The cult phenomenon this show caused. You couldn't go anywhere without seeing death note-themed notebooks They were everywhere. But the original fans made sure you knew it was actually a manga before it was a show As much as I would want to be chaotic, there is no way I would. I don't think anyone should be playing god It is too much power, and where does the line stop? And who makes him (or me) the person to judge everyone? My favourite Anime is Bleach. I think English dubbing is fine.

So, what Light is doing is targeting the worst of the worst criminals. As for dub vs sub, it's really up to you. Personally I think the voice acting in the dub is meh at best, but that's just me. If you go with the original Japanese voice acting, English sub, then, I feel the vocal performances flow a lot better, but, as you said, you would have to pay attention to the subs a lot more. So, just go with what works best for you! I look forward to the next reaction!

I will say, when I inevitably request a martial arts movie, do not watch the English dubs (unless you want to laugh uncontrollably at the unintentional hilarity). But dubs for anime are way better quality than dubs for martial arts movies. If I have to, I will definitely watch anime dubs, but never dubs for martial arts movies (unless I'm blitzed out of my mind, lol). Stick with Chinese voice acting with English subs for martial arts movies, lol
