This season, gangs and street violence is taking off like almost never before. In fact much of it is so iconic that it will be drilled into our collective consciousness as the image of organized crime for decades. In Chicago, this means the notorious Al Capone, who is increasingly powerful off of the back of the illicit alcohol trade. There is another group of criminals who are causing just as much ruckus over in Germany, the Nazis.

Though the Nazis try to develop a public image of a highly disciplined, organized, and structured political group, the truth is their thuggish violence is far more akin to that of Al Capone than of a political party. After taking power their propaganda machine will churn out imagery of thousands of Nazis marching in perfect formation, and unfortunately 21st century history documentaries will replay this to millions of modern day viewers, but this is far from their reality.

Nazi Fanatics and Gangland Executions | B2W: ZEITGEIST! I E.26 Winter 1925

The winter of 1925 is a season of gun battles and assassinations. Al Capone is fighting both the Chicago police and rival gangs to gain control of the bootlegging racket, and a Nazi party fanatic murders a Viennese author for his writings on anti-Semitism and eroticism. It's not all violence, though. This season, a landmark documentary film is released.
