So was it clarified to him as to exactly how Shin and co survived that legion encounter in episode 11? Coz I know the anime doesn’t do the greatest job of showing; only hints here and there from visual and dialogue. And it’s not technically spoiling if someone does explain their survival. Spoiler just in case… Basically, after Rei was ‘killed’ he was able to transfer his consciousness to another Legion unit - the Dinosauria that you see in this episode. He followed the Spearhead squadron up to the point where we see them ‘die’ in episode 11. Rei (who had managed to regain his sanity) saved Spearhead from death and carried them all the way to the Federacy of Giad, before eventually dying this time. This cour will be covering volume 2/3, and it’ll bridge the gap in-between the final chapter and epilogue in volume 1. So, in a way, you’re sorta still at the ‘prologue’ of the series. Expect some world building and quite a bit of character development for the cast.

Mascots were basically assigned to squadrons by governments to bring soldiers together to give them a common cause to fight for to make sure they don't go off on their own. Most irl mascots were animals.

So the government assigning Frederica to them is a way of saying do what your told or she will die. Because technically she is their sister on "Paper". Also very little people know that Frederica is the Empress of the previous regime. On paper it looks like she was just a war orphan adopted by Ernest.

32:12 I'm guessing I'm the weird one, cause when Kurena tosses the mints tin, I get emotional. I mean, it is so beautiful, and this scene reminds me of the overwhelmingly gorgeous anime I'd seen so far. This anime makes me feel intensely, both for the story and for the composition and appearance. I will be recommending 86 for the rest of my life. 46:20 And yes...regardless of the fact that I long lost count of how many times I've watched this entire season, I still feel like weeping with Lena when she finds that picture and gets to almost sorta see the faces of those fellow children whom died just the other side of an audio sensation. An entire photo of young people who died because ..it's for the Alba nation. Fucking glory to the Spearhead squadron.

Another underrated anime is Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song. It came out at the same time as 86. 2021 was a good year.

You don't need another reaction video to the s2 OP, but I'd recommend rewatching it on your own time because it hits SO much harder now that you've seen most of 86.
