Neon Genesis is one of the most influential and iconic animes ever, that it is easily considered a classic anime. As for the opening being so loved, besides it being a good song and a well constructed op.. it has achieved the status of anime anthem, so people know it as anime anthem.. it's not an official title just what a lot of fans consider it, I would also agree it's one of the best openings to be an anthem. Good reaction as always Luke, I'll be sure to reccomend more openings sometime in the future.

Now you don't have a choice. You have to go and do a “Tamashii no Refuran” reaction. If this give you a bit more of an incentive, know that Su-Metal did a cover of the song. And in my Opinion, “Tamashii no Refuran” is just one of those song I could listen all day without ever getting bored with “Kiss of Death” from another show “Darling in the FranXX”.

Evangelion is quite old but its very well known for being an influential classic Just, I wouldn't watch it if you have a low tolerance for psychological horror...

Bad anime with a good opening. That is it. I personally don't even think the opening is that good and people just like it based on nostalgia.

I have all watched all the episodes of the original anime + all of the remakes and movies associated with Neon Genesis Evangelion and while I completely understand the protagonist's journey of worthlessness and self loathing, the entire story I found to be too confusing to follow and I found the protagonist outright annoying. The movies did clear the story and the lore up a bit, but overall in my opinion this anime was just not good. I know this anime has a lot of fans who love this one, but it simply wasn't for me.

While we're on the Subject of older anime u should check out the openings and endings to Yu Yu Hakusho. Like this they are a major classic
