Love this album so much. I like it better than Luke's solo album if i'm being honest about my opinion. my top 3 songs in this album are; #1 Greyhound #2 Have U Found What Ur Looking For? #3 Perfect Lie

I don’t think I ever clicked on a video as fast as I did when I got to notification on my phone. There is a music video for Skinny Skinny if you ever want to watch that. Ashton battled with body dysmorphia, the song pretty much describes the thoughts he felt dealing with the disorder

When you think about the fact that he is the drummer and can (because of that) not have many singing parts in 5SOS because it would be a problem if they wanted to play these songs live... Also, I think my favorite lyrics are actually in Perfect Lie. I am not going to explain everything but listen to the song again and look at it from the perspective of how artists (like 5SOS) build their careers 😉

Glad you enjoyed this so much Travis. From what I understand, as Ash made this at the start of the pandemic, he and his housemate who is also a musician/producer created the record together which included playing all the instruments etc as they couldn't have anyone else involved during lockdown. Here's a couple of quotes from Rolling Stone Australia when he was interviewed back in 2020. “The over-arching narrative is support system, healing, recovery, strength and focus on true self. I felt like I had a lot to write about,” he explained at the time. GREYHOUND “Greyhound” is a one take in my living room and I’m singing my arse off here, and I’m conjuring kind of all the songs that that song is about. That song is about my family’s frustration and endless kind of birth/work/death cycle. But it’s also capturing a relationship that my mother had with a greyhound trainer, and if the greyhound didn’t come first, he would be shot dead, and that visual was so haunting to me as a kid. So I’m comparing greyhound racing to the way we work, and we work ourselves to death, y’know? And the way we bully ourselves into success, and the way we speak to ourselves when we think we aren’t good enough. That song is about resilience. THE SWEETNESS Yeah, with “The Sweetness”, it’s kind of about me finally… I finally got some therapy, which was very weird, and as a young Aussie I didn’t really talk about it much when I was growing up. I started experiencing my depression for the first time when I was about 15 – 14 or 15 – and I really didn’t help myself out, I didn’t alleviate the depression until I was about 25 years old. I was in a rut, I wanted to kill myself, and it was horrible, and I was at the end of my rope. I finally got some help, I got some therapy, I found a medication that helped me out a bit, and all of these things are really candidly personal, but I’m happy to share them with you because I am on that journey. I’m on that journey of healing, I’m on that journey of being gentle with myself, and Superbloom is an explosion of confidence and resilience for people out there who are too scared to talk about it, or help themselves get better. Please, be a friend to yourself. And it’s so awkward and hard to do, and I really don’t blame people for being terrified of getting therapy or getting guidance, or whatever. That song for me was how my life and whole existence kind of changed after finding some help.

Perfect lie is actually one of my favorites on Ashton's album, mostly because there's a part in this (the intrumental in the chorus after he says "I can tell a perfect lie") that sounds very eastern european and I really do love that general eastern european sound. I thought it was one of the most different sounding songs on this album and it stood out to me. However, I have to say that Greyhound has always been my absolute favorite song in Superbloom IT'S SO GOOD. I think Ashton has also said that The Sweetness is also about his alcoholism, getting and staying sober and how the temptation is always there and the "darkness" can pull you back in.

Great reaction! Such a deep album from Ashton. I imagine it must have been very cathartic for him to share this project with the world. Can't wait for more of your 5SOS reactions 😊
