176 - A Soviet Offensive Along the Entire Front? - WW2 - January 8th, 1943

After all these months of fighting, the British 8th Army breaks through Erwin Rommel's Axis positions in North Africa, but the Allies have even bigger plans for that theatre of war- a huge invasion of Vichy French North Africa to take place next week. The Soviets also have a plan for a huge invasion to take place very soon near Stalingrad, though the fighting in the city itself sees a lull the second half of this week. You never have to apologize for a delay. It has been an absolute treat watching this series. That said I wonder how the Axis will fair in 1943, seems 1942 wasn't terribly kind to them....

It was totally worth the wait - especially in the current situation of the war, when the Axis gets beaten up by the Allies.

No worries on delays. In every field, smh. Anyone who is always in a hurry might be on the wrong planet.

If you would like to see a fictionalized account of the fighting around Mt Austen, Galloping Horse and Sea Horse on Guadalcanal, please check out the the book “The Thin Red Line” by James Jones who actually fought and was wounded in these battles. The movie adaption is available on Amazon Prime. He may be better known as the author of “From Here to Eternity” the movie version of which won 8 academy awards and had one of the greatest casts of any movie.

Must say I'm not a fan of the distracting interns in the background. I also have no idea what they're supposed to add. Maybe an explanation of their significance or the rationale for adding them would help me (and others) understand?

I'm a fan of the interns! Makes the set feel alive!

Don't mind the interns, but Indy has been out of focus for this episode and the last, the camera seems to be focusing on the background instead, thanks for your hard work!

Marc Steenbergen Netherlands

I kind of like the interns/other TG to be there as they are putting up with mountains of work behind the scenes! + It makes the scene more lively with the WW2 tech. Anybody here remembers changing the ink ribbon on a type-writer?

maybe this has been mentioned (questioned) before.... does the phone on the left have an AFRICA CORP logo...."the palm tree"
