English is not my mother language, so doing my best here: You could say that the song is "important".It refers to a myth/legend, "La Llorona" or "The weeping woman," which is a very popular part of Mexican (and other countries') folklore. It has multiple "versions," but it's a story of a lady who dr0 wned her kids on a lake, and it's bound to roam near bodies of water mourning and looking for her children.

If you're interested in more Latin female singers, here a re few I recommend, Celia Cruz, Lupita D'Alessio, Rocío Dúrcal and La Oreja de Van Gogh, the first 3 are more old school, from the 80s the late 90s, while the last one is is a group from the early 00s, they're all amazing singers with beautiful voices.
