It didn't take long for me to come to the mental realization that Yasaka was likely going to have Kunou stay with us even if it was highly... Highly unlikely for her to trust me with out years of vetting who I was to be trusted with her precious daughter.

So after a bit I called up that magical building organization that could put up our mansion outside Kyoto that Sona introduced me to and in order to keep up with the locals I chose a Himeji-style castle design for the mansion so the place would fit into Japan's aesthetic. And after putting in the order, my face twitched into despair as almost all the money I had was sucked away from my bank accounts!

'Back to being completely broke...' I thought with a sigh and as though sensing my discomfort Mami patted my knee and said consolingly. "It will be fine Jake. We can get more money off of bounties or we could even go somewhere where we could collect a bunch of magical reagents to sell!"

I smiled and gave Mami a kiss on the cheek making her preen as I said affectionately. "Alright Mami, I won't worry so much."

But before we could discuss moving the quintuplets and Mash into the mansion I was having built. Or even discuss whether I should make good on my contract and go pop into Worm to kill some of the bounties I had for getting my powers.

A yell rang out and then with a loud banging noise, the door to the room we were in was violently blasted open with the door slamming into the cinderblock wall with a harsh wooden cracking noise.

The state of the door however wasn't on my mind as I saw one of the youkai who carted Hiro away previously was carved open with his body bleeding out and behind him was a cloaked figure with his face covered in a face mask that had a magical ofuda plastered onto the face mask to suppress his presence.

"Jake here, kill him." A man's voice droned out from the cloaked figure and I sneered and then snorted as I snapped my fingers with a Sitri ice ball that grew within his mouth and his head violently exploded into a mist of blood.

"Sealing away your magic and touki to avoid people sensing you will only make you have zero magical resistance dumbass," I said as I formed a long thick dagger of ice in my hand as I dashed over the headless corpse and my thought was right as there was two more cloak covered figures and as they took out daggers made from holy silver I all but rolled my eyes as I quick-stepped to the side as loud cracking noises rang out with bloody holes being shot into through their forms as Mami shot them both with a dozen conjured muskets each.

'What the hell is going on?' I thought before it hit me that Yasaka's plan to clean house of the Five Principal clan spies had probably gotten out and thus they were trying to make Yasaka bleed with these sacrificial death warriors like these three.

I walked over the corpses as I knew they wouldn't give me any details nor did their lesser holy daggers interest me in any way as I knew that were just temporarily blessed through a ritual or two and not a true enchanted holy weapon. Mami followed me quickly with her heeled footsteps ringing out as we walked through the VIP section of the governmental building and my lips twitched as I heard a loud explosion ring out followed by a roar.

As we exited out of the main building I saw in the far distance was Yasaka in her large Nine-Tailed Fox Form tearing into a massive turtle that was covered in glowing runes that blocked her claws, fangs, tails and fox fire. "Whelp that is a perfect sign for us to get the hell out of dodge," I muttered seeing the Ultimate Class Nine-Tailed Fox trying to kill her treasonous subordinate or at least that's what I thought was happening.

But before we could decide if it was just time to bounce my magical senses pinged a similar outburst of fox fire that matched Yasaka's flavor of wrathful fox fire and I mentally cursed and said hurriedly. "Come on Mami," I said flying up and towards the other source of power I sensed with the blond beauty following behind me.

Flying through the now deactivated wards at our highest speed my mental thought was proven unfortunately right as laying dead on the ground was a couple tengu guards and leaning against a broken down tree was a strawberry blonde smaller fox girl that I recognized as Kunuo even as the front of her priestess outfit was dyed red with blood from a shoulder wound.

I slammed downwards onto the ground creating a loud crashing noise and the four death warriors of the principal clans whipped their heads towards me allowing Mami who was still above us to open fire with her conjured guns while I held a hand to the ground to conjure countless ice spikes to impale the death warriors from all sides while Mami's gun fire left them no room to dodge or escape.

"Shit shit shit!" I whispered with dread as I sprinted over and I slid in front of Kunou and began inspecting her wound and I grimaced seeing the shoulder wound had gone through deep. Past her ribs and the long deep cut having carved into her chest past her lungs's and her heart...

Kunou was fucking dead. Even if just as my information scanning magic was still registering her brainwaves as being active along with the prior fox flames so she just got this terrible wound and had fallen 'unconscious' but actually was legally dead by not having a heart to make a heart beat

I bit my lips as I considered things and then I said. "Mami, I will be back. I got to take Kunou somewhere special to heal." I said picking her up quickly and with a mental flex a portal opened up beside me with Mami grimaced in understanding as she quickly said.

"I will be here."

Using Sitri magic I sealed as much of Kunou's wounds as I could and began manually pumping her blood to and from her ruined heart by making a water construct to pump her thin blood as I took my portal to the one place I knew off the top of my head that could potentially heal Kunou of literal death and her wounds.

And with a roar of displaced air we stepped out of my portal as I landed in the town of Axel. In the world of Konosuba, with my feet instantly leaving the ground as I flew into the air with the kitsune in my arms bleeding onto my clothes as I shot into the air to find a divine signature.

As I knew the useless goddess Aqua could heal damn near anything.
