Now in Stalingrad the civilian population is thrust onto the front lines of the war against humanity. Many thousands are trapped between the Volga and the advancing German forces, while the Luftwaffe unleashes a fierce bombing of the entire city.

For those in the Soviet Union who are now behind the Soviet lines life is by no means easier. The Nazi war machine treats the people it has conquered as less than human, and in a violent attempt to quash resistance has begun executing so many civilians that many feel their chances for survival are better with the Partisans.
All the while, a genocide is underway of Europe's entire Jewish population.

There are few times worse to be a human than now.

Thank you all for your support which makes it possible for us to keep the memories of these victims alive. We always say this, but to even begin to comprehend the scale of suffering we must look at the personal stories of each person affected. That takes a lot of resources, so thank you for keeping history alive with us.

Oh man, the worst nightmares for the civilians of Stalingrad are about to get worse with the start of the Battle of Stalingrad. Getting trapped in the city and not being allowed to leave by Stalin amidst the Luftwaffe must have been a terrible ordeal. Never forget.

While all Timeghost content is excellent and informative this series, to me, is by far the most powerful emotionally. While it is hard to watch and I imagine far harder to write and produce, that difficulty goes to show just how important it is.

The great leader allowed the party bigwigs to leave the city. It was mostly the commoners and the helpless who were left to suffer in this workers' utopia.

Once the average Jew or Slav has figured out what Hitler's program is all about, they've got no option but to resist. The ridiculous NAZI ideology was its own undoing.

I’m older, a Cold War Worrier. 83 to 2016 with a few brakes. I was stationed in Germany (x2). Knowing what happened did color my view of most older Germans. One thing I want to say. I’m one of a few today that has seen mass death, up close. I went into Haiti 24 hours after the 2010 earthquake. I saw an open mass grave in the first hour after I arrived. The government figured 250,000 dead . This grave (I was told) would hold 50,000. It was half full. Big hole dug by a huge excavator. Large dump trucks, as far as I could see down the road. Heaping with dead, arms and legs hanging out at the top. This was but one of 5 mass graves. Starting a week after. When the wind blew the right way, the smell of death came upon us. We wore scarfs and used a mint jell given to us for the next few weeks to keep the smell from nauseating us. This was a natural disaster. I cannot imagine the Holocaust. I was in Haiti 5 months. It took me years to deal with it. Just writing this has an effect on me.

How can this be age restricted on Patreon? I didn’t know that was a thing.
