1945 ended with the British fighting the Indonesians in Surabaya in East-Java. Now, Mountbatten wrote how the Dutch were nowhere near capable of reclaiming their colony on their own. Well, this year, they arrive and the war intensifies.

No, we wanted every episode in this series to have a deeper thematic layer. This episode touches on revolutionary culture and the youth movement that stood at the forefront of the armed revolution against the Dutch. Influenced by modern media, they were no longer accepting a life under Dutch rule where they gave so much and gained so little.

I hope you're all doing well and staying safe!
Cheers,
Joram

The British seem to be everywhere in South East Asia and the Southern Pacific after the war. Either caught up in fighting in IndoChina or trying to figure out what to do with French and Dutch areas.

Great video, super interesting topic! It would be intriguing hearing more about the post-colonial world in general, and various independence struggles -- maybe one-per-country mega episodes could be possible someday.

Honestly I think sometimes we (maybe just me?!) get caught up in our own nations history or our own ancestry that it’s almost impossible to comprehend that everywhere, everyone have massive stories with such intriguing and intricate twists and characters.

I don't even dare to ask (as you are doing so many huge things already), but what about a series about the Korean War?
