Well this has been A Month at work. In the middle of last week I discovered Haley Cass' writing, and just in the past week I have devoured Those Who Wait, Forever and a Day, and now all of Midnight Rain. Wow. It's been the most wonderful distraction to hold while going from HR meeting to HR meeting, I love these characters. Thank you!

I keep coming back to and thinking about this chapter and the interaction with Layla and Charlotte. Layla didn’t bother introducing herself to Charlotte. I mean maybe she was excited to meet a senator she admired and didn’t think to introduce herself. It doesn’t reflect well on her. Also, cheating aside, is Layla truly terrible or are we only seeing her from biased POVs and unreliable narrators? She has a right to be concerned about Lucy’s well being and voice her opinions in that regard. I don’t think she’s as awful as some comments would suggest.

I honestly really enjoy this commentary! I'll add in my thoughts -- while I don't think Layla was a good partner to Sutton (obviously), I'd say she is very much a morally gray character, rather than a truly abominable person (a la Michael Dalton). But all points aside, regardless of her relationship with Sutton and whatever she might have said to/about Charlotte - she genuinely is concerned about Lucy being in the public eye, as it's not a secret that Charlotte is on a presidential track
