We need a reaction to some one piece ost's!:)

Ok off topic..... so i gleamed something in the chat at the very start where one of the comment said "Personally, I like bookworm even more then ***one.. which tells how hyped I am for you watching it"...... Not sure what ***one refer to but is Luke watching bookworm? I must be reading this wrong, or the comment was just a random one.....

Orieng

More and more ppl have asked for bookworm, but it has not yet to won a tournament :)

Christophe Perrin

Turn off chat for this. Some of the people in there are so freaking obnoxious. Newsflash: No one cares what you think about that Arc.

wildhunt1973

I wasn't sure I was going to like this arc, considering how much I did like the initial SAO arc, but I think I like this one more. So, another day wasted watching another new series. LOL. Ugh, I have too much to watch!

hb.beny

No one cares what you think about the chat... Just ignore it and enjoy the reaction.

Sean

I want to say Sugou is in his early 20s. He says he and Asuna used to play as kids, but she never liked him.

Orieng

This stream was so much fun :)

Chesk

If you want it to be a little more dystopian then check Accel World out. It's from the same author. It takes place in the same world, but in 2046.

LeKikish

6 episodes next week? Im ready for the show.

Herrscher Of Cope

And no one asked for your input either but here we are. Why worry about chat? Luke only checks it when he is explicitly asking more an explanation. And Chat is usually very good at telling him if he doesn’t need to know something yet

Frentzy

people asking are a minority. Well 86.. was also a minority until it z.z forged hands with violet evergarden fans (which wasn't a minority). Personal thoughts (you can ignore this if you want): I know there is someone asking every day in patreon for that show but even tho myself I rated 9/10 and saw all 3 seasons, and I even know 4th season is confirmed (and I would even watch on twitch if this wins), I STILL don't get it why people recommend it a.a. Like it's mega slow pace, good to binge a season in 1 sitting, 3 binge session and you're done. And even if you think about it, there is nothing really that =.= "insane" about the show itself. There is no massive twist, it's just world building with Myne and chillfest. You have the priest as the villain and s3 more action than s1-s2 combined. When I recommend a show I am trying to sell a hype machine to others that didn't saw the show but here the show is just "ok". A solid 8-9 show that never bring hypes, just good vibes. So is enough of a show to bring good vibes, to keep +400 Viewers at once throughout the whole stream?. Personally I believe no. But who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

Robert Becker

While this arc is widely considered the worst arc in the Show overall as far as how it compares to other Anime in the genre Sword art's worst arc is still better than most other similar anime's best.

MonographicSingleheaded

29:25 probably the abilitiers and numbers most likely arent balanced well within the new game lmao. also, mentality wise Kirito is a veteran soldier fighting kids rn.

FraaD

Just curious before i watch this ,why just 4 eps ? Not 5 like usual ?

Because he'll watch 20 to 25 next week, he'll finish season 1 instead of being cut off at episode 24 and waiting a week for the last episode then start season 2

2024-03-10 22:51:39 This arc isn't fundamentally bad. I like the setup and the basic steps it takes. But I hate what it does with/to Asuna. And before anyone jumps on me for this, yes, I understand the concept of having the villain do bad things to make you dislike him. That doesn't suddenly make "women in refrigerators" or "sexual assault to motivate the male protagonist" unproblematic tropes.

All of the main series of SAO is safe, all hints to lewd is properly godrayed or fogged out. Theres a spinoff season showing season 1 from Asuna's perspective. and in there people complained too much fanservice, so the Producer did a based take and removed the censor even more in the DVD release, not folding to those keyboard warrior karens. The politics in this game sounds bad when you think in small terms like 1 party or 1 guild, but its the biggest game in history, bigger then WoW. and the thing that affect an entire race is like 1/7th of that entire game population. Like the unlimited flying would give 1 race a clear advantage over all other races. which matters a LOT when the game balance is based around pvp and controlling territories. that one race could whipe out the other races entirely.

Maybe you should go to a doctor and get checked for memory loss. :P Just kidding! You forget things way too often. I hope it's only facts from fictional media that you forget, not something from rl.

Sai

33:30 That is so you can T-bag them.

Jabin (Aelic)

What are you talking about? Chat, for this show especially, has been using every opportunity they can to spoil the show or allude to spoilers.

seansky

Yeh tbh I don’t know how I feel about voting for bookworm on twitch stream, rather it be one like heavenly delusion for example. We are mostly suggesting bookworm coz Luke indicated multiple times he loves world building, and a lot of us think bookworm gets full mark with that regard. For me, I’m giving bookworm a higher rank due to what’s to come, if they decide to finish animating all the light novel content, which seems plausible since they announced a 4th season with a different studio.

dragean greyfield

1:19:29 at least the tables are safe from recon.

WWEdeadman

Okay, so since I was in Brussels for the ado concert and couldn't be there live, I'll just post one gigantic comment with timestamps for anything I would have otherwise said in chat. 7:50 yeah, I don't get why people think this arc is bad. Probably just people who can't handle the change away from the original "you die in the game you die for real" premise. 8:05 :) 12:25 Cause he's going in with a "fuck you" kind of attitude. That's why. 16:50 Yeah, that's one of the real strengths of the show. It feels like you've been watching months worth of episodes when in reality you just watched about the equivalent of one a day for 2 weeks. 17:30 Correct. Him using his SAO name bugged the system, since it's based on SAO's engine, so there's junk data from the game still there. Remarkably realistic bug, BTW. 20:10 HEY LISTEN! xD 43:34 :) 50:00 PREWATCHED! That timing though! xD 57:40 Most delusional character ever to be written. Like, fucking Light Yagami is more sane than this dude. 1:19:05 Yeah, no, that's how everyone feels about him, I'm sure. 1:31:00 :) 1:41:50 I would. ._. 1:44:55 KABEDON 1:52:53 Megumin approves of that strategy. EXPLOSION! 1:53:45 Yeah, no, you don't xD

CoreTendency

I think the main thing I didn't like as much with this major arc of SAO was that the stakes felt lower than before. Still enjoyed it, though, and I liked the later arcs a good deal more.

CdrCain

You hit on one of my main issues with this story arc. Its not that I don't like it because the stakes aren't as high, it's because they try to treat most in game moments as dramatic as if they are still in SAO. Like when Leafa looks away and closes her eyes during Kirito's first fight, like she can't bear the sight of seeing someone "die" in game but she's been playing for a full year PvPing like crazy but somehow can't take seeing the guy she's known for 2 minutes get sent back to respawn? That's one of the smallest examples. There are others plus the ones you've already noticed. I won't spoil scenes coming up but there is a lot more of that to come and it just takes me out of it because they try way too hard to over dramatize the in game moments. It's kind of cringy and takes me out of it. I wish they treated it so much more like it's just a game and be less dramatic. Then have Kirito take it too seriously. It would have been a great opportunity to showcase his PTSD and compare the difference between how players react in a "normal" game vs SAO. Where he has to learn to come to terms with reminding himself that "it's only a game" this time. However, what actually happens is even weirder because everyone treats the game like its super dramatic and serious all the time but Kirito is the one that doesn't seem to take it seriously at all. Sure he's serious about getting back to Asuna but otherwise he's the least serious player in the game most of the time. It's true he's not invested in the player factions at all so I get that he really doesn't care but it's just weird how chill he is about being back in a full dive game while tons of other people are the ones acting like they are in SAO. However, I will say that even though this isn't a really great arc and I'm not a fan, it's still better than some other shows I've seen. So it's not like its 100% trash at all times. And I'm honestly glad you're enjoying it because this is the weakest arc by far and if you don't mind this arc, then you'll be enjoying the ones coming up for sure. Looking forward to the next reaction!

Michael

I just treat it as everyone’s role playing because they are anyway, and that makes it better

Michael

Wait til Luke sees the lightsaber

CdrCain

Honestly, that's not a bad way to look at it. It still doesn't make the moments like the phone call better where the lighting and thunder are going off while they talk about in game drama IRL. But that lens isn't a bad one for the in game moments at least. Still it's not the best writing IMO when the viewer has to choose to look at it a different way for it to come across better. The writing should be able to stand on its own. For me its more like the writer(s) hadn't figured out what the new tone of the show was and that's why the seriousness is all over the place. So they were trying to figure out how the show was supposed to be while writing the final draft of the show, which is kind of weird. It's especially odd when they had such a great arc set up with plenty of space left to tell stories in but decided to end it randomly and then decided this was going to be the right follow up to it. Regardless though, good comment and good suggestion.

Matthew Williams

The line in the ED is "kitto" to act with certainty or without fail.

Kosumi

30:00 something else to mention is that there is magic in this game unlike SAO. Players need to spend time leveling their magic skill and wear gear that boosts their magic stats as well, like mana and intelligence. So that's another level as to why Kirito is so much physically stronger than the people he was fighting Basically, when all is said and done it boils down to this: Kirito was "him" in SAO, but now he's HIM in Alfheim Online

Kosumi

So with the whole illusion monster, from a game design perspective. Kirito doesn't really become the monster, his avatar is just replaced with it. He still attacks every enemy in succession just like the monster does, but rather than a sword slash or stab, the monster model has his own movements. So when the game system registers a confirmed hit, the monster also has a confirmed hit. TLDR: Kirito doesn't become stronger from the transformation, he just changes character models.

Daddelzeit

And then there is One Piece with single fights that last longer than 16 episodes xD

Yami Shoumetsu

My theory about why people doesn't think much about the illusion magic is that most users of that magic doesn't have the stats to really utilize it unlike kirito with his cheater character.

Exter

Honestly, I remembered this arc to be much worse than it really is. However still think that this is the worst arc in SAO compared to the other ones. The main things I dislike are the for the most part non- existent stakes, the story with Kirito's sister and Alfheim Online which feels very bland in comparison to SAO's world. I mean it is supposed to be a SAO knock- off built on its engine but the whole world just feels so generic and uninteresting to me. Of course there's also the villain of this arc who I absolutely despise but I guess this is a good thing since he's the villain. In general I think this arc isn't necessarily horrible but definitely much more boring and "uninspired" than Aincrad, Alicization or even GGO.

rostikowb

So what's the problem? In the end, the authors achieved the desired effect. I'll just say that we didn't have to like what was happening to Asuna, that's the point

Lexi

I think this is a good faith question, so I'd like to answer it. But if "women don't like it when most of their depictions in media sexually objectify them and reduce them to props and mcguffins to make male heroes look cool, and they're allowed not to like it" isn't something we can agree on, then the answer becomes a lot more complicated, and I don't want to write a novel here. I also don't want to accidentally spoil future episodes for anyone, so I'll save most of my thoughts for a future video.

Quincey Forder

this is why SAO pretty much fueled half of my game adventures on Eclipse Phase! Similar approach to existential and psychological horror. in that TTRPG, there is a hypercorporation called Cognite that is specialized in what he's doing. It's called psychosurgery. Not sure, but I think this term was coined by Richard K Morgan in his Altered Carbon trilogy

Quincey Forder

You're right! There's no steaks in this arc! At most, some meat skewers!

Sprucefer

The stakes not being high being paired with the inconsistent and often weak writing SAO already has makes this season so hard to hard to watch, but Luke's reactions make it pretty enjoyable at least.

Pilligrim Ilyas

Isn't it good that these topics problematic? I always for the idea of talking about such important stuff and discussing and saying why it's bad.

TheWizOz

It's a super hardcore game right? Everyone better be roleplaying like they're fighting for their fck lives! I believe it's hardcore in the way that you lose experience when you die (Harsh as fck) and no fast travel, distance, travel, and time matter! Still though it could stand to be a little lighter, it is till a game like you said. However, I don't see how this arc is "lower stakes" at all, for everyone else? Sure, they won't die or anything, but for Kirito this is everything man, and it should be for us as well, he has a week to get Asuna back, and so has to game the MMO part of an MMORPG, which I think is the most compelling aspect of this arc, so I just can't help but disagree when people downplay and dismiss this arc. Also just a personal caveat, people get this serious and more over social media platforms, over opinions, over anonymous strangers, like it's affecting their real lives! In a world were full-dive tech exists I can Imagine that's where social media expands next, and it sort of those in SAO, that idea of a "Metaverse".

Obscuremango

The gleam eyes and kirito monster aren't that well look a like at all
