I have been watching Slime with many different reactors, and I would say Shion is the favorite character of the overwhelming majority of men. She's not my favorite character, I get it, but the main point is that Rimuru is attached to her, so the arc you refer to makes sense.

I want to say that the variety of rice makes a big difference. And how fresh it is. Also in many Isekai, the mc finds themselves craving Japanese cooking, esp. soy sauce, and even more, rice.

They use the word maoh, which can be translated demon or devil (ma), lord or king (oh or ou). But yes, people often forget there is not equivalency between Eastern and Western cultures ond mythologies, just words are used that have been somewhat arbitrarily assigned as common translations. I have seen oni translated as ogre, but sometimes devil or demon (but in the context of this anime, that would be inconsistent). I don't know Japanese that well, this is just what I've observed. Also, many Japanese games have standardized what kind of monster is what, even if it's just one interpretation of Japanese culture.

Two important aspects of the world: monsters respect those who are stronger, who have defeated them, and they are frequently battle junkies. If they give their loyalty to someone, esp. someone who has named them, they don't break it easily, and they don't tolerate insults to that leader. The second thing is that not only does naming allow a certain amount of skill sharing, but the combination of Great Sage and Predator has a subfunction of "receive and provide". The skills are shared up to Rimuru, and, if appropriate, down to the named. This is not fully efficient sharing, though. These are some of Rimuru and company's reasons for rapid development, naming everyone in sight (kind of unheard-of), and having skills that connect him more closely with his subordinates.

Yeah no shit she is the favorite of most men, most of use are absolutely brainless and think "wow, big sword and big bussom, great character development!" I can't think of a single scene where shion really added to the story, she is useless as a "secretary", her fighting ability is good but nothing too special, extremely replaceable when it comes to any scene where she is fighting. The arc where stuff goes down, the princess could have been used instead and it probably would have had a much better effect, she is obviously loved by everyone in the community, whereas shion is separated from the community, always just hanging onto rimuru like a rag doll. Compare her to ranga, or gabiru, or Soe, who are kind of irreplaceable because they have extremely specific abilities, and are smart, powerful, have character development, and are actually interesting and funny. Shion, on the other hand, just takes up space on the screen and makes me visibly cringe. I would love to get into an argument with one of the many guys I am talking about, I don't think you are one of them, but yes, I am instigating a friendly argument with anyone. No beef if you like her, but I will tell you exactly why *I* hate her.

Can't really respond to your other points because it's mostly personal opinion which is fine ig, still think your hate is extremely overblown but whatever. First of all the characters you mentioned aren't any more irreplaceable than her, in skills shion beats them, in effect/character Ranga and Gabiru are probably more important, but not Souei. Though I do personally like Souei more than Shion. You said she adds nothing and she's replacable in fights, just not true, which you probably think because the anime didn't go super indepth to her abilities, but she's EXTREMELY strong, and in her fight you're probably thinking of rn anyone else would lose, I'd recommend watching a couple videos that explains the power systems and fights or reading the LN, you'd probably see why you're wrong, it'd also just give you more appreciation for the series since you already seem to like it. AniNews on YT has some good videos on it.

I get that she is powerful, but to me it always just seems forced. This is common throughout the show, but especially in shion. She is just "super duper strong" without any reason, and just so happens to fit the power level to be the one fighting when they could have many other characters be fighting instead of her. She always finds a way to take up space on the screen no matter what, I just want to see other characters. Literally if her character was slightly less sexualized and less annoying and bratty, I think she would be a great character. But her butting in and answering for rimuru doesn't do it for me, and her tantrum that happened recently is further proof of them just finding any excuse to shove her into every scene.

Shizu was a Majin but he has not come across a demon Ifrit was a Greater Spirit. Rimuru himself is a Majin the Kijin are all Majin. The author never really goes into detail on what a Majin is.

They can learn but in some cases, they get the power from Rimuru. EXAMPLE: Gobta learned to summon his wolf before Rimuru did and while Benimaru got his Black Flame from Rimuru he developed Hell Flare himself.

Sometimes they are translated as demons, and sometimes as ogres (even to the point where they use the English loan word in the anime). It's not a particularly good choice, as oni are magical creatures while ogres are not. The traditional oni appearance is vaguely ogre-like, which is probably where that translation choice comes from. In this anime, of course, the oni are good-looking, not at all ogre-like. That's a common theme in anime - ugly monsters are transformed into attractive humanoid characters. Demon is generally a better translation choice, though there's also the word akuma for that (which itself is also often translated as devil).

he usually say a few livestreams in advance (1-2) that he will move a certain livestream another day. So if u didn't watched thursday you might not know it's sunday, he usually say toward the end of the stream or randomly within the stream.

was not expecting it to be on sunday, so sad that I couldnt see it live :'(. please try not to watch the show constantly scared of "cheeky" stuff, it is part of the world and the art style, and it honestly is not as bad as what they have on twitch with vtubers roaming around every corner. that being said, the secretary lady is one of my least favorite female characters in this show, I think she is uneccesary and doesnt add anything but annoying fanservice and an arc that should have honestly left her the way she was (If you know, you know). Rimuru is sexless, but he is male on the inside, so I dont understand why they continue to push him toward a more feminine character, especially in the slime diaries. anyways, if you just watch the show accepting that the art style is very "exaggerated" and the culture accepts nudity, it will probably be much more enjoyable. You constantly freaking and shouting when a weird angle or character proportion or scene pops up seems forced and probably just makes it worse, there has to be some way to leave a disclaimer or something so you dont have to fear a twitch ban, and then you can just enjoy the show the way you want to. Also I get that some of the comedy is blowing past your head, but if you try to listen to the character vocal tone and match it to what the subtitles say, it usually makes certain humor scenes much better. Like when rimuru wanted to see what the female version of himself looked like, then stopped himself in a hilarious manner since he knows that he is male on the inside and having weird thoughts about his own body is just uhhhhhh. anyways, I hope you are enjoying the show, it really is amazing if you can watch it without fear of twitch, obviously any scene with secretary lady is just unnecessarily weirds, but besides her, the show is really really really really reallly really really really really really really reallly really really really really really really really really really good.

😂😂 watching the rice war in the middle of this stream is great… but I do get where he’s coming from… specially his country, the UK and surrounding has VERY little influence from Asian cultures. Even top chefs from the UK VASTLY mess up Asian cuisine, so it’s fair enough he probably hasn’t had good authentic rice made properly, it’s probably tasted watery or overly starchy and bland since preparation is an important step and steps are skipped in most places in the UK to make top notch rice… as someone who lives in a place heavily influenced by many cultures, going to an Asian inspired restaurant and getting a bowl of just white rice was something I LOVED as a kid

This. In Brazil, 99% of people eat rice regularly, and even so it's SO damn hard to find some well prepared plain rice. People are so used to bad rice they cannot appreciate some good quality and well prepared plain rice. Wherever I feel like having some, I have to cook it myself, and I hardly have time to do so. When I do cook it, most of it goes to waste anyway, because my family cannot fathom how anyone would eat rice without garlic nor onions, and strongly refuse to eat it. I myself used to hate rice, but I lived a while with some Korean friends, and only then I learned how good rice can taste.

Your hate for shion seems pretty unjustified, of course it's fine to not like a character much but to say she adds nothing is just kinda wrong? she adds just as much if not more to the show than most characters, plus being OP as fuck. A disclaimer wouldn't change anything to twitch but there's no nudity so not sure why he freaks out about it anyway, also I don't think they really push rimuru towards being "a feminine character", it's just skits for comedic relief and even then it can just be characters wanting him to wear cute clothes. And no need to be rude to Peter for no reason :)

I can see a lot of confusion so i offer spoilerless explanation. Demon Lord is a Title which could be held by creature of any Race (technically but not really) and have nothing to do with actual demons which is a race. Cannot explain any further without spoilers. Now Majin is a Race of intelligent magical beings that can be Born of any Race. They could be monsters evolved enough or nonmagical creature like human, transformed by other means like for example human become vampire which would be majin with a human subtype (this is just example btw there may or may not be vampires). Shizu was majin, rimuru could be considered majin too technicaly as slime subrace, also japanese have many words that could be translated as demon, majin is one of them, but majins and demons in this context are two different things, Demon Lord is more precisely Majin Lord or that is how i understand it in this context

Yeah as a North American, I love rice, love putting it in stuff, love most asian foods I've eaten, or at least the NA versions of those foods. But I don't think I can recall ever thinking rice has any real taste on it's own.

I've wondered that too and someone told me it was cause the ONE time anime had HORRIBLE food everyone freaked out and it has since been known as the "Cabbage incident" (I just named it the Cabbage incident. But if you look up Anime Cabbage you'll see why). So now anime has to make food in anime look good or face the wrath of anime fans.

As a chef i can state, rice indeed has a taste, not a strong one, but it does have one. Rice is something that is good at going with other things. Also, white rice is not plain rice. Brown rice is.
