Well, here's my completed Gonzo building. I went through several iterations before settling here. At first I tried putting it in a typical natural landscape with green grass and a blue sky, but the building is so unique it seemed out of place in such an ordinary setting. Once I found colors for the building I really liked I was able to come up with a minimalistic background that gives context but doesn't distract from the building design. The final touch was choosing the yellow colors for the smoke. I tried several of the more realistic grayish blue hues, but it gave it a gloomy feeling that also didn't seem to fit the playful architecture. On the other hand, the yellow compliments the playfulness and gives an appropriately surreal quality to the scene.

I've had a few patrons share their awesome designs with me so far. It's a lot of fun seeing the different colorizations and backgrounds. You can join in on the fun and make a Gonzo building too. Download the template here. No deadline, no strict rules, just have fun. It's a great coloring practice for managing values. I'd love for you to share your designs with me and I might even give you some feedback:)
