EXCITEMENT.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream, I am now the proud owner of a 1980 Atari Missile Command cabaret cabinet 😀😀😀

So here's a quick video about it!

I've got future plans for the machine on LGR of course, but I was just so psyched to have it in my house and share a little bit of the joy that I had to put this little overview together last night.

Hope that your week goes well, folks! In between commanding missiles, I'm fully committed to finishing a rather huge video about my crazy trip to Dallas, Texas. Plan is to have that done before Friday, so yeah. Back to the grind!

Dude I just moved to fort mill, 10 minutes from rock hill! I would have never seen this place, I’m definitely gonna go check it out

Don't know what you did in Dallas but I hope you got to the National Videogame Museum and one of the Freeplay arcades. It's a great place to be for retro gamers.

Congrats, my dude! Side note, I never realized it's just a plastic tray behind the quarter slots - as I kid I think I always imagined it some magical rube-goldberg machine lol

Like a pneumatic tube connected to the nearest bank to make direct pneumatic deposits.

I'm glad you've managed to fulfill your lifelong dream Clint. Mine is to own a Star Wars Pinball machine, circa 1995 I think? But I have the same issue with living in a small house...

Those little awkward round things remind me of the tiny red UFOs in Defender. Milk them quarters, as we say.

Hah, didn't last long with the mini one before going full tilt 😂

Awesome. For me I’ve always wanted the sit down star wars arcade cabinet. Mainly because it was the first that I remember playing.

Amazing way to start my week. I want one. Thanks Clint!

LGaRcades, 3rd channel? ;). Would you ever buy a pinball machine too if you've got the space?

I am so, so happy for you, Clint. I, too, have this life-long dream, and I hope to one day fulfill it, with either a T-2 machine gun arcade machine, or a KoF '97 arcade machine, both of which are absolutely imprinted in my memory (they were the only machines in my whole town).

Wanted to visit but ended up completely occupied with other stuff! Will make more sense later this week, hehe

LazyGameReviews

I'd love one of those myself, or something from that era. Mid 90s pins are fantastic for their mix of classic tech and more modern, faster play areas

LazyGameReviews

Combined with visiting a place called Arkham Arkhade recently and yeah, I just HAD to dive in and grab a machine finally

LazyGameReviews

I'd love a sit down cabinet of any kind! Though I'd love if it were a racing game, something like Outrun, Daytona, Cruisn USA etc

LazyGameReviews

T-2 would be a lovely machine to own! Actually, the place that I got this Missile Command also has an Area 51 for sale that I'm mighty tempted by...

Wow, congrats man! I also recently joined the arcade rabbit hole a couple of months ago. I got a Nintendo Space Firebird cocktail machine that I fixed up and restored. Very cool on getting a cabaret, I always like those smaller form-factor machines. Gorgeous unit there, it'll serve you well. I'd also suggest checking out the KLOV forums if you haven't already, lots of very knowledgeable arcade collectors there if you ever need help with repairs or tracking down parts.

LazyGameReviews

Oh nice! The same seller I got this from also has a Nintendo PlayChoice 10 cabinet that was super tempting. Big N really made some neat machines back then. And yeah KLOV has already proved useful in figuring out my initial trackball woes!

5:34 Fill in that jank with some wood putty then if you want, paint the woodgrain pattern over the wood putty (or draw it on with furniture scratch markers).

That's the best thing I've seen, nice one

Emulation is great for many reasons, but it never comes close to the real deal. One day I hope to get my own proper Galaga upright cabinet. One day....

Have you ever heard of or had a chance to try out New Retro Arcade in VR? I know you said you're not into emulation - BUT this is incredible. It's for PC only - and you have to obtain your own roms, but you build your own 80s arcade, with whatever games you want, different cabinets - it's incredibly impressive. I was a kid during all the 80s and spent a ton of times at arcades of the day, and nothing has ever made me feel like I'm back in that era like a arcade filled with real games in VR. It's super impressive and for some reason has never got a ton of hype despite probably being the most impressive thing I've ever used VR for (and I've had a Rift since DK1). It's like being the kid in Silver Spoons - just with a lot more money to buy a lot more items.

As someone who built a full size MAME cab, collects computers and games consoles and hopes to start an arcade collection once I have the space, I have to say I'm envious! Missile Command would easily be in my top 5 and I love these little cabaret cabs. Great score!

LazyGameReviews

Thank you! It's my dream to have my own personal arcade with a mix of full-sized cabinets, pinball machines, and all the major retro computer setups. One day maybe :)

I would love some arcade machines, but I just have nowhere to put them.

This inspires me to finally repair the monitor in my Sega Astro City. Looking forward to the Dallas, Texas video!
