Flutter0Shy

Now after season 1 ends, it would be the nice for before Season 2, to react the OVA of Eris and Episode 0 from Season 2 as are part of the story too

XT 421

The reason he immediately answered is lost in the anime but makes more sense in the LN. Rudy just got "this vibe" looking at Orsted - the way he casually mentioned the future and fate, his aloofness, the mysterious nature - he felt "oh, maybe this guy has some answers." And he got really excited. Big mistake.

_TKD_

If where you're watching mushoku says season 1 has 24 episodes, and that season 2 has 13 episodes, don't worry about the OVAs, that means they're included.

Toasterfinal5

IMHO, I liked the first half of S2 more than S1. Next season’s narrative will go in a different direction. isekai is not my usual forte but after watching this & Re:Zero, it’s starting to grow on me.

SonSpike

Just be aware before you start season 2 that it is NOT like season 1. Don't expect a lot of action because you aren't going to get that. Don't get me wrong, it is still REALLY good and there's still some action, but it's just different. I just wanted to warn you because a lot of people really don't like the sudden change in tone, but the show will still be just as good if you liked the character development that's been happening over the last few episodes. The show really does slow down in season 2, but it makes complete narrative sense and there's still lots of great character moments. That's about as vague as I can be to not give any actual spoilers.

Soulseller33

yes he should definitly react to the Eris OVA, since a new important character will be introduced. And ofc the Episode 0 from Seasons 2 since, thats what starts the season :D

FinalMasterM

Absolute heart squeezing episode all around.

Irimu

I can't understand the people that complain about season 2. It made me so much happier than the rest of the series.

Soulseller33

About The ending with eris, you have to understand eris is REALLY bad with words... what she ment with the "not well matched" she thinks she is FAR inferiour to rudy and that she will drag him down. Thats why she left to get stronger.. ofc not considering how rudy felt about this... Feelings are not her strong suite as you know

Keith Merrington

The animation in S2 is not quite up to par with S1 (especially the earlier episodes), and the action content is definitely reduced - BUT, IMO the continuing story is well worth it.

SonSpike

I can understand because most people can't really handle massive tonal shifts like that. I didn't bother me because it was properly set up and the character development is SUPURB in this show.

dragonguard666

To comment on what you said at the end. From watching it with you, I think the show is fairly good but the sus moments centered around Rudy bring it down for me. I know otherwise it would be more cookie cutter, but I'm sure it could've been used to expand on the world more instead.

Keith Merrington

Luke - this anime is not about fan service. You don't have to get worried about sex scenes. Everything has a purpose to the story. As far as ages go - Eris here is 15 and so considered an adult and Rudy (as others have repeatedly pointed out) is internally past any world's age of consent. I like the fact that he initially tried to stop Eris as he didn't want to do anything that might take advantage of her - it shows he's come a long way from his previous shut-in personality. Also, they've just traveled across half the world together, fought monsters together and even a god. They've been responsible for each other and themselves for a long time now. If, after all that, they aren't mature enough to f*ck if they want to then they never will be.

Keith Merrington

Yes, Eris should really have paid more attention in her lessons. Her communication skills are terrible. Poor Rudy doesn't know what she means though and (reasonably enough) gets the wrong end of the stick.

Kannigl

I recently started reading the Webnovel because i really had to know how this anime continues. I have just finished Volume 17/24 and i can't believe how good this show is. For the longest time Made in Abyss was my most favourite Anime/Manga series but this one easily took that spot for me. I don't agree with all of the things Rudeus does in that show but i have no problem overlooking them for how amazing the overall storytelling is. The reason i feel this way is mostly because I HATE READING WITH A PASSION but i can't stop. It's the only thing i did for the last 2 weeks. I am so looking forward to how some parts are animated in the future. Especially the things that will probably happen in Season 3

MrGaldor123

Agreed. Eris OVA after S1 ends. I only just recently found out it exists, it's great :D

Arctic

Now the Depression and Psychological portion of the show really gets hammered in.

Kannigl

After going through what they did, they are way more mature than many of the 18 year old that wonder our planet today xD

Matt

Sometimes Luke's predictions piss me off because they're wrong, but so good I wish they were right.

Abe J

Lol I knew your face was gonna contort into some crazy shapes. The after... ouch.

Rur

Happy to see you finally recognize this series as the masterpiece it is

David Stowe

Came here to say this. Though maybe a little less spoilery, but that won't be until like.... season 4 or 5 maybe? But yeah, this ONE note she left him is the entire cause of season 2.

Paul

Make sure to watch episode 0 of season 2. It isn’t a recap, it’s important.

Burezu

I love and hate this ending section of season 1 lmao. I hate it because it hurts so much for Rudy but with all the goodbyes and misunderstandings, but I love i, because everything is so in character. Throughout this and last episode you can see Eris noticing something, she clearly feels inferior and notices how much she has been depending on Rudy, who always planned everything, was there for her emotionally and all that while technically being two years younger than her and being smaller than her, he himself had no one being there for him in the same way. This realisation makes Eris ashamed and wanting to leave for reasons

Animeter

Season 2, for me, is better than season 1. And the second half is getting more insane. :)

Tatersalad666

I won't spoil anything, but Eris is bad with words and her intentions aren't completely clear. The important thing is that Rudy interprets it as a complete rejection by Eris. Eris doesn't understand how much her actions hurt Rudy, and Rudy goes to a very dark place because he doesn't understand Eris's true intentions either.

Andrew Southwell

Rudy answered Orsted so quickly because he's also looking for info. He's the first person that has made any mention of it, so he took the chance.

Sai

Eris hit it and quit it. Poor Rudy... but I still love Eris as a character.

Taiga

15:07 They kinda traded strong persons, but Ghislaine isn't as strong as Ruijerd. Also at this point Eris should go toe to toe with Ghislaine, because she was training with a stronger master.

Kurogato

Rudeus and Luke getting to the same conclusing regarding Eris, poor girl, if only she could express herself better lmao

freshyjazzy12 .

One thing that’s really interesting is that in this new world Rudy has never cried, he didn’t cry as a baby when he was born or over anything that’s happened. But spending all this time with Eris, bonding with her and going through crazy shit, then finally having sex and planning on becoming family only for her to leave. That causes the damn to break and boy was it filled up with depression and sadness.

Hamza Stiti

I want to point out that this is the first time on the anime that we see Rudy actually ugly cry. he didn't even cry when fighting with his dad or reconciling... You said that if you find the bed empty then you were shit. that is exactly what Rudy is thinking

Frentzy

Oh crap the cringiest episode XD, the relatability of this episode was so high I felt for him whole 2nd season.

BornOfOsiris

Definitely one thing the anime didn't do well. The light novel gives her perspective sometimes but without that, this episode seems like eris just hit and quit

rjcloutier

Damn bro I swear I’ve teared up during like every episode, it’s the only anime that’s had that affect on me. Love your reactions & you do a good job analyzing and predicting honestly, it’s cool to see

BornOfOsiris

*Not spoilers because the anime doesnt touch on this* One of the few things in s1 that the anime did not get right. In the light novel you get her side of things, her thought process during these events. Like others have said, she is just bad with words, in no way wad she meaning to blame rudy for anything. But without her thoughts it seems like he was the reason she left, when in actuality, she thinks she is the problem and left to better herself and get stronger.

Axel Gil Pérez

As it's been said Eris didn't quite explain correctly her intentions. Some people complain that the anime doesn't depict correctly her perspective for leaving at this point. But if you notice how her expression changes when she ask on the horse ride what Rudy is doing and he tells her he's thinking on his next possible encounter with Orsted, that and also seeing that he was the only one that damaged him, both showed her that Rudy is mentally better prepared to deal with this issues and made her feel less than him.

2023-10-14 23:57:44 3:16 Why did rudy answer the Man-God question so quickly. Doesn't really matter. If he had waited, Orsted would assume the answer was yet because if somebody didn't know anything about the Man-God they wouldn't have to think of an answer. Rudy could have lied but, the time to think that he SHOULD lie, would tell Orsted the truth. Finally, why wouldn't he tell Orsted? Was there *any* reason to think the Orsted had a grudge against the Man-God. Rudy didn't even know Orsted was the Dragon God at that moment.

If the uber-Fireball had made it past the Wyrm Gate it probably would have killed Orsted... Along with everybody else within a thousand yards or so. That may count as beating Orsted but I wouldn't count it as a win. 8:42 Syphie, Eris and Roxy. Who does Rudy want? I haven't read the LNs but I looked at the covers. There are some interesting arrangements of characters but they can be interpreted different ways. 14:22 "I wonder if they're going to meet anyone here." 19 seconds later... 18:10 I love seeing that patch where Orsted punched through Rudy's back. Don't see it later on - it would have made a great conversation piece. 25:08 The weird flying things over the ocean. Yeah, you've seen them before. They're the lizardy equivalent of seagulls. The showed up in at least 2 episodes - I think 13 and 14. 28:25 There's a manga that covers what Eris did after this episode. Called "eris gets serious" or "Eris Gaiden". Not long. Theoretically has spoilers but I didn't notice anything that seemed to be a problem. I'm betting it won't be animated so you might as well read it. It's pretty good. Also, DAMN Eris is bloodthirsty.

BanTheUndead

Eris is a lady but Rudy is a lord technically, just a significantly less affluent one. Also the anime cuts Eris' perspective of the situation, she realized how much younger Rudy is than her and how much more powerful he is so she left to get stronger without him as a crutch. "We aren't well matched right now" She thinks that they can only be together if there equally as powerful but Rudy misinterprets this to be that its his fault.

GTB

Next week, you'll understand Eris's point of view on what's just happened (I don't understand why some people explain this to you now when it's literally explained in the next episode...). Rudeus won't have this point of view. After 8 years with Eris, 3 years of adventure, after their night, Eris left without a goodbye, determined not to be found. From Rudy's point of view, Eris has rejected and abandoned him. A total abandonment. You can guess that this is a major event, seriously affecting Rudeus...

Obscuremango

Next week I'm excited for next episode then the OVA. (Must watch OVA before s2 ep0) As well your gonna love it. This episode broke me after. Pilemon is Paul's brother and is a lot worse than Paul in the degen way. Paul is the least tame notos Greyrat. Once you get to ep0 I can tell you one more bit about a guy who appears there.

Zer0

Not a baby, kittens.

Colm Barry

He probably answered Orsted so quickly because his first instinct was "Thank god, other people know about him, I'm not crazy for seeing that white asshole in my dreams"

David Deschaintre

i definitely feel its similar to the shift between s1 and s2 of made in abyss that turned off a lot of people, but yeah i cant blame people either for having expectations and feeling like theyre not met

Harley Burnie

1:26 The battle for Best Girl is rough. I am a giant fan of Roxy, of course, and Sykphy and Eric’s are amazing, the the fight only ever had the one champion- Zenith Greyrat. People honestly let her slip their minds, but I always wish her happiness. I intensely await news of her situation.

Harley Burnie

Also, you asked about Ruijerd getting rid of the spear last episode, but Ruijerd told Rudy about THAT spear being his son’s. :/ 6:45 If Rudy had managed to set off that fireball, the 3of them would have disappeared, along with that mountaintop. His understanding of science helps make his magic exponentially stronger and more efficient(sadly, a detail left out of the anime). Ousted accidentally saved everyone’s lives.

Harley Burnie

7:00 Worst change of the anime. Do to the Mana Calamity, NOTHING was in Buena Village. All life got teleported, and all structures were deleted. Having ruins and shite in the anime massively alters the power and ramifications of the disaster which occurred. I mean….would it has been easier on the staff to keep it all empty?!?!? Lolz These ruins don’t even make sense!!! With only just over 2 years since the event, the houses and shite be still be mostly intact. It’s just a terrible choice to change it. Plus 8:00 if this tree got damaged by that light, everyone would have been killed rather than teleported. 7:33 BEST Girl, I say!!!!

Harley Burnie

I will say, the love scene was exceptionally tasteful. I’d be fine this being a standard for how those type of cars are handled.

Lol it's funny because we definitely forget that they are COUSINS the whole time!

FullHeart

well, yes and no. They aren't first cousins - Eris is related to Rudy via her grandfather. Grandpa Sauros' sister had children that created the family line that led to rudeus, while Sauros' line led to Eris. But it also gets more complicated than that with the way the different branches of Greyrats swap male heirs, meaning the separation between them is at minimum second cousins with only 3% shared DNA, but if there were any heir swaps they could be arbitrarily separated to the point you could consider them not even related at all, at least in so much as anyone "isnt related to each other". I'm using this chart for the DNA percentage and relationship https://www.almanac.com/sites/default/files/users/The%20Editors/chart-cousins_0.jpg

FullHeart

Something that just speaks to how much this hurt Rudy - He has never cried. He didnt cry when he was a baby, didnt cry when he got sent to the demon continent, didnt cry when he got people killed in the petrified forest. He heavily suppresses his emotions as carry over from his last-life depression. Eris going away is the first time weve seen him cry over anything.

GTB

Not really. They are distant cousins. At this level of blood relationship, there is no biological danger (the risk of genetic abnormality is similar to that of 2 strangers), and it is not classified as incest. This is still the case today, it's not incest and such a marriage/union is permitted in most countries of the world.

Syaf

Its funny that you asked who is rudy gonna pick between Roxy sylphy and eris well all i can say is.. he's a greedy boi

Syaf

Btw please watch those 2 special episode before starting season 2

Jc

if you ever feel up to it I highly suggest the Webnovel SEVENS. really freaking good. One of my favorites along with Mushoku

Keith Merrington

Luke - a few points to note... 1. At the end of the the next (final S1) episode, there is additional content after the end credits - please watch this. 2. Please don't forget to watch the S1 OVA before starting S2. 3. S2 starts with Episode 0 (zero), not 1.

Jaime0197

Your facial expression killed me. Had to warch this scene 2 times because I couldn't focus on the subtitles

Yogesh Mehta

This scene parallels their encounter on his 10th birthday when he was so fixated on objectifying Eris that he didn't think about her emotional state (he didn't even realize she was trying to comfort his loneliness until after she left) or how to act. Now, when she comes in dressed liked that and sits on his bed, his first thought is concern for her emotional well-being. Also, instead of ignoring her trembling fists like last time, this time he held them to provide comfort and put her at ease. This was also his first time saying "no" to anything sexual this whole season (except with Aisha) because he was repeatedly putting her emotional state above his lust, which is something you probably would never have expected even just a couple of episodes ago.

EGGY MCNUGGETS

If nothing was left after the disaster then no one would know where anything was realistically. Structures and natural landmarks are the foundation of how our brains remember where things are located, you cant find home if home and everything around it is gone. Obviously they kept it to give the audience context that it wasn't just people being transported, it was a fucking catastrophic event that destroyed home, there wouldnt have been as big of an impact if rudy was just staring at some grey ash instead of what was his where he took his first steps in this new world.

Adam Niemi

Yes she is on a training adventure with ghilaine

Misteryk

He's not a lord, Paul was disowned form Notos branch when he ran away from the house

Cassii

man i hope you dont read these comments, full of people spitting out spoilers or suggesting things that are spoilers as well. ffs can yall shut up fr

Joseph Jaquinto

Guys stop spoiling shit he's guessing. Hey if you have a mod on these comments please have them remove the spoilers for you

reesespieces342

sex so bad she had to go on a whole ass adventure

AngelGxbriel

"you were shit" had me dead wtaf😂😂

Andy Hinton

i believe she left because she realizes that they both have stuff they need to accomplish before settling into a relationship. Also, because they both have growing up to do.

Technosage

He answered the question so fast because he finally met somebody who knew who the man god was. And it's just wanted to share it with somebody.

Technosage

That's spelled that you're talking about. The one that the shield stopped was a f****** nuke, it was the equivalent of a hydrogen bomb. Rudy literally made a nuclear explosion with a fire spell.

Kapitan Bekon

23:42 BROO you just fu**ed up the whole scene... and I love it XDD
