Isekai revolves around the character ending up in another world, so Oshi No Ko isn't an Isekai since it's the same world. Oshi No Ko is a Tensei anime.

I feel like this would have been better if watched after Overlord given that the 'I'm lucky enough to be right even if i have flawed information' bit is a major part of Overlord, and, because this is a parody of isekais, less on the nose.

IMHO there is so much anime that worth your (or anyone else’s) reaction much more than this one… But I’m glad if someone enjoys it. I just don’t find it good in the slightest, don’t know what parody “that only anime veteran can understand” are some people talking about, parody should ridicule popular cliches and tropes, and it’s not the case for EiS. The author just gathered them all around and made a story out of it. I’ve watched more than 500 anime shows in my life, and yeah, I don’t see the funny parody, or any parody at all, just a bunch of annoying cliches out of every mid isekai/harem anime ever existed mixed up together

What do you mean by official website? Hidive is the website that has the rights to show this, I'm not aware of a different legitimate streaming service that is hosting it. Please let me know if someone legit also has this show, as I'd love to not watch it on Hidive (but also don't want to go to shady sites/torrent).

It isn't about the danger of the shady sites for me, it is that I'm not supporting the industry. I love anime, and they cost money to make. If I'm not paying for the ability to watch them, I'm not supporting the creators. I've certainly been in situations where I didn't have the money to do so, so I'm no stranger to the shady sites and pass no judgement on those who do use them. As long as I'm in secure financial situation though I will always try to watch "legitimately".

Cid is kind of a low-key genius. As, the group of 'bandits' at the start of Episode 2, were a part of the Cult of Diablos. But, Cid subconsciously put all the clues together - the processed Alpha, the books, drinks, and other items he stole from the Cult. So, while Cid was 'making it up', he was just putting together the context clues. If Cid wasn't such a childish person, he would make an amazing detective xD So, yes while Cid is definitely lucky, he's also very smart - even if it's subconsciously/selective intellegence.

1:24:00 The comparison to Rimiru could not be less correct. Rimiru was actually hella weak for the first three years of his new life. He was smart, and got lucky. Our lord and savior Shadow was basically OP five minutes after crapping his pants the first time. Cid, in his Earth life, train in damn near every martial art, fighting style, weapon combat, and self defense he could find. That means Baby Cid still knows ALL of that. He just had to grow into his body.

Basically he thinks the girls are just humoring him, thinking that they know he is making this stuff up as he goes along. However they think its all real and takes it seriously. Once you realize this (kinda mention this in the manga, but they dont in the anime for some reason. that or its conveyed better), it becomes more of a wild ride. He's quite the sociopath, and we love him for it. This one gets compared to another anime you want to watch name ___________ pretty often.

That's the entire point of the show. The best way to explain this show is that its a b rate movie that knows it is bad and leans into it heavily for the fun. This entire show is about being tropey and and overly edgy but being very on the nose with it for the fun of it. This is the best kind of show to turn your brain off and just enjoy the ride because that is all its trying to be. There is no deeper meaning to it.

I agree with you, but at the same time recognize what the others are saying. It knows that it is a trope and chooses to be; which I quite enjoyed. What I don't enjoy about this particular show is that whoever translated it decided to "translate" proper nouns, which drives me insane and should be criminal.

It's familiar because the anime embraces every trope, literaly all of them, and turns them up to the limit of cringe and then beyond, while at the same time being self aware. And yet there's the little part of you that's stuck at twelve that can't not find it awesome anyway.

Luke, this anime turns the anime tropes to the maximum, including the main character's coolness, something that in other anime is usually annoying, in this one it's very funny, I don't know how you watched it with a straight face, lol

You know? I watched this entire anime and I enjoyed it. But it also Somehow kind of sucked. It was definitely garbage isekai but it was good garbage isekai. now will I or would I ever go back and watch season 1 ever again no no I would not it's not that good but will I watch season 2 yes definitely actually can't wait for season 2

Probably because he doesn't know Most anime tropes yet. And doesn't quite understand them fully enough yet for it to be as funny as to someone who has been watching anime for 3 to 20 years at least that's what I think. In my opinion He should have waited longer to watch this. So that way he would understand the anime tropes more and it would be more like I understand this trope or I understand that reference and then he would find it more funny

Either one guy was trolling or was being a idiot when he was suggesting to follow closely what the MC says. That is how you get confused in this show, will be fun to see with his no experience to fantasy or isekai shows how hard is it for to get the jokes. Personally wouldn't have recommended this until he had more isekai shows under his belt. PS. After seeing all the 5 episodes wasn't surprised Luke was missing over half of the jokes =)

Because it's in a sense too early for him to watch this. Anime tropes done here don't mean jack shit to a person who first of all haven't been bombarded by those tropes like almost 99% of all in this patreon have been for years and years of them. Eminence to get all the jokes and tropes done in this is hard for people who aren't anime spam watchers for years.

In the manga (I am not sure about the books but they are on my list) his sister knows something is off with him that he is stronger than he seems and was angry that he didn't come to save her. The anime doesn't get that across very well.

I have seen anime for only a year or a little more, apart from the few animes (Naruto, two seasons of Attack on Titan, three seasons of Seven Deadly Frames and two or three season of Sword Art Online) I've watched a few years ago, and I know the tropes. But to be fair I watched a lot of anime in this year (over an hundred anime), and a lot of anime with lot of tropes. Luke hasn't watched enough anime with tropes because they sometimes are more anime-esque and are not as recommended as the anime he has watched yet.
