Enjoying things so far, but is the time given to the fate of the Jews in the occupied lands getting a bit disproportionate in these episodes? There were others that fell foul of the SS in these places, too. The communists, the mentally ill, the homosexuals etc etc. If you're going to contrast the history of the war with the developing holocaust and even the crimes against humanity then hopefully we will get to see the Soviet, Japanese and even allied actions.

I agree, not many mainstream documentaries go very far into what the Japanese forces were doing within China prior to the US entering the war.

Jackswild, We respectfully disagree - The reason for this appearance is simple: the SS was targeting Jews more than others and yet we don't feel that we have covered it disproportionally. We would point to the fact that we have covered the massacres of teachers and intellectuals by the SS in Poland in several episodes, the incarceration of the academics at the Jagelonian university in Cracow, the T4 euthanasia program in Germany, the murder of mental patients in Poland, the indiscriminate and deliberate bombing of civilians during the invasion of Poland, the mass shootings of PoWs both by the German and Soviet forces, the burning of Polish villages, the incidents between Germans and Poles in Bydgoszcz, the persecution, incarcerations and deportation of Poles in Soviet occupied Poland, and several other incidents of crimes against humanity against non-Jewish part of the population. Cris Stochaj, The reason why we haven't covered atrocities in China is simply that in November 1939 the majority of these events lay in the past or will happen in the future - as the war picks up pace there again we will of course cover the atrocities there.

Watching this episode I was reminded of the novel "Die Welle" I know it might be a bit early, but will you be covering the influence on post-war culture in Germany?

So we are going to get a new Between 2 Wars (happy days).

I don't know last week they went into the fate of intellectuals in Poland and the Polish people, earlier they went into Nazi plans for the mentally ill, the one group maybe not yet talked about are the fate of the Roma people.

It would be good to cover the treatment of all ethnic minorities at the hands of the Nazi Regime. Also a special on minority religious groups, such as Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses (then Bibelforscher, Bible Students), and how they regarded and were acceptable to it would be interesting too.
