pires

Ah yes, that moment when we all found out that "Sousou no Frieren" meant something else entirely. EPIC.

Plou plus

Frieren lived for centuries so no matter how strong others are she had way more time to kill demons.

Muyo373

remember how it was mentioned Fern is really good at hiding herself as a mage back in ep 2. Also consider that how long Friren has lived, and how powerful she is, Flamme is human, so pretty reasonable she has slew more demon than anyone else.

Roxy’s Holy Relic

Demons call her Sousou no Frieren or “Frieren the Slayer.” What’s amazing about Sousou no Frieren is its way of hiding what is obvious. It’s a hidden pun that means two things in Japanese. For example, 葬送のフリーレン can be translated as "Frieren at the Funeral" (the manga's title) but also can be translated as "Frieren who sends one to their funeral.” As the anime progresses it seems more people are catching onto this

ArtKi

Luke, have you noticed how often episode 8 of an anime is when shit gets crazy?

chengstax

the storytelling is just fantastic

HappyDoodads

Not really? It's more of a "hidden meaning" of the original title, if anything. Calling it the real title would be misleading, since there's really not that much slaying going on most of the time :P

Reennji

I like that there is a few weeks of difference between the airing anime and your reaction. I don't know if others feel the same way, but after watching a newly released episode, I don't feel like watching it again until several days/weeks later. That's why I haven't watched the last 2 reactions of JuJutsu yet.

TheElementalerWars

Next episode(episode 9) is definitely the best one yet, can't wait to see your reaction to it!!!

Kitsune

Finally, anime title drop :D

Quincey Forder

what if Fern turned out to be the Demon King reborn?

FabioSpar

Although there are many ways to translate it, "Sousou no Frieren" is in fact, literally "Frieren the Slayer". The official English title "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is far from accurate. It might or might not represent the anime's plot better, but it's a completely different title when compared to the original japanese title.

Cratto

2 episodes back to back? How blessed are we

teenkikin

Leaving on Youtube comment whatever I want to say about this emisode, I clearly remember now that you refered to this show as like the after-story of Lord of the Rings! Now what will Sam tell his family about his companions:D

Rob

"Sousou no Frieren" is the new "Shingeki no Kyojin". I love this kind of title drop and twist of language in anime, Japanese is such a cool language for this haha

Pakom

Frieren the slayer x Goblin Slayer x Demon Slayer (AKA Doom Guy) friendship?

Marcio Neves

Wow, another one so soon? NICE!

Marcio Neves

Zoltraak USED to be a terrible spell used by the demons, created by Qual... BUT, after Qual got sealed, and the demon king got defeated, the humans studied and improved the magic, far beyond the demons were capable to assume. They were so proud on their own feats that they could not conceive humans learning and improving their own magic

Marcio Neves

The next 2 episodes WILL BE EPIC!!!

Stefanos Georgiou

Freeren is stronger than Flame coz she has lived allot longer

Barry

Lugner acknowledges that humanity studied Zoltraak in this episode though. Hes just calling BS on it being the same spell in any way.

BRUNO Marques

Lugner is young himself. He has no concept of how powerful and warlike some of the other elfs were/are. Ironic since Frieren is a pacifist.

Kager

Mans really pronouncing Flamme as "flame". I understand not getting Japanese names but there's no excuse for this

Ante

Her name means flame in german so he's not wrong technically.

lxForce21xl

*Doom Slayer likes this* :D

Avis Pakaya

I'm also curious why sometimes official EN title is kinda different from official JP title, like you said for example, "Sousou no Frieren" and "Shingeki no Kyojin" are both translated to "Frieren the Slayer" and "the Attack Titan", but the official EN title are "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" and "Attack on Titan"

Robert Franklin

Everything was a buildup for the next two episodes

gurenlogan

UNBLURRED *Yeah*, really.. but not all time..

Mr. Dog

A thing to note is this episode is the actual title of the anime in japanese. Sousou no Frieren is the Japanese title of this anime. In English, Sousou no Frieren means Frieren the Slayer.

Kyle DeForest

Frieren has probably killed the most demons in history because of her long life span tbh. Also, Flamme is human, and humans age. She may not have necessarily died to a stronger enemy.

Kager

Yeah I know, but that's not her name, it's the same as if he called Frieren "Freezing person" for the lack of better English word

Andoryuu

Because translations are hard without context. SnK is literally "titan of attacking", but at the time of the show release the manga haven't revealed the true meaning yet. So the animators are left wondering what does that even mean (there are titans attacking humans, or is it about the human counter attack?). With Frieren, the sousou has two characters. The first means "burial" and the second means both "to see someone off" and "to deliver". The combination is used for "funeral", but in this case demons are using the second meaning of the character. So maybe "Funeral Frieren" would be more accurate?

axilir21

Flamme is flame in French and German so that's probably why And you should know by now Luke and prononciations don't go in the same sentence

Yevaud06

the video feed for the anime is messed up, you can only see the bottom 5th or so. Edit: nvm, it fixed itself.

Stefan

Sukuna gets to live another day. Waiting for ep 10 😄

Phyllis

Flammel is human.

Dethrox

Yeah.. basicaly Zoltraak spell was so strong people made precautions with new defensive magic (so it wont kill anymore, with a shield) and not sure if just Frieren modify it or was it humanity as whole to hurt demons aswell :D Lugner was pretty much right.. it more or less has nothing to do with Zoltraak anymore.. maybe they still use the name just to make demons (who come up with it) angry lmao

Flutter0Shy

So yeah, in Japan as far as I know, eating like shows that you are enjoying the food, so eating quietly would quietly offend the chef. That's why "anime eating" is so different, at least for the foreigners, because it follows Japan's culture (and any neighbor countries that does the same) and not other cultures unless they want to or make up their own culture for their world.

Mokinata

It is actually dramatized in anime, and quiet eating isn't seen as rude. Just, loud eating, especially slurping, is considered a compliment. They make the voice actors record noises for eating mostly out of convention, but I'd assume since it's made for TV, it's to make it clear what's happening even for someone who's not looking at the screen. Source: I'm in Japan, people don't do loud eating that much lol
