The style, the story, the performances... this one ties so much together, and was such an unexpected and bold choice for the penultimate episode... definitely one of the highlights for me

Wow. What a great episode. I understand now why Flora need to keep every "doll" in an specific place of the doll house. It's so interesting that the dolls shows the location in real time, so she can see where is everyone, and that's the reason she knows when Dani wasn't in her room (and why she and Miles kept her locked in the closet during the night). Both child are so clever and protective of the people. It's a shame nobody listens or pay attention to them. Really good episode and react. Love your face everytime there is a "jumpscare" hahaha. Now, let's go to the final episode.

Sorry Thor this is a long one…🙈  Firstly, when you said “I’m so glad I don’t live back then” I laughed at how relatable that was. I’d probably be hung for my insolence or die an old maid if I lived in those times! haha. “Is that really helping? Smoke in the room? haha. I mean, I believe it can because you’re burning natural elements that have healing properties. I’ve never tried it but I’ve read this method worked during ancient times. I’d assume it works similar to an essential oil diffuser? “At least she’s a self aware murderer” hahaha - Yeah I didn’t buy into their “sisterly love.” There was always an undercurrent of envy between them, like how Viola took Arthur away. Plus I didn’t buy how Perdita did a 180 on Viola. Her transition into the manipulative, entitled step wife was not smooth for me. I mean, I get it on an intellectual level but not emotionally. And to be frank, I’m not a fan of the monologue/ narration montages used to showcase the growth in characters. As I’ve said before, it feels too stagey and it prevents us from going deeper into the characters. It’s fine in small doses but this show uses that technique a lot. “I don’t even know what a caprice is”…I was dying when you said that because I was literally googling the word in that moment 😂😂 I knew it came from the word “capricious” but i forgot what it meant. And I learned that word from the movie “Clueless”, can you imagine? (Another 90s classic must watch). “Nice security system Arthur, just in your drawer, and unlocked” I know right? Not even a safe? Your commentary in this Ep really had me laughing more than I should hahaha. And I think Dani will die (I’ll know soon enough). But in the opening credits Dani’s portrait was faceless so I assume she will? I agree with you, this was a good episode. The backstory of Viola was interesting and I’m glad we finally understood why Bly is haunted. However, another part of me would’ve preferred if the backstory of Bly was more connected to the characters in the present? Like apart from the footprints and Flora drawing on Viola’s plaque, I don’t think there was any indication of the manor’s history until now? Usually before revelations like this, there would be a build up with present day characters having some knowledge or rumours about the history of the place. I personally don’t like the disconnection between the past and present story…but that’s just me :) Interesting take on the perpetual cycle of violence and Viola’s fate. I hadn’t thought of it as a generational thing but I like how you compared Viola to Peter. There’s definitely unresolved pain driving the actions of both those characters. For me, I saw Viola’s fate as symbolic of her inability to accept. We saw how it took her a while to admit she was even dead, similar to Hannah. I think the theme of “sleeping” and “forgetting” in this show is very much connected to denial. I also feel like everything is a consequence of Viola refusing to die when it was her time. Since then, she’s been the walking dead trapped within her own purgatory. The inability to accept death, facing the truth and letting go is something that’s been weaved into all the character arcs on this show. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction Thor! Sorry for the massive essay…Yikes! haha.

this is one of my favorite episodes of the season! also, I think Perdita gets a bad rap. as you mentioned in your outro, she liked Arthur first but gracefully stepped aside when Viola wanted to marry him. she stood up for Viola and fought for what she wanted every single step of the way. when she was sick, she fought to make sure the doctor tried everything to treat her illness. when she was "dying", she argued with her against those who would have her give up and admit defeat. she raised Viola's daughter for her for five years when she didn't have the physical strength to do it. she took care of her when she was sick, cleaned up her vomit, etc... when she didn't have to. they definitely could have afforded a nurse to do that; they were wealthy, after all. and most of all, she endured Viola's constant physical abuse through it all. now I'm not saying that she should have killed her but I do understand that a person can only take so much. I think both sisters were guilty of not being able to let go and perpetuating that cycle of malice and violence, passing it down. Perdita, for me, is another example of Flanagan writing fully fleshed-out characters. I feel bad for Viola and Perdita but for different reasons.
