Dear fellow pipers,

Have you ever found yourself constantly postponing tasks? Or felt your mind buzzing with no ideas? Or perhaps, have you ever felt like you're wandering through a maze no matter how much you think?

I completely understand. I often experience that feeling whenever I write something.

During the past week, I've been rewriting the script for "The Pied Piper." Here's what has been decided so far for the video:

Theme: "We are different but have many similarities. So let's make an effort to understand each other instead of discriminating."

Event: The Pied Piper, playing the role of Genevieve (portrayed by Eugene), and his mouse friend Dawson (portrayed by Wendy) plan a rescue mission for the Ratians.

Protagonist's goal: To rescue the Ratians who are in danger of being wiped out by the mayor.

Obstacles: The mayor and its guards who want to eliminate the Ratians, Ratians who follow the mayor's orders without believing in The Pied Piper's kindness, and a magic flute that won't work without trust.

Reaction: Escaping from the guards but unable to use magic, they struggle to find a way to save the Ratians. However, with Dawson's faith, they regain the magic.

Outcome: The Pied Piper and Dawson set off to rescue the Ratians, becoming true heroes.

However, there was a problem. It lacked excitement. The flow was there, but the specifics of when, where, and how the events would happen were not clearly defined. And no matter how much I thought, it didn't improve, so the work kept getting postponed.

Then, I came across a classic bestseller called "Dale Carnegie's How to Stop Worrying and Start Living." And I found an unexpected solution.

This book teaches us how to live happily without worries. When we face challenging situations, we often act irrationally. We procrastinate, lose confidence, and tend to avoid. And the less clear the situation is, the more we become afraid and fall into worry. So how can we make the situation clearer?

Carnegie claims that by answering the following four questions, we can solve the problem:

  1. What is the problem?
  2. What is the cause of the problem?
  3. What are the possible solutions to the problem?
  4. What solution will you propose?

So, I decided to summarize my current situation specifically.

1. What is the problem?

I want to create more enjoyable and better short films, but I lack experience and standards in production.

2. What is the cause of the problem?

The unfamiliarity of writing short film scripts is burdensome.

I'm overwhelmed by the abundance of content, leading to a slump.

3. What are the possible solutions to the problem?

Watch interesting and diverse works.

Write even if it's not great.

Develop a habit of writing.

4. What solution will I propose?

Analyze short animations and musical animations.

Apply what I've learned and write. Set a daily writing habit.

Therefore, until next week, I've decided to study various works based on "why they are enjoyable." I'll try the process of analyzing, incorporating what I've learned, and revising the script five times, one page each day. I'll share an article and the piece I attempted based on the analysis next time!

I hope today's writing was helpful! Thank you always, and I wish you a great day. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Do you have any short animations or musical animations that touched your heart? Please share them in the comments!

It's very interesting to see your creating process! Even the hardships! As for the question, hmmm, I will have to think a little about it to answer properly ๐Ÿค”

Carnegieโ€™s steps seem useful, I might try them sometime! Iโ€™m glad that it has helped you. I have a few animatics/animations to share: Regret by Torrente / tw: blood and scary imagery (https://youtu.be/fDQSp0BcJGo) this one is a fan animation of the QSMP and itโ€™s really known for how well it shows the lore surrounding Cellbit and his amazing role as a character. Itโ€™s my current favorite shortfilm. Ship in a bottle by Shandzii / tw: flashing images (https://youtu.be/SocVqKJsYsA) this is an Oc animatic, itโ€™s the characters story and I love it, the story is told without dialogue and I feel the pain of the main character. Cuerdas by Pedro Solรญs Garcรญa (https://youtu.be/vtrHIa0RkAo) This one is a 3d animated short film, I watched it a few years ago and itโ€™s really sad. It won a Goya award for best Spanish animated shortfilm in 2014. Takotsubo Heartbeat by Stup Jam / mild violence and also itโ€™s kinda long (https://youtu.be/7w7im-5C0-w) a splatoon fan animatic, its a story regarding Marinaโ€™s past before she escaped to the surface. This one is really emotional and I enjoy it a lot, so much so that I thought the story itself was cannon for a few weeks. Diamond Jack by Rachel Kim (https://youtu.be/mRpiBvwKX6c) High energy heist!! I love rewatching it and itโ€™s incredibly entertaining!
