Lol, yeah. That opening song is probably the single most misleading anime OP in terms of tone and foreshadowing. Hilarious in hindsight. But the contrast between the OP , the first ED, and the overall whimsical and lighthearted tone of the first couple of episodes makes things like the end of episode 3 and... other scenes that much more impactful by contrast.

Mami was at least on par or even stronger magical girl than Homura lorewise. She just made a rookie mistake to ult the boss straight away not knowing there's multi layer of HP on that boss just because she is too eager to have party with Madoka.

eh, i don't think translating witch runes is necessary at all to watch the show, some subbers translate the witches' names and some don't, I feel it's more useful for a post-watching analysis... and I'm saying that as someone who translated witch runes from Magia Record for the community.
