Episode 29, Behind the Scenes of "Dear Me," is here!

This episode underwent a lot of text revisions, so there weren't many materials in the form of illustrations. Instead, I brought the cover costume designs, story outlines, and old idea sketches.

Page 1:

I wanted to draw the first page in the most beautiful way and the last page in the most worn-out way. To achieve that, I created new costume designs specifically for this episode. The goal was to combine "birds" and "funeral attire." Wendy initially had black clothes that didn't suit her, so we changed them to white clothes. The hat that looks like a bird's beak is intentionally oversized and heavy, while the clothes are designed to remind us of wings.

Pages 2-4:

In the initial draft, the scene started with Wendy receiving feedback from the director on the set. Then, when she returned home, she found a party taking place, and her dad was giving a presentation to orphanage directors to find a new model. However, it was challenging to fit everything into a single episode, and we couldn't increase the number of pages. It felt like the story was getting too long. So, we modified it to convey the different scenes in the set, home, and study, all within the study.

Page 5:

This page reveals Alice Finn's current situation, which has been kept a secret. After the happy ending, she will go visit her sister in the hospital, right? It's interesting that this scene was actually drawn during the early stages of the project, so Wendy's hair is still long, and Alice's design has some differences.

Pages 6-7:

These are Wendy's initial concept artworks. Actually, they are more fitting for "The Bird" episode, but they were hidden away and covered in dust until I found them and brought them along.

Young Wendy... she was quite lively XD

Overall, this episode was about breaking down the villain we've been building up so far, and I've always been looking forward to drawing Wendy cutting her hair, which has been anticipated for a long time. It was truly enjoyable to draw it!

에피소드 29 Dear me의 비하인드 씬 입니다.

이 에피소드는 글수정을 많이 했어서 그림으로 된 자료는 많이 없었어요. 대신 표지 의상 디자인과 스토리초안, 옛날에 해둔 아이디어 스케치들을 가지고 왔습니다.

1페이지:

가장 아름다운 모습으로 첫장을, 가장 망가진 모습으로 마지막 장을 그려내고 싶었어요. 그러기 위해 이번 화만을 위한 의상디자인을 새로 했답니다. '새'와 '장례복'을 결합해서 만드는게 목적이었어요. 중간에 웬디가 검은옷이 너무 안어울려서 흰옷으로 바꾸었지만요.

새의 부리처럼 보이는 모자는 무겁도록 크게, 옷은 날개를 연상 할 수 있도록 했습니다.

2~4페이지:

초안에서는 촬영장에서 촬영 감독에게 지적받는 장면으로 시작했어요. 그리고 집에 와봤더니 파티가 열리고 있었고, 아빠가 고아원장들 앞에서 새로운 모델을 구하는 프레젠테이션을 했죠. 하지만 한화에 다 넣기에는 분량이 애매했고, 화수를 늘릴수도 없었습니다. 이야기가 늘어질 것 같았거든요. 그래서 촬영장, 집, 서재로 나눠져 전달될 이야기들을 그냥 서재안에서 전달할 수 있도록 수정했어요.

5페이지:

비밀로 남겨둔 앨리스 핀의 현상황입니다. 해피 엔딩의 이후에는 언니를 만나러 병문안에 가겠죠? 거의 작품 초기때 그려 두었던 장면이라 머리도 아직 길고 앨리스의 디자인도 다른 점이 재미있네요.

6~7페이지:

웬디의 초기 설정 아트웍들입니다. 사실 the bird편에 더 어울리는 리워드들인데 구석에서 먼지쌓여서 발견하지 못하던거를 찾아서 들고왔습니다.

어린웬디는... 참 활발하지요

전반적으로 지금까지 쌓아왔던 빌런을 무너트리는 화였고, 오래전부터 머리를 자르는 웬디의 모습을 그리기를 항상 기다려왔기 때문에 그리면서 아주 즐거웠습니다!!
