Tremendously powerful episode as always. Thank you so much for making them

Spartacus: Speak brother, speak. The truth be thy sword and shield. We can’t do this again… yet here we are.

if you're going to liken churchill's action to those of hitler and stalin, you've truly lost the plot.

Just talk to the ghosts of all those dead in Bengal famine caused by Churchill. They will vouchsafe to the fact that there was no other f..cking monster more sadistic than the the rascist Churchill

Anonymous

The famine was not caused by Churchill and the facts around the Bengal famine of that year (because India experienced famine on numerous occasions) indicate that it was a lot more complicated than that.

David Shaw

yes... Somehow worse than Hitler who killed 6 million Jews, millions more dying in purposeful genocidal death, and starting the largest war in human history. Or Stalin who also killed millions through purposeful democide, and the worst purges in history.. 🙄

Sorry you seem to be ignorant of all the details. Yes there was a famine in Bengal but not in adjoining provinces/states like Orissa.

Poms deliberately curtailed inter province transportation of goods on the behest that trains are required for shifting the looted food and other materials to the port towns towards the final destination of England and the ports of white rats all over Europe. And Churchill had the audacity of commenting about the way the population of our society increases. He said we breed as rats. He was the greatest rascist comparable to sometimes more than Nazis, Fascists or Imperial ones.... That basta.d Churchill should have been killed multiple times to remind how much he ruined my country India

Tell me before you criticize Stalin and his country's strategy, despite all the faults and outrageous actions Stavka forced upon their soldiers and civilians, DO YOU EVER BELIEVE THAT THE DEMOCRATS COULD EVER BE ABLE TO SUSTAIN THE BUTCHERS BILL WHICH RUSSIANS ENDURED.

Anonymous

You don't have to know the exact ratio of people lost by Russian compared to POMS etc. Churchill, Roosevelt and their armies had a choice of time and place to conduct their flimsy operations with all those logistics and lot of training were completed. But Russian didn't have the choice and still were responsible for giving the most painful kick in the butt of Hitler and company. I am not fascinated with any doctrines be it easy or west. But certainly can't tolerate someone taking the human sacrifice Russian people would have endured. LET THE PRODIGIES OF CHURCHILLS AND ROOSEVELTS STUDY THE HORROR OF JUST ONE CITY LENINGRAD AND THEN THEY WILL START PRAISING THE CONTRIBUTION OF STALIN AND HIS SO CALLED DICTATORIAL LEADERSHIP. ATLEAST HE AVOIDED PANTS OF SO CALLED DEMOCRATS GETTING YELLOW EVERYDAY

I really appreciate your work Spartacus, but I believe that putting Hitler & Stalin - two of the evilest monsters of the 20th century - with Winston Churchill, the leader who pretty much saved the free world - makes me a little uncomfortable.

Anonymous

As an American, what makes me uncomfortable is that Manifest Destiny and our race laws at the time, served as a blueprint for Hitler's aims in the war. The only race law the Nazis took issue with was the South's "One drop law" which they felt was too harsh.

I think Stalin and Tojo deserve a special level of status for causing death. That said: EVERY leader in WW II carries a measure of the planning of death and the failure to act about it. I cannot say I would have acted differently, but don't believe any were angelic. Most were hard men that stood in hard times and made soul-breaking choices.

Omy Sadat

Many hard and harsh decisions were taken during the war. Churchill was as harsh as the others and sacrificed a lot of innocent people for what he thought was the greater good, that's why he won. Never forget

Acquisition of the lands of others and ethnic bigotry were well known and practiced in Europe long before there was a USA

Great as always but the bomber offensive does have a massive effect on German resources. In 1943, 40% of German military spending is on aircraft, 7% on tanks while Kursk costs the Germans only 0.2% of the production for that year (see How the War was Won, Phillips P. O'Brien).

I think it should be uncomfortable and applaud TimeGhost for challenging your and others inbred view. When you feel most uncomfortable is when your ingrained assumptions are open for view. Lean into it dude, you may learn something.

Great video and WAH is and should bring to light ALL of the inbrednarratives that make us confortable. never forget.

What a powerful ending, good job team!
