New Plan (Patreon)
Content
In the last post I mentioned some of the things that have impacted my life in the last few months, these have been pretty negative but in order to get back on track I’ve refocused my ideas and I’m going to approach my work from a new angle. I think this is a healthy thing and hopefully creates better and more useful content.
So today I want to tell people what is changing and how it will impact my patreon going forward. At the end of this post a poll with some specifics, just to see what people are going to be most excited for!
Standardised Content
There will now be much more rigorous standards in place for the assets, maps and tokens that my patreon produces. In its most basic form, will mean that some of the assets I've previously made will have to be redone, because everything is going to increase in size by about 35%, although most will still work just fine
As an example below, you can see what the difference will look like for a normal 5ft (1 square asset)
This will allow for more detailed tokens, assets and maps and generally will mean that my maps will look better when printed for use at the table. They will also be much higher quality for virtual tabletops.
Also there are now templates for every size of map, from A4 to A0, these templates will be used for everything to make sure everything lines up and everything works together.
Higher Fantasy Themes
My patreon has for the longest time, has not had a plan, at least not a very good one. With this new direction I am to change that with Fantasy Themes.
These themes are for Higher Fantasy games primarily, such as use in Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder and will allow me to make content in my own style that does not just create flat looking environment pieces that might feel right at home in a more medieval style game. Instead these will be High fantasy will a much greater emphasis on wonderful over the top magical amazing places.
What is a theme
Each theme will be an overall umbrella for;
- Battlemaps
- Tokens
- Assets
- Maps
Each of those elements will be made to fit each other within their theme. This means that the battlemaps and their tokens will look and feel the same so you can use them as part of the same adventure or encounter.
For example in the “Old Kingdom” theme you should expect to see battlemaps of high fantasy castles and their dungeons, but also the battlemap of the inn or the mill which will look and feel exactly the same. The map of the village that all those battlemaps as well as every single token created, from the knight to the dragon, will be made to match the rest. So by the end, you will be able to mix and match within the set to create anything you want.
Complete Packs
Thanks to the above maps and assets and tokens will now be made with a more complete sort of pack in mind which will hopefully lead to better enocunter design and better planning for your games!
Fantasy Theme Poll
I have made the poll below to see what people are most excited to see! This won't be a poll to determine what is coming next but will give me a good idea about your expectations. I realize this might not make sense without visual examples but don't worry I will be showing off how this works very soon! Oh these are just the first 5 themes I want to expand on first!
Hopefully this makes some sense and I'm really excited to make these themes come to life!
