This episode concludes another chapter in this long war, but the end is nowhere to be seen. As this invasion ends, another is being planned and a new war breaks out in Iraq.

I hope you're all staying healthy and sane. We're definitely still coping, being able to continue our work remotely and digitally. We are aware that our work might not be the most urgent thing going on at this time, but we are thankful for your continuing support and hope that we are able to offer some diversion with our content.

As always, nice episode! But what's up with the German bombing of Britain at this point?

Indy, After binge watching "The Great War" ,"Between Two Wars" and "WW2", I have finally completely caught up. Great job by you and the TimeGhost team. You have mentioned that the Suez canal was closed by mines and the USA had deemed the Red Sea as not safe. What are the routes that were used for shipping to Egypt and was there much of a threat to these convoys as the u-boats seem to have been only in the north Atlantic.

TimeGhostHistory

The Germans had commerce raiders in the all the world's oceans. Auxiliary cruisers with arms enough to destroy solo merchant shipping. But mining and bombing the Suez Canal was a huge deal because 1) if the British couldn't use Suez they had to go all the way round Africa with shipping which takes ages, and 2) if they couldn't use Suez then how do you supply the North African forces? Who really needed supplies. The commerce raiders never did as much damage as hoped for, but they were much feared. Think about it- you are a captain of a merchant ship. If even one such ship has been sunk by the Germans in the Indian Ocean you're going to be very worried in general. Indy
