Stalingrad, Stalingrad, Stalingrad, No Retreat! (Patreon)
Content
This week at TimeGhost we have a bad case of Stalingrad fever as the battle in the city really begins to heat up. Much of our mapping and editing has until recently focused on large swaths of land and even entire continents, but now so much of it is focused on just this one city. This means that, like the Soviet and German generals, we too have had to learn how to grapple with building-by-building fighting, and it has provided us a great deal of lessons which we hope will make the documentaries even better in the future.
Many of you often email or message us here on Patreon sharing artifacts/accounts you have found from your family and loved ones who experienced the war. For a long time there was not much we could do with this, but it felt like a shame to not make use of it in some way.
So this week we wanted to share something sent in by TimeGhost Army member Ted, the great grandson of US LTG Edward H Brooks, commander of the 2nd Armored Division. Ted digitized this recording of his great grandfather recalling what the 2nd Armored Division was doing from March to October 1944.

That recording is a little far ahead of our timeline, but if you have any family artifacts or recordings you would like to share with us that are relevant to our point in the timeline, Autumn 1942, please do message us here on Patreon! If you have things to send in that are from beyond 1942, it's much more likely we'll share them if you send them in closer to corresponding date on our timeline.
Thank you all for your extraordinarily generous support, and for helping us bring history to life!
